So, is that a thing they only do when they have free will? And is there a cheat or mod or perhaps even a legit means that allows a player to trigger those chance cards? |
idk. but it happens so often in my game. Especially when you have alot of kids... like mine...

As far as I know, asking for advice is only an autonomous action that users can't direct.

So both me and Menaceman got a disagree for this. Could the disagreer please elaborate on this? I don't normally whine about getting disagrees, but in this case I must ask you to share your insight. Because I only ever get parenting chance cards after a loading screen, in the few moments when my sims have free will. (I'm not talking about the cards the parents get via phone from school, these I get reliably).

I wouldn't worry about the disagree, there are aholes that just like to troll and disagree with everything.

The disagrees are ridiculous now. You can post it is raining outside and get a disagree. I will get some here I am sure. It does not bother me. I see many posts where absolutely nothing controversial is said and there are disagrees.

The best way to combat it is to agree whenever you see an undeserved disagree, then they've been counter-productive as a single disagree will generate lots of positivity c:

As I said, I didn't worry about getting disagreed with. Rather I worried about missing out on information. Because if I write "it is a free will action", then a disagree means "no, it isn't" and in this case I'd have liked to know what they know about that matter.
So far I'm happy with Parenthood, it needs little reigning in for my micromanager soul to enjoy it. But they should have included an option for each dependant in a household to be able to ask for advice player-directed at once per day. Or unlocked it for when they are in a negative emotion.

I think the reason that's not available is people would take advantage of it, and spam it just to gain the character values they want quickly without having to put in much effort.

Time to dust this thread off, the new quarter teaser that was just released shows a brand new upcoming game pack. Looks to me like it'll be some kind of vacation destination game pack, and judging by the icon and the architectural motifs, the location is probably either Aztec or Maya inspired. (I always get the two cultures/civilizations confused) This was unexpected, and quite honestly I was hoping for something other than another destination pack, but at least we're getting an interesting setting. Also what's with the skeleton? (I hope that means Bonehilda <3)

Me too, but a new vacation world will be really nice. I hate camping in real life, so I don't play a lot of Sims who travel to Granite Falls. In fact, I think in the last few years I've maybe played there twice. Yea. Not much on camping. I just hope the world is bigger than Forgotten Hollow or Granite Falls (wishful thinking, I know - but a gal can dream).
Maybe we'll get witches later in the year. I thought it was odd last year releasing Vampires in January, to be honest.

I feel like seasons will probably be the next EP. I can't think where else they'd go besides seasons and cars ep-wise, now that we have pets and OFB (sort of) and apartments (sort of) and they've shown that they can release a decent supernatural in a game pack, I'm thinking witches and maybe one or two of the other ones from TS3 like Fairies or Mermaids - or even maybe Zombies - would be a game pack this year...
I really really really want the option to at least BUILD apartments to be a feature SOMEWHERE this year. If we aren't going to get worlds of any particularly good size, and we can't place lots, then we really need to be able to build multi-family housing.

Oh god I would love an underwater themed expansion/game pack with mermaids as the central focus. One of the things I hate about TS3 Island Adventure's mermaids is that they can't actually live underwater, you know sleep there, eat there, give birth there and all that. There weren't enough underwater interactions, and you couldn't actually build structures underwater. I would love a fleshed out underwater themed world for TS4, that would be nice and something different.

Of course it reminds me a lot of TS3 World Adventures, but that's actually a bad thing because I still remember how speechless I was when World Adventures was the first EP for TS3 and it was so full of content. Last year I finally finished all tombs for the very first time and I was still discovering some new things. I don't think a TS4 GP will come even close.
I have no idea what to expect for a TS4 GP that looks similar to it. Guess we'll get a new vacation which is desperately needed because having only one vacation world is really weird. But what else will there be? We saw skeletons, so will this be a new life stage? Though I guess it'll be more like the mummies in TS3 - NPCs you'll encounter or maybe you'll find them in a hidden lot like the hermit.
So I'm curious, but I keep my expectations low. Maybe it'll be a nice surprise like Vampires.
edit: After rewatching I realize that the one guy had a skull in his speech bubble and then it seems like he turned into a skeleton. So maybe it is a new life state or a new temporary curse or something like this?

I really hope they somehow bring back the casual adults go away for the day vacations that gave the teens a chance to have a party. Generations I think? Parenthood should have covered that...
But a travel EP could introduce mini city breaks that could work the same way and take the adults away for a day or two. As long as it doesn't have that annoying thing where sims would go and then work would be calling
TS3 aliens? Finally! Now give us OFB and proper apartments, damnit! - EA, you are breaking my heart. - I give up.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Hairdressers GP where you can run your own business, because hair is already labelled, as as customer you can go in and ask for a Short, Medium, Long hairstyle along with a Strange, Wavy, or Afro style, and maybe even the color, and who knows what the result with be.

I think it'll be a new holiday destination, like the Outdoor Retreat pack, which would be a welcome addition, I guess. But it looks like it's taking a lot of inspiration from World Adventures which is a shame as that's one of my least favourite packs from The Sims 3. Although, one positive is, if it does go down that route with similar RPG elements it might not feel too out of place in The Sims 4.

I just want some new gameplay. And I hope that if it is a destination pack, that they include things that sims can do together - it annoys me to no end that sims can't go hiking, or visit the secret lot, together. Hey, I'd be thrilled if they patched in that sims could take a walk or a run together. What's the point of having sims travel together if they can't experience the world together. Also, we need memories, and fears, and all that jazz. I want sims to be able to remember why they are unhappy and not just get happy in an instant. But I digress.

I was expecting beaches and hotels, but I guess turning the Sims back into Tomb Raider is fine, since the pack was so well received the first time (it wasn’t).
Ironically, none of the vacation packs are in line with gameplay style they’ve created for themselves. You’d expect single, upper class elites to be relaxing by the pool at a 5-star beachside resort with an on site casino, or a snowy mountainside retreat with hot springs and ski slopes.
Nope.
First we were roughing in the woods, looking for bugs, and creating ointments at some backwoods hillbilly’s house (some ’The Hills Have Eyes’ shit if you ask me). Now, we’ve ditching our nightclubs to go to long forgotten ruins to dance will skeletons. You ever see a bro in a pyramid? It’s a mess.
I guess burglary is only fine when you’re robbing the dead I suppose.

I'm pretty disappointed. I've always disliked the vacation themed packs the most, even if they're well-made. And now they chop those into more than one pack, eventhough we rarely get new game play?!
