I've got a question about the online dating system. I don't like that all playables are listed, including sims in a relationship. I tried having them take their profiles off the "site", but they come right back! Is there any way for them to take their profiles off and keep them off?

Another thing: is there a way to access the memories of townies/homeless sims/whatever you want to call them? I keep getting notices that their memories are "full", and I suspect it's because of the memory spam ghosts generate (I'm playing Moonlight Falls right now). I've tried using the Memory Modder and I'm pretty sure I've unchecked the memory of seeing a dead sim twice now (and saving the file after, of course), but my sims keep getting the stupid memories!

Hey- if you said something to me in a post and I didn't write back, I'm sorry. Sometimes I don't feel good enough to post and by the time I'm able to the thread's old enough that I feel kind of weird about bumping it just to post one or two sentences. So please don't take it personally! :)

Not sure about the online dating thing, but I think most people play with memories completely off as all they seem to do is clog up the save file and keep it from running well. From what I understand, the memories system is a bit broken.

From what I understand, "a bit broken" is an understatement.

It might be helpful if remembering that the ghost you just saw is your sister who was born a ghost would mean that you don't stop cooking dinner to comment about the ghost that floated in, but it didn't even help with that!

Or the entire family reacting when their werewolf relative turns into one, willingly or unwillingly. Like, you BIRTHED her this way, why are YOU shocked?

Having a vampire-alien hybrid with both the vampire occult state and 50% alien DNA (set to reflect her parentage in master controller) won't corrupt my game, right?

If not, since she is still a baby, I can switch her alien DNA back to 0%.

Lately I've been dissatisfied with the appearance of one of the main characters in my Scumthorpe story. Something was off about her face and I couldn't work out what was going on. Sometimes it looked like her teeth were about to break through her upper lip. Something to do with the positioning of her nose and mouth. Anyway I couldn't put up with it any longer and today, in the middle of shooting a scene, I used Master Controller to put her into CAS and fix whatever it was. It was difficult to do without radically altering her appearance, but eventually I managed to improve matters, and before going back into the game I saved the new version to the bin.

So much for that save. Trouble is there are instances of that particular sim in multiple saves where various parts of the story are to be shot.. I don't want to go through the same business of fixing them all, so what would happen if I went into each save and substituted the new version in the bin for the old? I imagine it would destroy all that sims previous relationships, but that can easily be fixed with MC, and for story telling purposes it isn't really important. What I really want to know is would it seriously screw up the game in any way? I don't want to risk corrupting those saves and having to set things up all over again.

Just to be on the safe side, I think I would get Hybrid from NRAAS. That removes the restrictions on having only one occult state at a time.

(And if you keep a backup of your save as it is now, if you do anything that causes a problem later on you can always fix it by restoring the backup.)

There's an easier solution:
1- Save the changed Sim into the SavedSims bin
2- Use MasterController with the Integration and Cheats modules
3- Click on the Sim in your other games and then use MC'S "Edit In CAS". At the bottom left of the CAS screen you will now see the button that allows you to choose Sims from the Saved Sims bin like in Create a Household. With that you can replace a Sim in CAS with a Sim from the bin. Click that and select your changed Sim. Click the Agree button in the selection window and the Agree in the CAS window.
4- You have now replaced your old Sim with the new version.

Caveat: This only works properly if both Sims are in the same age stage.

Is it okay to let spawners hang over the edge of lots or does this cause routing issues?

As I understand it, nobody even notices a spawner while routing. The spawner just picks a random spot within the large circle to drop a copy of whatever it was supposed to spawn. The spawned object can cause routing issues if it appears in the wrong spot, but that can happen anyway. (Yes, I'm looking at the gems that spawned between the hedge and the building at the alchemy shop, which all the sims on the lot were standing around trying to get at until Overwatch declared everyone to be stuck and zapped them all home.)

Apart from what Ghost already said, namely that the whole area within the spawn circle should preferably be routable, the only instances where there could be in issue are when it is necessary for a Sim to remain on the lot. Like when you are a fire fighter. Picking up a flower that is outside the lot borders while on the job will end that job and count it as failed. Or an NPC party - stepping over the lot border will count as having left the party. And for whatever obscure reason I recently failed an opportunity because apparently I was supposed to pick up a gem on the lot only not outside it.

Yeah... Ctrl-Shift-C, testingcheatsenabled true, Ctrl-Shift-C, buydebug. Edit town. Click on the Alchemy shop, and scoot the spawner over a bit. Or delete the fence/hedge. Preferably done on a edited world made in CAW so you don't have to do it every new game.

EA screwed up. There's another one like that were a gem spawner spawns under a rock in WA. If you don't collect gems, they don't re-spawn after two gems .

Okay good. I thought that was the case, but its always best to double check my assumptions. Thanks for the help.

There's also Master Controller: Radius: Add to Inventory to move the gem to the family inventory, then put the thing back down where my sim can reach it while thanking the game that it so nicely made sure that nobody else could collect it. A good harvester often gets them as well, if you have access to one. (Either from an inventor or from gambling at the consignment shop.)

Anyone know if there's ever been a mod created to suppress the "let's turn all the lights off, and then whine about how dark it is" behavior of frugal sims? Drives me nuts.

I just stopped playing frugal sims.

Retuner might be able to handle that. I'm just now discovering all the things you can do with it.

Twoftmama on TFM's Asylum has a 'No Autonomous Turn off Lights' mod (for frugal Sims). Free registration required to view and download.

Leave the damn lights alone, so annoying when non-actives turn off all the lights on community lots.

With the fog emitter it should be possible, I guess. At least that's how I made a steaming pond once. It's just an effect though, not a "real" fire.

They do that on community lots too? One would think that would be more in line with Eco-Friendly than Frugal. These habits would at least make some kind of sense if someone, anyone, actually had to pay for power consumption in TS3.

Yeah @igazor, just when my Sim is on a One-Armed Bandit winning streak at the casino, some fool claps their hands and shuts down the power. Thank goodness for imaginary emergency generators. Every time I see the hand clap, lights off thing it reminds me of that awful "The Clapper" commercial. Might be another reason I dislike the Frugal trait so much.

Yeah, too much money for non-actives in Sims. Thank goodness we can count on NRaas to make some regular debits from household accounts and allow users to fiddle with funds. We all can do with more money mods.

And now I just had a random silly thought. Sims live inside a computer. So power to them is like air to us. It's something that is always around you, but you don't expect to have to pay for it.

So the idiots who keep turning off all the lights and then complaining that it's dark are like the people who kiss their beloved, and then complain about their beloved's breath.

There could be another explanation, although as usual I might be reading too much into this. My boss at work is our finance director. He's always turning off the lights on my side of the office when he goes home, thus leaving me sitting in complete darkness and having to feel my way along a wall back to where the switches are to turn them on again. I've tried to explain so many times that with desktop computers even those that go into sleep mode, servers that never do, A/C, a copier that keeps cycling on and off, and other heavy hitting things running as they do, turning off some of the lights an hour or two earlier is not going to make much (any) difference in our electricity bill. Maybe EA is trying to teach us that kind of lesson.
