Oh, by the way, Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood say sc-on:

Bah, what does Mary Berry know about baking?

Everyone knows it's s-cone until you eat it, and then it's s-gone.

I want to try the sweet scones, but I don't like baking. I'm going to track down one of my British friends and make her make scones for me- she makes delicious food. My wonderful excuse is that my birthday is coming up, and you love me really

She is the British Baking Queen!
Although I have been watching too much Nigella Lawson recently, I have no idea if she says s-cone or s-gone

Both Mary and Nigella are far too saucy for me! I can't watch them any more!

"The Devon tradition is to slather the scone with cream first, while the Cornish - who also lay claim to inventing cream teas - prepare their scones the opposite way," notes the Mail.

Speaking of which, I had a cheddar and chive s(cone) from my local coffee shop today! I haven't had a scone in a long time, so I'm not sure, but it seemed a little aged. It was both dense and dry, a little tough. But the flavour was good, and I'd like to go back and see what a fresh one is like!

P.S. @Kankritty I loved the Great British Bake-off! I was so sad when Chetna was disqualified, though.

They should not be dry and tough - you need to speak firmly to the people who run that cafe. Firmly I say.

I no longer come over to MTS very often but if you would like to ask me a question then you can find me on tumblr or my own site tflc. TFLC has an archive of all my CC downloads.

Currants or no currants?

Personally, I hate currants, so none for me.

Currents are the source of eternal sadness and disappointment. Raisins too!
You know that crushing sadness that you feel when you bite into what you thought was a chocolate chipped biscuit or cake, only to find it was some sort of shrivelled up icky fruit? It legit hurts

Blueberries are weird- they're great in baked goods but aren't very pleasant when fresh (and unbaked)
Why can't scones be a thing here? I hate making food.

Kankritty? You need to update your chart. Mistermook on Page 1 pronounces "scone" as "BIS-kit". And I pronounce it "WOT-thuh-HELL-iz-INN-that-THING". .

I anxiously await your swelling tide of Disagrees. .
