Default How to create a cemetery
I don't see a way to create a lot as cemetery, then change to community lot. If I create a community lot as one, will the option appear on tombstones to send it there? I have 3-4 tombstones on residential lots in the neighborhood, but I may want to move them at some point. Always having bedrooms upstairs in the case of ghosts isn't always possible. My ghosts are content but it is annoying to hear doors or gates when they should be able to go through walls. Also using a tub shower, they're ghosts, why do they pull the shower curtain closed, then not open it! It's still use-able by sims though. Plus the fact that knowledge sims want a community lot to satisfy see ghost wants. :D

Have you tried to send any of them to a community lot yet.
Have you tried to put one in your inventory and see if you can place it down on a community lot yet.

I haven't tried because I wasn't sure if it would cause problems. I'd rather create a new lot if it works that way. I block townies and this would be for my sims, no worrying about anyone kicking or breaking anything. I did move a tombstone along with a family when they needed a larger house. The ghost still appears there, but he needs a new place since there are 4 adopted toddler siblings and a few bedrooms on the main floor. Their mother's tombstone is on an uninhabited house lot where she died and I want to move her too. The conventional 'send tombstone to' will work? Does the inventory method work to community lot work? Thanks

I finally had time to get into game. I created a small cemetery community lot, then went to a house with tombstone and the only option is mourn. If I transported to community lot via inventory, there's no way to save them there. Is there any other safe way of moving them?

EDIT: I finally made it back in and took 2 headstones to the cemetery via inventory. Got the option to place each one, then the sim went back home. I then went to the lot to set them where I wanted and they were gone. The headstones were not placed near the edges of lot, so that couldn't have been the problem. They are not in the sims inventory.

The same happened to me too once.
You have to check your neighbourhood with HoodChecker.
http://modthesims.info/d/456523

The HoodChecker is going to ask you for a cemetery.
You'll see a list of community lots.
Choose your cemetery lot and the gravestones should be there.

HoodChecker works for Pets Stories? Oh, also on Windows8.1?

EDIT: HoodChecker doesn't work for Pets Stories, thanks anyway

I was able to check Pet Stories neighbourhoods...

Download the latest version.
Perhaps you use an old one.

Mootilda doesn't say anything about Stories series compatibility. You should definitely make a backup before you modify the neighborhood.

You need to browes to the location of any of the Stories Games. (You should get some warnings when you do it this way.)

Or.

To use Hood Checker for the Stories games I move the hoods over to my Sims 2 Doc. folder and run the Checker and let it fix what it can then I put the hood back in the Stories Games folder to play. (No warnings will pop up.)

However, if you check a Sims Castaway Story neighborhood, it will be unable to continue and the HC crashes (for me).

As for LS and PS, it recommends to create a back-up first before checking.
But you can check a LS/PS neighborhood and even remove the found issues.

It's because the HC recognizes the version numbers of the LS/PS/CS 'hoods as unsupported versions and therefore suggests to create a back up first.
Although if you extract the version numbers and delete them, the HC doesn't recognize them as unsupported versions and checks the 'hood like any other Sims 2 neighborhoods.

You can add the version numbers back after checking.
That's how I did it once.

I haven't played the neighborhood much afterwards.
But there shouldn't be any problems.

I'm playing Pets Stories because Sims2 doesn't work well on Windows8. Don't understand all the technical stuff. I wouldn't have moved the tombstones if there were an answer as to whether or not it was possible. I have the no unlink on delete and the other mods already in game. Hopefully that will prevent problems.

I'll write a picture tutorial for creating graveyards in Life Stories and Pet Stories.

As for the dead sims, you can check them in SimPE to see if they still have their character data.

Oh, yes, that's what I wanted to say. I only have CS, so I didn't know that HC was compatible with the other Stories games.

Yes, CS made some fundamental changes regarding neighborhoods while LS and PS use the standard Sims 2 game engine.

No I haven't because I didn't have much time.
But it's really easy.

Firstly, backup your neighborhood. Do not skip this step.
Then, put the tombstones which you want to move into your sim's inventory.
Go to a community lot with your sim and click on the ground.
There should be an option to place the tombstone.
After that, send your sim home and quit the game to check your neighborhood with HoodChecker to see if there are any issues.
A pop-up appears where you can choose a cemetery for your tombstones.

You can actually still check the neighborhood with HoodChecker without changing the version number.
It will just warn you but you can still check your neighborhood.

Since LS and PS are identical to Sims 2, you can safely use HoodChecker for LS/PS neighborhoods.
But CS neighborhoods are not compatible with HoodChecker. HC will even crash if you try to check a CS neighborhood.
