This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default Sims 2 Toddlers, Kids, and Elders with white skin and writing
Hi! So I recently installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled my Sims 2 games onto my laptop with Windows 8. I have all the sims 2 expansion packs and stuff packs. When I run the game, it works fine, until I look at toddlers, kids, and elders. They all have white skin with the original texture code written on it. I've looked everywhere for an answer, finally, i just uninstalled the whole game. Now, i have the sims 2 Double Deluxe, Fun with Pets collection, University Life collection, Best of Business collection, and seasons installed. But the skin is still messed up for those 3 age groups. I have no downloads or mods, it is a fresh game. I've tried looking for a corrupt file, but the page that talked about did not have clear instructions on how to find the compressedfile.zip or how to do the fix if the game I run from is a collection. Currently, my computer tells me to use my Fun with Pets Collection disc. If someone knows a fix with step by step instructions, I would really appreciate it.

Okay, that sort of thing usually means that the files called on are only partially there. Since you recently uninstalled and reinstalled, the most likely thing is that there's a registry file that didn't get completely uninstalled and that will have to be removed manually before it can be properly reinstalled.

Not being familiar with Windows 8, I'm not sure where to find registry files, but perhaps someone will come along soon who knows all about them; and in the meantime you can at least change your google searches and see if that leads you anywhere.

Ugly is in the heart of the beholder.

Windows 8 is very strict on 1 file overwritten another and will not allow it to happen under normal settings.

I know I wrote this up for UC and mods but windows updates have screwed up a lot of things for older games to work as they should.
Disregard UC and put in your game folders names in it place and it should work for you.

1. Disconnect from the internet then turn off "User Account Control". *(Or UAC.)
2. Restart your computer.
3. Check after restart that UAC is turned off.
4. Change Program folder for UC to read and write.
5. Some times it takes a restart for this to take effect.
6. Change My Doc. for UC to read and write.
7. Some times it takes a restart for this to take effect.
8. Now try your mods and if they work then restart your computer.
9. Check again that mods are working, if so then turn back on UAC.

I'm a little lost. How would I translate this to work for my games?

Your should be something like this "C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Games" and if you have more than 1 type of EA Games then it will be something added to the end with Sims 2 in it.

And you Doc folder will look like this "C:\Users\(your computer name)\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2"

EA Games if all you got in there is the Sims 2 otherwise the folder called "The Sims 2".

Okay, so how do I change EA Games to read and write mode? Will I still have to disconnect from the internet?
