Default New World in the making
Hello all, a total novice when it comes to CAW, I decided to finally make my own world.

We have all heard the song about New York being the concrete jungle, with inspiring lights, but it doesn't match Old York for charm and character. Yep, I'm building York UK!

Not sure I am entirely happy with it, I made a boo-boo with the city centre, its too small, there are many streets missing. Not sure whether to start over or continue. After all it is the Sims, as long as it captures the essence, doesn't need to be exact?

Ill talk you round the screenshots, pardon my ignorance, I'm not sure how to insert photos so they're attached instead.
Photo 1 shows Cliffords Tower, this will also contain the Crown Court and Castle Museum
Photo 2 shows the Millennium Bridge, Rowntree Park, Rowntree Caravan Park, and further in the distance is the Knavesmire.
Photo 3 shows York Station and the walls around it. I do plan to add the NRM, if I can find buyable trains
Photo 4 shows the Wigginton/Haxby area, with Clifton Bridge, and of course the Nestle factory. I think we can now make chocolate can't we?
Photo 5 shows York Centre. It will have the Minster, the Shambles, Bettys (put the new tea set to use), the Mansion house and other attractions
Photo 6 shows the overview. Its large but its surprising how spread out it becomes.
Photo 7 shows York St John and Monkbar. The uni at home mod will come into play here
I think I will continue, once the buildings are started it will look better, its all in the detail. I plan to use the seasonal lot marker to death, as we have loads of different events going on at different times of the year.

Any suggestions or criticism?

The terrain painting looks rushed, and a bit sloppy. I used Ouerback's tutorial to help me http://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=464810 and I found his worlds http://ouerbackersims3stuff.blogspot.com/ , sorry I can't find where the other one is, to learn how to paint terrain better. Also here is SimSample's tutorial http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=430231 and Denethor's http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=443308. Finally this link http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/181739.page will give you a plethora of terrain paints. I'd show you my world but I uninstalled CAW and TS3, heading back to school and I'm a major procrastinator. Finally don't allow your world to go to the very edge. I did that and was told it would cause issues, I can't remember what exactly it was a few years ago.
On the flip side I really liked what you did with the walls, at first I was going to ask where you found a castle then I realized you used walls.

Remember to limit yourself to max 150 lots, ideally 100 lots. You will be building a condensed version of a city (also check out Nilxis's Barcelona), so imagine what parts you want in.

A distant terrain is crucial to making your world look more realistic, aim to have it in place right away.

Hope that helps!
