I assumed FranH was using Boolprop DormSpecificToolsDisabled false to enable Buy Mode on community lots. But that comes with University so it definitely won't work with only base game. Whether it would work with the higher EPs but without University I don't know. I suppose I could and should have tested it any time in playing career before I installed University at the end of January, but I never thought to do so and it's too late now!. I suppose that it would give money to the active household if we deleted things. It certainly takes money from them if we buy stuff from the catalogue (as some of my Sims found out to their cost).
Now it's my turn to be puzzled: what's a "consignment shop "?

A shop where, for a fee, you can sell your own items (hand crafted, second hand, etc). I only know this because they have them in Sims 3, but IRL they don't have them in my country (the closest thing we have is a pawn shop which is slightly different).
I will choose a path that's clear- I will choose free will

Sounds like what we call Home Industries here - you take your hand-crafted items or baked goods, you make the price, the shop sells it and takes 20% commission. Some of the bigger ones may have a section for second hand stuff. (Goods have to be supplied before to be approved, there are some health laws as well regarding baking from home). You can also order something from the creator through the shop.

Yes, Simsample and Justpetro are right. A consignment shop is where people take stuff into a store where someone else sells the items for a percentage of the profits. The stores are usually specialty type stores. Antique stores often take things on consignment. In a nearby city, there is a place that sells high-end used clothing(business suits, designer dresses & accessories). There used to be one that sold just baby stuff, but I think it's gone. Other things often sold on consignment are paintings and arts & crafts. However, I have never seen food sold on consignment. I don't know if that is because of the laws governing commercial food preparation in homes or if it's just because I've not seen it.

I'm using a specific 'build/buy' enabler for community lots-probably this one in post #48: http://modthesims.info/download.php...25#startcomment
I've had it for so long that I've forgotten where specifically I got it from-but it is not a cheat mod.

The baked goods are very popular here. There is an inspection at the baker's home; his or her kitchen has to be approved and be in line with the local health laws. You can basically buy any baked goodies, even order birthday and wedding cakes, and it has to be sold within 3 days or it has to be removed. (Some great bakers baking for these and some of them make lots of money. The one local shop has someone making amazing chocolate cake).

Speaking of consignment shops, over at GOS, Epo built a fairly accurate pawnshop:Pawnshop
