Default Town/City Walls?
Ok i am trying to create a small town quite like the one in China (With a moat and walls and shit :P) But i cannot seem to find or create a good wall, i mean if the lots could be placed right next to each other it would look fine. The walls look really stupid at the moment but they will have to do for now.
Ok all i am asking is if anyone knows where i could find pre-made city wall you would be a life saver ^_^

P.S
I have already tried to use the China city wall for the area but it is too big for one and it just doesn't look good for the type of city that i am trying to create.
Thank You Muchly

I don't think they exist. At least I have not seen them. You probably have to make your own.

Yes, you'd need a custom object if you can't find anything in the game files that is suitable. Have you looked in our resources section, and on TJStreak's site?

One might be able to make the Castle Walls set viewable in the CAW Catalog. I am pretty sure that is what jje1000 did here, but I might be wrong. http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f...pg?t=1265253521
I've thought about doing this myself but never got around to it. Hope you find a solution and if you do, let us all know!

Those are already available in CAW without a mod, I used them in one of my worlds.

Those aren't part of a Castle wall set, they are part of the Great Wall of China imitation from the WA EP. And they're too big for a small city wall. I've tried doing this myself. If I knew or wanted to know anything about 3D modelling, I'd have taken apart the Forbidden City walls to make smaller wall parts for just this purpose. Those would have been a lot more useful as parts instead of one weird dual layer thing. But, meh.

What I ended up doing on a long abandoned project of mine was similar to what's pictured in the OP. Except instead of making lots just for wall parts, I made lots I intended to build on - you know, regular housing and community lots - and then made sure that it was big enough to build the wall parts on the edges of that. Including for the wall corners. Then I did my best to make the 'gaps' in the 'wall' look like intentional gates. Which did help the routing, in the end.

I hope that made any kind of sense. I've been up far too long and I'm afraid that without linking pictures it's just going to be confusing.

It probably would be less work to make your own wall section rather than futzing around with modifying the EA China walls. TJ Streak also posted a tutorial on making deco buildings. http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?bl...627688358556370 The walls are the same idea in that you are making a very simple model and putting a texture on it.

Basically, the walls would be a series of cubes. One big cube for the main piece, then a series of smaller cubes for the crenelations. By the way, you probably only need to put the crenelations on one side of the wall -- the side facing outside the city. If you look at most castle and city walls, you will see that most of the time there are no crenelations facing inside the city.

Generally, with the Sims, if EA or someone else has not made an item, you have to make it yourself. Or do without.

Aaron, and others reading this thread, you might be able to use SimSimillian's small walls. http://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=483599

Very useful, thanks for pointing our attention to that Will.

Why did I move here? I guess it was the weather.

How complicated is it, to size down an existing wall from CaW? And to fix the backside? Since I can't find a fitting download, I might aswell craft my own, but with the hundreds of tutorials I'm quite lost. Advice would be lovely to get.

Still struggling with CAW :x
