Twenty Nine Thousand Feet Above The World
A roar. A rush. A surge.
Acceleration pushing me back in the seat.
Goosebumps on my arms, hairs pressing up.
Wings quivering, and then, takeoff.
Looking down, across the green land,
A patchwork quilt, ribbons cutting across,
like knives. Small dots, people, cars.
Getting smaller, the blue ocean visible now.
And then, a lurch. And I see… heaven.
A vast expanse of cloud, stretching
as far as the eye can see.
Ice crystals on a lake so calm.
Ears popping, the sunlight glistens.
I stare out at the world,
and I wonder…
Am I free?

The reason I like this one is becuase it sums up very well how I feel when I am flying. That feeling when you just take off, feeling the raw power of the plane, and then the beauty of the earth as it appears under you.. it's something that can barely be put into words.
Hope you enjoy.
Story books are full of fairy tales, of Kings and Queens, and the bluest skies.
