Default Goal won't change
I just reinstalled the Sims life stories and I'm up to the dinner time goal on chapter 3 but no matter how many times I complete the goal, the game won't change the story goal in order to progress even though I've done everything required for the goal.

Is there away to fix this?

Did you put in any mods?

If you put in any mods please take them out until the story is over.

@marka93, no I don't have any mods in the game and to be honest I didn't know mods could be added to the game.

Since I made this thread the computer is refusing to start the game up, I think there's something wrong with the disk because my other games still start up with no problem, I've tried the game on my mum's laptop which is windows XP but the game is very laggy compared to the computer where it worked very smoothly with no lag at all when it actually worked on the computer. I did change the compatibility mode to windows XP as suggested by pizza over pm but that still didn't solve the problem as to why the game won't start up.

Its starting to sound like a computer problem than a game problem.

Well since it is not working at this time you may want to try this, uninsall the game then defrag your computer and restart then reinstall the game and see what happens.

Thanks, how do you defrag the computer?

@marka93, I uninstalled the game as suggested but every time I put the disk in to reinstall the game, the computer freezes and comes up with the message 'windows explorer is not responding', or something along those lines, so I choose restart windows explorer which is one of the options under the message, this does make the computer responsive again but then the task bar stops working and I end up having to restart the computer. I don't have this problem with any of my other games.

I should have mentioned before that the computer is windows vista so I couldn't defrag the computer the same way as in the linked tutorial but I did find away but it is different to how it is done on windows 7

Well it sounds even more that you have a computer problem.

Download both of these anti-spyware/malware programs and run them.

http://www.superantispyware.com/ The free one.

https://www.malwarebytes.org/downloads/ the top one that says free.
