The final build for the OS was released just yesterday, correct? It is possible that not everyone was rushing to find out what games would be working on it..they were wondering if it could be downloaded and installed properly-the finite details were not available until it was released.

He doesn't work very much in the field anymore, but he did tell me months in advance that Win10 would have to a 'wait and see attitude'.
With 40 years experience fixing, installing and upgrading various electronics, I don't think I would want to argue the technical end with him.

He's building this new computer from scratch-and that takes time and skill when you wipe it out and reformat it from the bottom up-because it is so corrupted by viruses (from the original owner's stupidity) that it is nearly impossible to clean it out otherwise.

So I'm pretty sure he knows a little about the computer OS to do the job...

I just discovered another thing: If you have an Nvidia graphics card you'll probably have to wait until the next driver is released because it doesn't work. It works with my integrated Intel graphics card, but it's not made for Sims 2 so it will give me thousands of glitches. Sims 3 works though.

I think I can say the same for ATI. I have Radeon HD 7450M (in combo with Intel HD 3000), and when I open Catalyst to run the game in High Performance, it builds up those 25 MB in memory and then just hangs. If I select the game to be run under Intel's card, it works fine (though my fan goes 100 % during the intro video).

... so ... so i didnt need to reinstall... ... everything ...

I've had problems with TS4, TS2 UC, TS3, and Origin in general... There is an error that says that Windows can't find the program in certain path, even when the program is obviously there! And it's only Origin games that are affected...

I have decided to wait until the patch or upgrade, whatever, is released in, I think, October. It sounds to me as if 10 will work well with my computer with its intell graphics card, but I'm going to save myself potential headaches and just wait. I plan to buy a new computer fairly soon, and really just wanted the update so I would know whether I needed to buy a copy of windows 7. It looks as though that won't be necessary. Thank you, all you brave installers.

My problem was resolved by just renaming the Sims2EP9.exe. Game works normaly for me. It's same with the rest of the games... but for TS4, I needed to rename Origin.exe too.

Which driver do you have? I've got the GeForce Windows 10 driver (353.62) and it doesn't work for me.

Edit: It seems there are other people who are having problems with the new driver. Let's hope it will be fixed soon.

Whoward - do you happen to have only one graphics card (i.e. not Nvidia + Intel)? Because to me it seems like Windows 10 drivers issue is merely incompatibility with switchable graphics technology.

I upgraded to Windows 10 yesterday, and when I opened the Sims 2 this morning, I did it four times (getting two error messages which said nothing, and two decent startups with an image glitch at the bottom). Then I ran the troubleshooter and selected that it displayed in a way it shouldn't, and it opened correctly and even fixed the problems with resolution I'd had before.

My card is a nvidia geforce gt 720 which is fairly new I think. But I don't know for sure...

I upgraded to Windows 10 yesterday. I have an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680, and I upgraded my driver to 353.62, which is their Windows 10 driver. When I started the Sims 2 I watched it loading, but when I chose a neighborhood to go to, the screen went black. If I moused over the Sims icon in the taskbar it showed it loading, I just couldn't see it. I went searching and found this was also a problem with Windows 8, so I tried the solution and it worked perfectly. Right click on a blank spot on the taskbar and click Show the Desktop. Then right click again and click Show open windows. Then I could see my Sims 2 window and could play. I only had one resolution to choose from in the options, and that was 800 by 600. That's smaller than I used to play in windowed mode, but I'm just happy it works and I can continue playing.

That was a small improvement for my problem (if you can call it "improvement"). Before that it was just showing a white screen. Now it's showing a blue one (like when you alt+tab in full screen) but it still doesn't display the game.

Ok everyone! I'm all upgraded!

1) Your files and your apps stay in the same places, there's no need to put everything back
2) Sims 2 UC with about 2.5GB of CC and mods works like a dream, but a bit rusty on initial start-up as with every other game
3) No glitches (I have the Graphics Rules Editor in, anyway - see my sig)
4) CAS does NOT crash on my game, but it DOES stick when loading for about 15-30 seconds.
5) Neighbourhood loads fine - no hay texture/simpleterrain (but then again, I have the fix for my graphics card)

However...
You wouldn't have as much tiles they said
Start menu would more or less return they said

The drop off has been made. You've been warned.

I just found someone with the same problem as me in the Leefish forums. It seems it's a problem with the new Nvidia driver and mobile graphics cards.

Just got my upgrade and as for my full game it works great and my Nvidia card works great also.

I am having a problem with AGS but I think I will need to reinstall it for it to work as it should but will not be able to test this out for now.

I wish they gave us the option to have a complete wipe of the computer and then install 10 but it only upgraded it.

Testing of Sims 1 will have to wait until I do a complete wipe and reinstall 7 then upgraded to 10.

ADD: AGS works just fine after you set the program and each one of the games you make to run as admin.

It's essential that you do the upgrade. Upgrading from a legal version of Windows activates your Windows 10 license. Without the upgrade, Windows 10 cannot be activated (unless purchased).

Only after the upgrade, you can do as you wish - wipe the computer clean, do a fresh/clean Windows 10 install, or even roll back to your old OS.

@DJ. yes it is essential to do the upgrade but do you know how to reinstall it as a complete new install after wiping the hard drive?

Our Windows 10 has downloaded, but we need to back up some files and free up space before it can be installed. I'll report when we've installed it and I've tried to run Sims 2.

Yes, but I'm afraid it includes re-downloading the 3 GB.
