This user has the following games installed:

World Adventures, Ambitions, Late Night, Generations, Pets, Showtime, Supernatural, Seasons, University Life, Island Paradise, Into the Future
Default Game Keeps Crashing. Is it cause of windows 10?
Okay so my game keep crashing when I try to put mods in it. I've played this game with mods in it before but I think it was on windows 8. I ask because I would like to know experinces that other people have. I've been trying everything to get the game to work with the mods. If I had it my way I want to get the master controller mod and extra traits mod. But I would like to get other mods to. Right now I'm playing on a Lenovo G70 laptop it has windows 10 on it and i'm using origin for my games. Also I know my computer has enough room for it I Have over 600 GBs of memory and 4 gbs of Ram. So Yeah.

Windows 10 alone is also not the problem. I have Windows 10 and haven't had a single problem with the game. TS2, maybe. But not TS3.

I might one day finish my Zanes Hollow project, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Until then, you can see what I'm up to on my Simblr!

I also have Windows 10 and the game runs on my laptop.Could it be your graphics card or the amount of ram? Mine has 16g.My old laptop had 4g and could barely run.

Actally I just looked up on my computer properties and it seems to have 8GBs of Ram on it so I'm still stumped is it the way I extract the packages maybe?

In this case, you could just open/double-click the DeviceConfig.log in a text editor like Notepad, copy the first 40 lines or so (up until the long lists of game options, those aren't needed), and paste them into a reply. It doesn't have to be in any kind of picture format, it's just a text report.

But I would also like to know what kinds mods you have been trying that make your game crash and how. Does it crash at startup, does it matter if you choose a different save (if you are getting that far) or a new game, or does it crash in-game after hours of play (and at what sim time, while your sims are doing what)? From where did you get your Resource.cfg file? Do the sample NoIntro and NoBuildSparkles mods that come with the MTS Framework download work or do those crash the game as well?

You're also missing 4 GB of ram somewhere. Some program or programs are eating up a lot of your ram.

This is also strange. i5-5200U is a typical economic GPU, why is it only rated 2? It turbos at 2.7 gHz.

I have no Idea but what forums do you mean?

The OP can download Intel HD Graphics 5500 Drivers fow Windwos 10 here if needed, and then make sure to check that the Intel HD Graphics 5500 is detected by Windows 10 in Device Manager (right click on "Start" button then go to Device manager from there) after reinstalling the drivers. And then just follow how to make TS3 recognizes your Intel HD Graphics 5500 by replacing one of the Intel Ivy Bridge listed in the GraphicsCards.sgr file. Note: the Intel Ivy Bridge is the latest one for Intel Graphics in the GraphicsCards.sgr if I remember it correctly.

If the 32MB Texture Memory Override still there in the DeviceConfig after reinstalling the drivers and editing the GraphicsCards.sgr file, this is more likely because of the newer Intel Graphics generation under Windows 10 may have more than 1GB VRAM (as is doubled or more from the actual VRAM), so the OP may need to edit the GraphicsRules.sgr as well and set it to 1024 MB, this will eliminate the 32MB Texture Memory Override reported in the DeviceConfig.log

As for the missing 4GB of RAM, I think the OP's laptop is maybe full of bloatware and other unnecessary apps or programs reserved in the RAM, this usually happens with new laptops came with Windows 10 preinstalled, the OP will need to remove some (if not all) of them from Programs and Features menu (right click on "Start" button then go to Programs and Features from here), these unnecessary apps or programs are usually multiple antiviruses and malware trial software and some other advertising from the manufacturer, just use one antivirus as using more than one will take more RAM as reserved, even just using one antivirus is actually already taking big space in RAM and slow down the general performance when the computer was just being started to power up.

The Intel Core i5-5200U only rated 2 even it has 2.7Ghz turbo boost was because it's actually a dual cores with 4 threads processor, it's not the same quad core like the Core i5 for Desktop PC, go here for more details, so it just like the Core i3 but equipped with turbo boost therefore it's classified as an i5 because there's no Core i3 line-up equipped with turbo boost, the pure quad core processor for laptops are the Core i7 line-up.

I don't think in general that this was the one that causing TS3 to crash (even if TS3 doesn't recognized the HD 5500), I suspect it was because of something else either it's from bad CCs or Mods, or maybe because of the OP's Windows 10 are the Creator Update version, anyway in addition to the required drivers make sure the OP also have the DirectX SDK June 2010 and Visual C++ 2010 for general gaming with Intel graphics not just for TS3.

Huh? I think we have to go over what MasterController is (and isn't).

The base MC mod is one file. That is all. If it works for you with the base file alone, then all is well or at least all is well on the mod front. The other "parts" are optional add-on extension modules. They are great to have too, but the MC Progression one is special. It acts as a bridge between the MC base mod and the Story Progression base mod. If BOTH MC and SP base mods are not in place as well, then the MC Progression module will crash the game on startup every time. If you do not have or aren't interested in the StoryProgression (SP) mod, then remove the MC Progression add-on module and forget about if for now as it wouldn't do you any good anyway.

Does it matter what Driver it is? When I clicked on the download link it says it's a mirror so i'm wondering if that will effect my computer.

Yes it does, your Windows 10 version is 64 bit so you need to get 64 bit drivers version which is the win64_154036.4703.exe to download, as for mirror that would be the source location.

Ok then let's check what you have then;

1. Right click Start button and go to System, check if you have 64 bit operating System, take a screenshot and post it here if necessary.
2. Right click Start button and go to Device Manager, go to Display Adapters and open it, check if Intel Graphics HD 5500 is already there, take a screenshot and post it here if necessary.

I think that's it for now..

Yes I have a 64 bit operating system, I have Intel(R) HD Graphics 5500 If you want me to screen shot it your going to have to tell me how to put screen shots on here. But yeah I have both. Also I've been doing some work on my computer and I think I have everything done but not sure. All I know is now I can play the sims 3 with mods but I can't play with the more traits mods it just won't come up on the start screen and here is the DeviceConfig from sims 3.

Sorry to keep interrupting the hardware and driver discussion, but these issues you are having are all mod usage related (thus far).

So the crashes have stopped now?

The more traits mod, if it's this one, is a Tuning Mod. That type of mod does not show up on the pop-up list at the beginning of the game, only Script and Core Mods do. Tuning Mods just do their thing quietly, if they are working, without announcing their presence.
