Default Large fish tank with the base removed
I want to build an aquarium, the kind with a fish tank built into the wall, behind floor to ceiling glass. It hit me that should be easy enough, if I had a frameless window, and an expensive tank, without the wooden base, and possibly with the sand mesh enlarged so that it extends down to the floor. I'm not sure if this exists, but after ten years, someone else probably had the same idea.

These windows should work http://modthesims.info/d/70222
This too http://www.thesimsresource.com/down...ims2/id/201404/
You can get sealife stuff to put it in here http://verounique.livejournal.com/14140.html
and google fish sims 2 and you'll find fish to put in it too.

Rome wasn't built in a day

Need help finding building items, check out my building blog https://bestbuilditems4sims2.wordpress.com/

You might also want to try fatd's design kit here at MTS.

Here are some recolors
they are not windows per say, but create a hole in the wall effect as well.

Thanks. That design kit and coral reef will be especially useful. The main thing I'd like to find is this http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/File:Ts2...me_aquarium.png but without the wooden base, or glass, so that the aquarium can be animated.

There is a mod somewhere that lets you place the fish from the aquarium wherever you like. You could build a small pool even (you can make them with transparent sides) and then place the reef objects or plants and then the fish.

I no longer come over to MTS very often but if you would like to ask me a question then you can find me on tumblr or my own site tflc. TFLC has an archive of all my CC downloads.

Oh, I had no idea you could make pools with transparent sides. That mod sounds promising. I'll see if I can find it.

omglo it is possible to remove the wood base on the aquarium, however there is a floating metal section I can't get rid of and the glass can't be removed with a recolour.

ETA: I tried cloning it, got rid of the glass but still can't get rid of the floating metal section.

ETA 2: I was playing around with the Mr. Maritime that comes with PETS and found you can get rid of the base and glass but you do have to get the Sim to restock it.

There's actually a lot here built to allow that though the pool will probably be too big for your purposes but you can see what it looks like.

There's a tutorial somewhere though I can't seem to see it just now. If I get time, I'll have a look tomorrow. It might be on MikeInside (Edit 2 - it isn't there, I had a quick look).

You know, that download annoys me a little. A good few years ago, I made building lots with warped staircases which I offered for download here. Precisely the same sort of download as that one - utilising a building technique people found difficult at the time. Rejected because the 'build was incomplete.' Sigh - MTS is very inconsistent.

Edit: I think I got the fish here:

Thanks, everyone. I think I can combine all of these things and get the result I want. That Pets tank has some really cool coral. It could be used as deco, along with the InSim fish, to get around needing to restock.

I'm not sure how this works - can you share your work in this thread, Michelle or do we have to go through the whole approval process?

@omglo here you go hun, you will need PETS for this. When you get your aquarium wall finished please post a screenshot, I would love to see it.

Edited to remove the file from this post, after being contacted by HugeLunatic and told you are not allowed to share files in WCIF's.

I put something together on a residential lot, just to see how it would work. I plan to build a community aquarium soon.

I tried deleting the glass mesh out of the expensive aquarium, and if you angle that one just right, Sims can select it and watch the fish inside.

Here are links for more aquarium decorations

Could you explain this bit more, please? I don't understand how you did it! :-) Did you edit the actual aquarium object yourself?

I would love to see more pictures! :-)

And thank you for the links! :-D

Yes, I cloned and edited the object itself. It still has that metal piece at the top, though, which is good because it shows where to click to interact with the tank, but it doesn't look very nice. Also, the starfish and algae eater on the sides of the tank are now floating in midair. So, it's not perfect. If anyone wants it like it is right now, I can share it, though. I'll have more pictures, for the picture section, once the real thing is built.

Place it behind glass with move objects on and snap objects off. You want the first row of green gridmarks to be facing forward and to hang outside of the glass.
