Um, hello Betcha didn't expect to see me around these parts, eh? Anyways, am fiddling with TS3 a bit and decided to try and actually make a sim, despite the fact that I think TS2 sims are so much cuter

Figured I should start with a not so painfully hard face to sim, so I picked Wilson

I'm a total TS3 n00b, so please offer -any- advice you think could help. Putting together the comparisons, I did notice eyebrows and nose are no good.

Thank you

Hi! I love this actor!
Well, first of all, I think you're doing a great job so far.
Some things I would tweak:

- decrease eyes and to come down the upper eyelid and brows;
- decrease nose tip a little bit;
- decrease the nose width a bit.

I would suggest you to use AWTs sliders and, perhaps, change the skintone (to my personal taste, this one is not matching him well, but it's just in my oppinion).

Do you need directions? He's looking really good already!

Nose bridge needs to be narrower. A change or brow may be in order, something a little bit more bushy. To me the entire face looks a little bit too long, move everything up. Eyes should be narrower, verticaly. That's all for now!

That's very good for a first attempt at a TS3 sim - he's recognisable already! I agree with previous posters - the things that leap out at me are that his eyes are too big, and also need to be narrower (play around with the upper and lower eyelid height settings), and his nose bridge needs to be narrower.

Something that will help with comparing the sim and the actor would be to put a full pic of each of them directly side by side with each other, so that we're not scrolling up and down from one to the other - makes it easier to see which features need tweaking, and also I think it might look like his face is a bit too low on his head and should come up a little, but I'm not sure, and seeing them side by side would make it easier to tell.

And I agree that TS2 sims are much cuter than TS3 ones! (But sometimes TS3 sims can be sorta cute, with effort!)

Thanks for the help and encouragement, monca, Phycorax and Esmeralda! I need all the help I can get, I think it'll make this learning process much easier I have some sliders and some basic CC. If you guys have any CC suggestions, that might help too. I've made the suggested changes, except changing the skintone because I didn't find a more suitable one yet.

Is it any better?

Oh, and there are many awesome and very cute TS3 sims out there, but I think cute sims are harder to make in S3 than they are in S2

He's coming along! What mostly stands out for me is that his eyes are still too big, and a bit too rounded - the real-life guy's are smaller, and also narrower and somewhat deeper-set. It could also help if you used a set of contacts with smaller irises, because the irises of the eyes you're using are very big - I tend to favour just about anything by Shady http://www.modthesims.info/browse.p...All=1&u=1603428 , or else escand's Oh My Tiffany http://www.modthesims.info/d/397231

His eyebrows also look too sort of dense, needs something more 'hairy' looking - I wonder if Arisuka's Untamed Stallion eyebrows might suit him? http://www.modthesims.info/d/413581

Nose bridge still needs to be a bit narrower. His lips look just about right, I think. He's looking cute - I think he will be one of those rare cute TS3 sims!

Thanks, Esmeralda, it's great to hear he's getting there These actually are Shady eyes, but I over did it with the iris size slider. I made them smaller, but I think maybe they should be even smaller. I also tried Ari's brows, but can't get them to be the right shape. I'll play with 'em some more, maybe I can figure it out. Update:

Great job - Misty Blue. He is very recognisable.

His eyes are way too big.
reduce the nose septum.
Reduce nostril size.
Eyes need to be closer together.
Reduce the eyelid to almost nothing.

Eyebrows are looking good.

I feel honoured, a Spanish magazine wants to feature my Desperate Housewives and Will Smith in their feature on celebrity sims.

OMG now Misty is on the Sims 3 boat YAY! *expects loads of nice Sims to use as her models*

I know how hard is to adjust for Sims 3 faces after you moved on from Sims 2. My first impression was "Ewww, what's wrong with their faces?!" when I first started playing it (I still think that basic EA Sims are super ugly) :D

Your Sim looks awesome, I recognized the man without looking at the reference pics

The eyes make him look a little cartoonish, they should be smaller in scale and less wide open. Try lowering his upper eyelid to achieve more relaxed look. Bringing the lower eyelid a tad up could also do the trick.
Make the nose bridge a little thinner and maybe decrease the nose mass, so the nose shape would get that triangle (?) look.

Also, you could try the custom eyebrow thickness slider and play some more with the eyebrows

Thanks, Audrey! Your suggestions are very helpful. Also, I love your sims Am not sure how to reduce the eyelid without changing the overall eye shape, is there a trick to doing that? Maybe I'm just being n00bish, LOL.

Thank you, Elexis, you're too kind Somehow I started to feel like I've simmed most of my favorite characters in TS2 (although I still have a bunch I plan to make, and I love TS2 way too much to move on to TS3 all together), so I decided that maybe I should give TS3 a go. These new simmies creep me out sometimes, their expressions not being as cute as TS2 ones. But perhaps it's all matter of getting used to it Thanks for your suggestions, I tried to do all of the changes. Hope he looks better now

The nose keeps bothering me, it always looks a lot different than it does in CAS. Also, do TS3 noses always animate a bit oddly? :P

Hope you're still working on him! He's looking good, but the main thing is that his eyes are still too big - I think scaling them down a tad more and lowering the upper eyelid height just a little more will help with that. Also, his nose bulb area is a bit big. And yes, I agree that TS3 noses animate oddly - I think ALL of their facial features animate oddly, but maybe that's just me - I don't like how cartoony their facial animations are, compared to TS2's more lifelike ones (except for how TS2 sims' eyebrows had that unnerving tendency to shoot halfway up their foreheads, that is!). (I seem to recall there was a mod for that, though, but am not sure.)
