Comments: Missing a bedroom. I bet the cats love the rough wood floor throughout the house You have definitely captured a cohesive feel to this build. I love the faux stacked rock chimney – but I question the windows you placed in that section. If it really were a chimney, windows wouldn't be there.

Comments: I enjoy the cheery red interior, and overall decorating you've done on this home. It pulls together very nicely, with plenty of room for the sims and their animals without seeming 'empty'. For improvement, I suggest not flood-filling your home with the same flooring for outdoor and indoor and every room. You could have thrown some carpet in the bedroom or tile in the bathroom, or used different flooring for your porches to break up the monotony. You are also missing a second bedroom which was outlined in the Newman's requirements.
Jo: A very interesting house, I would never have thought of some of those combinations. 67 + 5 no cc bonus 72.

Comments: This house definitely has the ‘wow’ factor for me! I love your tiny gym that is separate but not with the spectator wallpaper – great idea! Great floorplan, inside and out too. I love how you’ve done the patio area (How did you do those stairs? Are they CC?) There is no railing by the edge of the patio so unfortunately I had to dock a point for that (see previous rounds). Also I know the recliner looks great set at an angle but unfortunately it is not playable in that position.

Comments: I think the build and exterior landscaping are very superb here. I'm loving the tiered levels down to the pool and the stepping stone floor tile design is really slick. The object selection and placements are very well done too. My only lament is that the first floor tiles clash most heinously and prevents this from a perfect score. Something about the bright blue squares against the dark blue circles makes my heart cry. I'd do away with the kitchen tile and maybe replace it with a wooden floor or make the living room wood and put that dark blue flooring in the kitchen. Either way, right now the kitchen reminds me of a depressing disco floor and loses the modern aspect that this house is trying for.
Jo: I love the outside with the stepping stones, grey brick combined with that fence, the planters and corned stairs. I will have to try that myself. 72 + 5 no cc bonus 77

Comments: The facade/front is rather bland… but, I love the pond – from one angle it looks a bit like a butterfly – was that intended? I think the roof could be improved by roofing over the entry/porch – that would merge at least 3 of the roof sections and get rid of that deep center valley. You really shouldn't switch wallpapers mid-wall (Unless doing it “on purpose” like for the Lambert girls) And, IMHO, the bathroom is too big and should've been put between the bedrooms. To fix it: move the bathroom to Dad's bedroom area, his bedroom to the office, and the office to the bathroom. NOTE – this is just what I'd do and I'm offering this as a suggestion to help you improve your skillz. I hope I'm not being offensive. Each of your builds is getting better! Keep up the good work

Comments: Your floorplan is good but some of the rooms are out of proportion to others. The little girl’s room is a nice size but the parent’s bedroom is tiny. I think I would’ve made the bedroom larger than the office and put a double bed in there (you never know when he might meet someone else :P). The bathroom is over-sized in my opinion too but the kitchen and lounge area look good. Just because the father likes red and blue does not mean that you have to use both colours in the same room. I would pick a neutral colour and enhance it with plops of red and/or blue. Your roof could do with some more work – the pitch is rather too high and it doesn’t flow together very well.

Comments: Your landscaping is aces - very lush and beautiful. The shed is decorated well and really drives the point he is into tinkering. Your interior Deco has a lot of heart, I especially like the kid's room. As for the build itself, all rooms are boxes and the bathroom seems too large for what you've done with it, maybe you could have built in a small separate room for the toilet to fill up the space or added a shower as well. Consider that the parent hates pink yet there is a pink toy box and a play-oven with pink in the common area. The TV seems more like what should be at a sports bar or hospital and confuses the aesthetic. I am not sure why the child's room has two different wall papers, seems odd.
Jo: A very colourful house! No mistaking what their favourite colours are here. Good use of terrain paint, the pond is lovely too. 63.5 + 5 no cc bonus 68.5

Comments: This looks like a house from a HOT country All those “warm” colors going on – Whew! The Fallen Fir fence works well here - I thought that fence was only appropriate for campgrounds! (Thanks for proving me wrong! LOL!) I'd really like to see some 'blue' to cool things down a bit – like maybe blue flowers? Nice job on the pavilion, BTW. That's where I'd spend all my time – course, that's where the juice is too… I'm not taking any points away for using curtains; but, I don't think they are needed on every window – only in bed/bathrooms. (Especially when such cute decorative windows are used!) Good job!

Comments: I really like the covered BBQ area. I really like how you have screened the pool from the roadway – gives some privacy. Interesting floorplan. Comments: You have a good build here and my favorite thing is that gazebo structure for the BBQ eating and bar – very fun and unique! Your landscaping is very well done too, I like how the tree blocks street goers from seeing who is in the pool. Lots of bright colors! I like how you did the wooden dance floor, very in the spirit of this party couple to have it designed like so. I don't really understand the Christmas bows on all the doors and while you have explained the sun lights, those lights are one of the gaudiest fixtures in the game in my opinion and you can imagine my horror when I saw the entire exterior plastered with them. I'm unnerved because the second story over the back door to the patio looks like a face with the two lights on each side of the window looking like o [] o
So while I can't really fault that differing taste I'm going to say you did overdo it with the exterior lights because they are in places not even needed.

Comments: Interesting urban lot. It’s all a little too dark. I think I would’ve kept the brick throughout the build and just used tiles for the bathrooms and kitchen area. The upstairs bathroom is enormous and I think the gym could’ve gone in there and some of the hallway could be partitioned off to make the bathroom. The kitchen counters are cutting off the window. Although some judges asked for curtains I don’t think the ones you have used are right for the style of build. I like the landscaping. A half-hipped roof over the smaller roofed area would be best as well.

Comments: Hey, I think this is perfect. It's a really slick gothic urban dream home. The fireplace is a delightfully unique build, the master bathroom is amazing with that stage tool being utilized for shelving, the outdoor area is great for the setting you've presented, it's all just really great and I can't praise it enough. You did a really great job!

Comments: There is a cat bed missing. From the outside this looks like a very charming bungalow – great job! Be careful when designing the inside that you don't put appliances in front of windows – or, as in the case of the window next to the stove, use a shorter window. (And, the curtain over the stove is a BIG fire hazard!) Instead of the couch blocking the front of the fish-tank, maybe 2 recliners would be a better choice – or, if the entry/porch was 2T smaller, the living area could've been 2T wider, and allowed traffic to the tank. I like the angled bedroom doors and carpet runner – they add a nice character to the floorplan I love that you were able to add a pool! My lab-pup would love that yard!

Comments: Cute little house. The pet’s items are all there as are the two bedrooms. I’m a little unsure about the placement of the aviary and the womrat in the bedroom though. Not sure I’d like those in my bedroom. Also be careful with the placement of large furniture items. The fridge is blocking a window and so is the fish tank.

Comments: This is a decent build, cozy with a splash of charm and with a good exterior. Not flashy or bad but not overtly eye-catching either. The strong points are the build angles, the diagonal animal statues and the fish area behind the couch. Unfortunately for all the greatness of the deco, the playability takes a hit because there's no way they can feed their fish or clean that tank. In addition, the bird will wake up sims who are trying to sleep so the placement of the birdcage also treads on playability points. The birdcage is better suited in a non-bedroom, you could try moving it to where the food bowls are and then move those outside for the doggos needs. I also enjoy the fact the dog houses match the exterior of the house.
Jo: You have done a nice job adding some decorative touches. I also like that the house matches the dog kennels. 63 +5 no cc bonus 68

Comments: Nice use of CC And, I love the creative floor coverings. It looks like the Lambert's have outgrown their home a bit – BUT, they are adapting quite well (ie: putting the living room on the 2nd floor.) There are a lot of things to keep little hands occupied – especially in the outdoor play area. Since you used CC – I think a nicer 'build set' (matching windows and doors) would've made the outside look a lot more impressive.

Comments: The exterior of this house doesn’t give me the ‘wow’ but the internal layout and most of the décor does! The only part I don’t like internally is the colour of the downstairs bathroom. You only have one high chair for two toddlers. I love all the décor touches that you have used and my favourite rooms are the teenage girl’s room and the boy’s room. I like how they have compromised on the wall coverings and then have decorated each of their spaces to reflect what they like and enjoy. Cute little playhouse too. A good use of CC!

Comments: I think you've done a wonderful job for the Lamberts here. Your tree house is divine, there are so many nice little details added with the custom content like the driveway chalk and cozy interior deco, and I adore that you managed to pull of a good shared room for goth/girly teens but still it's cohesive and not so stark a divide. I appreciate the custom dining table rug you build with different carpets. I really have no critique of this, so good job!

Comments: A different exterior on the house would've sold the fir fence better, I think. It's all a bit too confused for me – especially with the groovy front door. I love your tree-house solution though, I think I'd spend all my time out there! The best decorating on this build is the girls' room. Great job there! The rest of the house… I dunno; I've never been a fan of orange and green as a color combo (the Scotch and Irish in me fight too much, I guess!)

Comments: I think you've catered to the needs of the Lamberts very well, a lot of room and not too cramped. The tree house execution was unique and clever to tie it in like a terrace to the boys room. The only portion I have a critique on is the over-abundance of the brown carpet on the second floor. I know bedrooms usually have the same carpet but maybe the upper landing could have been wood or a green colored carpet to separate that up.

Comments: So I really like the roof of this house, it's interesting. The canopy area is unique as well and the outside very well landscaped around it. The inside is good, the shape of the rooms is pretty basic and the longness of the dance room seems a bit oddly planned. I also think the grill is a little too far out of the way in the backyard from the door to the kitchen or the outside eating table in the canopy, maybe bring that over closer. Please also consider the parent hates pink but they have a pink painting in their bedroom and the child hates red and there is a red toy on the shelf in their room.

Comments: Please take your pictures from a sims-eye POV (not from the pets eye-level! LOL!) No BBQ eating area. No sink in bathroom – it may not be necessary per se, but not having one is just gross. There is no access to the porch off the living room (behind the grill) AND, no access to the dining room porch, or upstairs balcony – why? That would drive me nuts if I lived there! There is enough space, and I think it would be highly beneficial, to have a 3T powder room downstairs (it could easily fit along the wall where the phone is.) For the most part your color/style choices are cohesive. Good job there. I'd have preferred if all the outside stone matched (in other words – skip the gray bricks – use only the stacked stone.) …and fences too. Picket is not modern; the metal 'balcony' fence IS. (And, the cement pool decking would've “sold” the metal fence just fine.) NOTE – this is just what I'd do and I'm offering this as a suggestion to help you improve your skillz. I hope I'm not being offensive. Each of your builds is getting better! Keep up the good work

Comments: Great looking modern house! The floorplan looks great. Interesting décor throughout too. The window in the kitchen has counters occluding it though. The bathroom is huge and I don’t think that shower works in a modern house. The uni shower with walls around it would work far better. I like the terraces.
Great landscaping too. An image taking tip: Please raise the height of your camera so that I don’t have to look under the bed at the messy dust! Seriously your images would look much better taken from a slightly higher angle

Comments: I enjoy the modern dual toned wood exterior and stone base build of this home. It's kind of a breath of fresh air for its uniqueness. I dislike the sun-shaped light, it detracts from the cool look of build with its gaudiness and seems to pop up a lot this round. I may just have a grudge against it at this point. You are missing an outdoor BBQ eating area to go along with your grill as outlines in the Rodney's requirements. While I appreciate the rather artsy style, close shots and compositions of your simtography, I get little out of it for judging purposes to gauge how you decorated the entire room. Next time please take straight forward interior shots. Also, you have too many window styles going on. I count 4, try trimming down to two styles/types to avoid a sense of disconnect that's more appropriate for the Rhodes Family.
Jo: A very unique looking house outside and I like the landscaping. Can you please indicate what and where the random object is in your text next time-thanks. 63.5 + 5 no cc bonus 68.5

I’m not too keen on the kitchen layout. I would prefer a worktop next to my oven to put my pots and pans on rather than the sink. If you swap the fridge and the oven I think that would work better in my opinion. The recliner looks great set at an angle but unfortunately it is not playable in that position. Comments: Very exquisite as usual. Your interior and exterior decorating are fabulously cohesive and detailed, loving the signature build angles and I simply adore that sitting area on the first floor with that fountain and the tile. While the build is super amazing and interesting I honestly would not feel safe in this house form a structural standpoint of it being stilted on singular walls instead of closed triangular or square walled columns. I don't see a third workout piece that is required. Evans Sim requires three workout items plus a pool.

Comments: I love your idea of an old mill factory refurbished into a home. The best part I think is that your garden requirement was taken indoors and used in a greenhouse room. I would say that you could put in full brick walls and still have the whole lot give off an older feel; there's a fine line between refurbishing something old and leaving it decrepit for this aesthetic the Rhodes are gunning for. It's a nice lot and you made good use of the cc, except...that fracking sun-shaped light shows itself yet again in your kitchen and while Rhodes can get a pass for using something so ugly because it is rather hippee-ish, my dislike of it only strengthens for marring everything it's placed on.

Comments: My favourite part of this build is the aviary room – so pretty! I’m not too sure the ground floor layout works very well with where you have placed the sofa and the TV. To get to the rest of the house you are going to have to walk in front of the TV every time – boy would that irritate me! There seems to be quite a lot of unused space downstairs. Upstairs the bathroom has a really odd configuration in my opinion. I like the cute animal statues guarding the entranceway.

Comment: Your lot is really great and the two best parts of it are the paw pond and the bird room. I could gush about that aviary room like all day because it's perfect! You did a very good job with interior decorating and a good job on landscape too. I'm not a big fan of the four different exterior types on the house, it seems like too much, the yellowish panels don't seem to match or pair well with the light greenish blue – next time go with fewer types unless you are decorating for Rhodes. I really like how you decorated the main bedroom and even brought in the fish motif for the upstairs bathroom. Though I find it odd though the shower is in the same bathroom as bath, toilet, and sink, it has to be entered from a different door. You also did a great job of handling all the requirements and making them fit into the house in a sensible manner.
Jo: At first I was wondering why does the pond had three little ponds... a pet paw! Very cute. I love the bird room; the rug reminds me of pebbles. 67 +5 no cc bonus 72.

Comments: Very “sporty” - which suits the Evans just fine I don't think this style requires curtains on every window – just the bed/bathrooms would suffice (no points lost though.) The downstairs bathroom is huge! IMHO full bathrooms are only necessary where the bedrooms are – this should've been a half bath (toilet and sink.) The build and deco level here is very good – but not outstanding enough to give full points when compared to what others have submitted. Keep up the good work!

Comments: This is my favourite of your entries so far! I like the colour scheme and the floorplan, although I’m not sure someone on living on their own needs two full bathrooms, I would’ve used some of the saved budget on something else. Try placing some of the furniture at an angle rather than lined up in a row next time. The pool looks very exposed to the general public, perhaps a fence or something to shield it from the roadway? The outdoor ‘gym’ is a nice touch but looks very rustic rather than modern, I think I would’ve shielded that off too.

Comments: I don't find this house as modern styled as it could be. The round columns are a very big detraction from the modern aesthetic. While modern houses are blocky and can have overhanging upper floors, the weight is usually supported with walls, or other block-shaped columns you can see if you just google 'modern house'. So instead of fencing the entire patio area you could have used some walls to support some of that overhang with modern stone covering. Interior wise, the objects are fine and they match the palette you chose, and I love the black and red palette, but I find the flooring choices create an aesthetic mess. Checkered linoleum is not modern – it's retro and is overbearing being used all across the left side of the house and with a different version in the first floor bathroom not used anywhere else in the home so it's not cohesive. The top floor just seems flood-filled making an odd tiled bedroom. To sort this out I would suggest removing all checkered tile and replacing the kitchen with wood floors, use the same black tile for both bathrooms, bring the red carpet up to the bedroom and use the same kitchen wood flooring for the hallway on the second floor. Sorry I am so harsh but this didn't hit the mark for me.

Comments: This is a good solid build – not outstanding – but nice. Well done The rooms are placed appropriately, and the colors are cohesive. There could be more terrain paint – the grass looks pretty pristine for 6 kids running around on it. LOL!

Comments: Cute house. I’m not sure why there are two bathrooms on the same floor, I think one downstairs and the other upstairs would’ve worked better. I like how you’ve divided up the teens room. I think the garden could’ve been screened off from the road better though – it’s very exposed. The treehouse is cute.

Comments: I quite like the build you did here, especially how the exterior of the house looks with those charming red windows on the top floor. I also like how you executed the girls' shared room. The tree house looks good, all requirements are there. I like how you decorate the common areas. My only critique is that every single bathroom is has different decorating and usually houses are built the similar bathroom styling to save on cost. It doesn't make sense the bottom one should have flowers, the master one to have multi-colored tiles, and then one on the same floor to have paw prints, it just seems random and results in less overall cohesiveness of the interior design. I just went into all my bathrooms and confirmed they have the same tile before I published this to double check. If you that is too boring to have them all match tile and wall, then focus on how you decorate with objects to bring uniqueness about them. Maybe have fish wall deco for the one the kids use and a towel hanger for the parents, or a flower picture for the main bathroom everyone uses.
Jo: I love how your tree house is on two levels, clever way to make the stairs shorter. Can you take your lower floor plan closer next time, we only need the overview of the yard on the foundation picture. Also remember to use the 3 dots or swatch tool to take away the grid lines. 69.5 + 5 no cc bonus 74.5

Comments: This is great! It's a truly modern styled home and I adore every inch of it! I especially appreciate the technique you did to make the closet interesting with the columns and the overhead board to create a false facade. I like the shape of the pool and the whole outside patio area. I also like the use of a window to make a partition between the shower and the rest of the bathroom, it's one of my favorite build tricks to get a bathroom to look more exciting. I'm excited to look at this home, you did a great job using the items to decorate and create a good sense of space for the Evans Sim to live in.
Jo: That wardrobe is super clever. The wooden square shaped column and that horizontal wood deco piece, right? Like judge 2, totally nicking that idea! It finishes it off and looks much more masculine that a curtain. 74 + 5 no cc bonus 79

Comments: A ‘wow’ entry! This has so much kerb appeal with the sweeping roof line. The internal layout is very good too. What I’m not so keen on is where the log effect walls have been retained. I think it would look better with all paint or paper or all log paper. I love the fake garage

Comments: This is a nice woodsy hideaway home and I'm really digging your steep cabin roof. A very unique shape and build overall! The room shapes are very well done and the interior spacing is great! The exterior landscaping is lush and beautiful. You kept a good conscientiousness of the loved and hated colors of the family. I think your interior decorating is aces for this house. You could have easily flood-filled the floors because it was a cabin but added tiles and constructed rugs out of carpet in the appropriate rooms. Great job!

Comments: Nice try – porches NEED railings though. I wondered if anyone would make the kid a boy – thank you IMHO – both bathrooms are just too large; especially the downstairs one. More counters MAY have helped sell the upstairs one, I dunno. Wainscoting is expensive, and usually reserved for formal areas. It shouldn't have been used throughout the whole downstairs – maybe just in the 'entry' area with the marble floors. Does the garage/shed have a door? You've done a terrific job with terrain paint. YAY! And, the gardens are gorgeous But, the outside 'look' of this build is too confused – futuristic panels, aluminum siding and fancy brickwork, stained glass front door, plain/cheap windows, and the fancy rounded 'Empire' back door. Pick one style and stick with it for the whole build next time. K? Good luck

Comments: I like your interesting roof and house shape. For the most part this entire lot is really well done to complete all wants and requirements for the family. I like the interior decorating, especially on the first floor stove area and the parent's bedroom. I also appreciate how the monkey bars, tall flowers, and the fencing match, it's just a nice aesthetic to see. My nitpicking critique are that the upper bathroom seems off and not to be as harmonious with the rest of the interior – could be the completely different bathroom tile or the space of it, I know it's an awkward shaped room but it seems too big for the bathroom it is – perhaps you could have added a separate shower or a room for the toilet to get it to have more sense of fullness. I don't think the awning works with the rest of the exterior. You also have a lot of exterior types going on which makes the outside look seem too busy. I don't think the white brick/tan edging works, maybe you could have used the same white brick on the base in place of that. I do like how the light blue panelling matches the other panelling used on the front area that protrudes outward to create a unique facade.
Jo: Nicely decorated, I like that there is enough pink and red to be easily seen but that it doesn’t over power everything.

Round 4 Playalong: The Lamberts
Attempt two. Ahem.I've taken a slight liberty with the name. It seems that my "Lambert" family weren't very clear when giving their surname to the contest transcriber, and it was misspelled. They are actually the Lamrabets, from Morocco. Parents Aryn and Yasmine grew up there and met in their youth before moving abroad for Aryn's scientific career. Yasmine was always taken with this charismatic young man with a fierce intelligence but kindness in his eyes too. She had always wanted a large family, and she feels like she hit the jackpot, with the perfect companion to raise them with. They decided to wait until they were financially stable to have children but because of Aryn's prowess in his field, they've been lucky to manage even more than that and afford this spacious home. It's just that there are now so many of them, spacious is relative, and they have definitely filled this home to bursting with love and colour.
This cosy, welcoming home costs $79,977
The front elevation shows a colourful flower garden, the impressive feature windows, the verandah and a lemonade stand the children sometimes use in Summer. A neighbour walks past but doesn't top to say hello today.
And the back. Here you can see the treehouse in its entirety including the toybox which has faded in the sunlight which bathes this side of the property.
Aside from the small flower garden at the front of the house, the parents wanted a low-maintenance garden with space for the children to play. The bench on the verandah offers a cool, shaded place to watch the older kids while the babies can play closer to the parents' supervision (there is a xylophone toy here, visible on the floor plan.) Aryn's colleague, somewhat of an inventor, built the playhouse a few years ago when the girls were younger. They don't often venture up here now, but the boys love it.
As the family grew it became more difficult to fit everyone into the ordinary-sized kitchen to eat, so they built this outside area, as they love to cook and eat outdoors. When it rains they just have to take their plates indoors or onto the verandah. When the twins, Naima and Layla, aged 1, grow up they might have to extend this but for the moment, it works. (I like to pretend that the children sometimes use the tea table as their personal eating space.) The counter out here prevents sims from wandering inside to place the serving plate down.
In through the front door. I wanted it to feel like the Lamrabets had adapted a quite standard Sim house into their personal Moroccan themed paradise, which is why I have kept most of the windows and the ceilings as standard types. The tiled floor is hardwearing and colourful.
The unseen wall from the kitchen holds cooking equipment and family notices. They still have the old table in here. Sometimes a child does homework here, half supervised by Yasmine while she is cooking, or somebody in a rush will use it for a quick snack. A large fridge contains enough food for all the family, and a dishwasher is essential too (see floor plan for these).
The living room boasts a beautiful tiled fireplace as well as the feature windows - decorative only, as the chimney has not been swept in several years. A pot plant stands in the hearth (for gameplay purposes, an invisible fence in front of the fireplace prevents sims from trying to light it. I tested this, and they can't, even when directed to.) There is an old smoke alarm installed from when the fireplace was active just in case. The family don't watch TV as they prefer reading, playing with each other, or pursuing their individual hobbies. The living room has just enough space for them all. (The toybox is usable, the bookcase isn't, but there are bookcases present in several other rooms, and I think they prefer to read in a quieter environment.)
Upstairs in the hallway, there are bookcases, a potty (just visible lower right) and stairs to the attic space. These are accessible, I checked. The children even slide down them fairly regularly.
In the master bathroom, we can see a walk-in shower (fully usable and tested), toilet, counter sink with mirror, and ornate bathtub.
The Lamrabet's fifth pregnancy caused much excitement in the household when it was found that they would be welcoming twins! The older children all worked together to create lovely things for their bedroom. Required object! They drew pictures and Mohamed, who was seven or eight at the time, created a lovely set of model planes to hang from the ceiling. This bedroom is a squeeze because they decided to fence the fireplace completely off for safety, but once the twins are older, this will no longer be required.
I ran out of pictures, but the parents' room is also on this floor. Details on the floor plan.
Upstairs is the boys' room. Mohamed is aged nine and Rachid is five. Behind the camera is a bookcase and another small storage cabinet. Mohamed loves to play pretend, and Rachid loves dancing. Luckily, he likes one sister's pop music just as much as the other's preference for metal! They always have time to dance with him.
Bunk beds are key in this small space! Seventeen year old Sophia sleeps on the top bunk. She's beautiful, and she knows it. She likes to date artsy and sporty types. Geeks seem to get on too well with her dad, which is just weird! ACR informed me shortly after they moved in that she likes girls. Aziza, aged thirteen, sleeps below.
Both girls are really into clothes and make up. You can see the split on their dressing table and wardrobe, though! They have very different styles. Sophia is the queen of traditional beauty and her side (and inspiration poster) is on the left. Aziza's style is more alternative, cyber goth, but the girls find a common ground in comparing products and techniques. The dressing table is near the window so that they can get their looks right in natural lighting.
The older children have their own additional bathroom with a shower, toilet and large sink counter area. They've personalised the mirror. No privacy window necessary up here, as it's too high for anybody to see in, which leaves the room nice and light.
Now, floor plans! Foundation - no cheating!
Ground floor. Hallway, living room, kitchen, downstairs toilet (not otherwise pictured). Note the xylophone on the decking, the phone in the hallway, the smoke alarm in the kitchen. The potty (light blue) in the downstairs toilet is accessible for training.
First floor. Hallway, master bath - note cleaning supplies on a high shelf, with spare towels on the lower shelves. Someone dropped their panda toy. And the bar across the bath isn't in the way of toddlers or anyone else who uses it. (I have a no censor mod. So no pics!) In the twins' room, you can *just* see a little ikea stacking toy by the changing table. They can use this without issue. The parents' room I decided not to photograph another way, but they have more calming white walls, the item in the top left corner is a shelf with books and plants, the bed is accessible, the wardrobe is accessible. On the shelves near the bed they have more books and a tennis ball they confiscated from someone who was playing with it indoors. An ikea heart pillow has been abandoned on their floor.
Second floor - NOTE - rotated 90 degrees to the left to fit more detail in. The girls' room is on the left, as you can see, they are quite messy! The boys' room is neater on the right, and you can see skateboards and ice skates in the bedroom. Their shared hallway has a bookcase and laundry bin. The bathroom at the top of the picture is narrow but functional and pleasant.
Bonus treehouse floorplans, sans tree. Ground supports.
Main deck with flag and octopus toybox (faded)
Lookout tower.
I have bonus pics of the family but I'll wait to post them I guess

Thanks judges! I figured there was a chance I would get dinged on the full bath and exterior, but for the life of me I couldn't figure out a way to change it. If I had just posted a WIP picture, that may have saved me, as you all surely would have caught that! I rearranged the bathroom and got it all in this time, and changed the outside of the house. Does this look better? (I know the round is over, but it will bug me if I don't ask!)

Thanks judges for the comments I have something to say though – for all I remember the recliners are usable at angle (but I’m not 100% sure as I haven’t used one in a long time, I didn’t test it in that lot because I thought it’s fine), can someone confirm/deny that for sure? And I did fulfil the requirements – Jo said that a stereo and a TV are fine as workout items, and I have those + a stationary bike. As for the railings – where should I put them? I did put them on the balconies, but didn’t n that area where the flowers are as those were supposed to work as a ‘fence’ – I’d assume no-one would want to step on flowers And the kitchen sink – that’s actually a preference, I like to have a quick access to the sink when I’m cooking so I put it close for my sims too.

I don't think recliners work at an angle. I tried with the Rodney's pool chairs and they wouldn't sit in them.

OK I checked in an unmodded game and indeed the recliner isn’t usable, so I shouldn’t get that point back, it’s my fault for assuming it was fine and not checking it, but well, it happens But the stereo does work as an object for increasing body skill, so I should get the point for requirements back
But I want to thank you for the comments about landscaping as it’s a very important part of a lot for me If I ever host a contest (I’m thinking about doing that in summer but I’m unsure), landscaping will have it’s significant part in the score
Edit: thank you enebya and William for checking the recliners too

Recliners are fiddly - if you have them in just the right spot, they ARE usable on an angle. I don't have an example picture, but I know I've fiddled with them and got them to work before. They have to be kinda out in the middle of everything, and you may have to have the sim approach it from a different angle before they can use it.

Well, my treehouse balcony and the girls' room are hits and I finally got my CC bonus, so I'm happy. Everything else is just matters of taste and if even the judges don't agree on the color scheme and the groovy door I'm not going to worry about it. If the bathroom hadn't had the second door there would've been traffic pile-ups in there and I didn't see any reason to make a circuit of the house to potty train the toddler after taking him out of the high chair; when playability and aesthetics clash, aesthetics go to smash. IMHO wall-to-wall carpeting should be wall-to-wall; if the space doesn't have a different use I don't want to change the floor treatment. And that's what makes horse races, as they say.
Thanks to the judges for their consideration and enjoy your shots. I'll just have a ginger ale, please.

Thank you for the comments. I winced at the one about the grill. I previously had the grill you see here, changed it over to the cheap picnic grill because of the original budget after I read about the railings (in my neck of the woods, those grills are on the ground), and then, relieved, changed it back because I managed to squeeze enough money to get the old one again, but forgot to put it back. Oops. I should have stuck with the picnic grill!
I'm a little puzzled about the wants in the last score. I had a choice of going with a dark shelf, which I didn't think would go as well, or the lighter shelf with the red toy. Just because you don't like a color doesn't mean you won't have it in your house at all. I don't like coffee brown, but have items with that color in my house. Some are gifts; some remind me of a time or person. Would I do my house in coffee brown? Absolutely not. But I wouldn't rush to donate the item if it was a picture of a favorite place that happened to have coffee-brown buildings in it, or it was a heartfelt gift from a beloved friend or relative. Context is important. Size is as well. If someone gave me a huge floor to ground coffee-colored mural and it looked hideous, I admit a trip to Goodwill might be considered after a few years. But a small item ... not as much.
In the case of the picture in the adult's room, that color had a lot of red-orange to me, rather than lots of pink. That could be my eyeballs, though. I'm having some technical difficulty with them.
I'm very confused about that last want score, though. I respectfully disagree with that. I had flowers up the ying-yang, and while there was only one day of butterflies that year when I was looking for them, they were there. There was a shed with room to work on a bike ... whatever your definition of bike happened to be. The dancing room was narrow, and I could see a small deduction there, but both my Sims were constantly dancing in there ... sometimes with each other. Those two were dancing in the kitchen and in the yard. There was plenty of room for dancing. Plenty of room for visitors, too. Ballet is not the only form of dancing. I loved to dance as a child, but loathed ballet.
There were no routing problems while fulfilling those wants. So what wants were lacking?
I suppose I should be grateful that with the way my life is going on now (I started this post in one city, and finished it hundreds of miles away in another!), I should be thankful I can do these lots at all and not get a 30.

@CatherineTCJD so that explains why I thought it was fine I must’ve got the right spot at some point and then I assumed it always works when it’s diagonal. Do you happen to know if it’s the same with easels? I tested it once I think and it didn’t work, but maybe it’s possible to get the right placement like with a recliner.

@Karen Lorraine
I do have 2 bedrooms. One upstairs for the Sim couple, and one right in front of the..front door, on the ground floor. It is hard to miss...there are 2 cat beds, cat toys, cat scratchers etc..in there. Is it because I used an arch instead of a door that no one saw it ? Or because there is a staircaise in there, going to the second floor?
Whatever it was, it is as you wish anyway. Pets don't need that much privacy.
Editing again, and yes Charmful, it is a fake chemney..unless you saw a fireplace? So I guess my windows are fine where they are.

I asked Jo about the two bedrooms for the Newmans on page 53 and she said they need two bedrooms with beds for human sims, not for pets.

Yes, exactly the two reasons you listed: stairs and archway are what keep it from being a bedroom. I saw it as a common room used to travel through the house and to the second floor.
Also here is the quote from Jo about bedroom for the Newman's from page 53

I guess it does say 2 bedrooms, but it kinda sounds like one is just for pets. That is one of the reasons I chose my Elliotts over the Newmans last round, I just couldn't fit an extra bedroom in there. I don't like building spare bedrooms for the sims anyway, they usually don't have visitors that'd need a bed. Most real houses I know also only have a spare bedroom after the kids moved out, otherwise maybe a couch in the living room or office that can serve as a bed.

I got messed up from the front page description too for the Newman house and was mistaken as well, haha! That's why I ended up with two versions... a one bedroom one, and a two bedroom after it was clarified. Luckily for me there was a big second story balcony that was just begging to be enclosed. That reminds me, I should make the changes to the one bedroom one that I just did to the other!

Out of curiosity, I showed the pink/red-orange picture on my tablet to some people. The verdict is mixed. Some feel it's a deep reddish pink (or a pinkish red); some fully agree it's red -orange. It might be the color resolution on my tablet, though, or I picked a bunch of wonky-eyeballed people. I dunno. (We all are on the mature side!) But it's nice to know it's not entirely my vision situation.

All ya'll - please remember - judging IS subjective. It can't NOT be... None of us judges have degrees from accredited schools on how to judge a sims 2 contest. We each do it a little differently. I'm not a fan of a certain color - another of us doesn't like the 'sun' lamp. That is the nature of a sims contest. We can agree to disagree; but, lets all agree to have FUN K?
