@gazania - when building in an empty lot, toggle it to Night before putting in the lights; when putting in the lights it will turn the lights on and leave them on when it is turned back to day (Day/Night toggle).
At least that's how I've always done it without a mod. Even closing the game and coming back the lights will still work.
Deleting the lights already placed and putting new ones while in Night mode will work~ Maybe a little tedious.
Unless I'm reading what you want to do wrong. If so, carry on. I'm just slacking from my chores. :sipswine:

Oh, I know the one you mean. It's not actually a photobooth picture, which is four pictures arranged in a black square, but a set of pictures arranged vertically in a white frame, with the couple in the pictures using the photobooth "romantic" poses. Several of us used it in the qualifying round - you can see it on the master bedroom wall in mine.
Rosebine, almost everything that can be done with most in-game editing mods can also be done with the testingcheats on. If you can't get simblender to work, just enter boolprop testingcheatsenabled true in a cheat window in neighborhood view, and I bet whatever you're trying will work, especially if what you're doing is testing a mod. They don't call it "testingcheats" for nothing - we have it to begin with because the programmers needed ways to test functionality under various conditions in development.

Oh okay, we are talking about two different things. I thought you meant an actual photo booth picture which only sims can get by going into a photo booth. That is just a buyable one in deco that looks like a photo both picture, but it has a different frame.
@Mom50409 You need to use the Print Screen button on your key board, far left top.
Or if that doesn't work since it will take a black screen or desktop for some people, then download a screenshot program like Fraps. Fraps has it's own folder on C drive and you use whatever key you want to set it to.

Ah, this is where I tend to be reluctant like you, Voielle. I'm not sure if want all the lights on during the day in my pictures. It just looks ... odd ... to me, though I can see from my now-pfft pictures that they do look pretty dark, and why people advise using the lights. But I'm the type who runs through the house trying to turn the lights off constantly! Blame it on my cheap ... I mean thrifty ... nature there.
Let's face it ... in a real house that doesn't have a lot of windows, it DOES get pretty dark during the day!
it is too bad there isn't a way to turn on just ONE light in build mode on an unoccupied lot and leave it on off-camera ... and being able to see the mod in my test game! I see that there is a Pescado wand for the game? I wonder if that would work better, though that might veer into CC territory if I have to leave the wand on the lot.
Well, I can always try cheats and at least see what the place looks like all lit. Maybe it's not all bad: boolProp allObjectLightsOn true. The lights at night are also a good idea ... thank you, Sweet Mystre.

It depends. If the pictures look dim and judges can't see properly you may get less points. They can only judge by what they can see.
The judges have now handed in all the scores, so expect them to go up in the next day or two.

There is a reason realtors turn all the lights on in a house before they show it.

I finally finish my house for this round and now scores are coming?! Oh man, I'm almost tempted to just turn it in as it is while I still love it, instead of nitpicking it after I get my axe. Haha! I will tell you what, I have finally reached that nirvana with my home where I am beyond happy with it. I mean I LOVE my house. It was tricky though, but I am so pleased, and my confidence is building.
Joining this was the best decision I have made in a long time. Even with all the hand-wringing and self-doubt, I finally feel secure enough to show others my "best" work (so far). Thank you, joandsarah77, so much for this contest.

Aww thanks Goldenbtrfly. It's only 6.50 pm over here in Oz, so many of you may wake up to scores because I am getting close to being done.

I took a break from building as I feel I was getting stale. I played Julianne Rhodes, the daughter of my hippy couple. She moved out of her parents' psychedelic encampment and bought a much more conventional house (Maxis "Bonny Bungalow" slightly modified). She started in her chosen medical career and has got promoted to paramedic. She has also picked up a townie boyfriend and persuaded him to stay the night. I think I've benefitted from the break and shall return to building a bit less jaded. There are, after all, still more than 11 days to go, so I really don't have to rush. My house is now up to about §30.2K, but there's still a lot to do with the downstairs. So the house may end up a bit sparsely furnished. In future I may follow the example of others and allow bigger areas of veranda/decking, rather than building right to the foundation edges. (I think I understand the rule now, Jo. Don't add or subtract anything from the given foundation. You may make a separate one somewhere else on the lot, but choose one that Maxis call a "Deck" rather than the one on a brick base called "Foundation". The "Decks" are cheaper than the "Foundations" anyway!)
Whatever I do in other pictures, I think I need all the lights on in the floor-plan pictures so you can see everything. I use Moo's Lights on/off mod.

A new home for the Rhodes! - Round 2
EDIT: I redid the house. I guess this will be my final version of the lot Making something useful from this template was quite... hard for some reason. But! here's my recycle-ish looking lot for the Rhodes
As you can see, most part of the lot is basically wood, though I've added some metal wallpaper just to give it some 'recycle-ish' feeling. I would have added more plants though which was impossible with a 35k budget. However, ti was a fun lot to create! It didn't really turn into something I had in mind, but I guess, since the budget's quite difficult to work with in my case, looks good enough!

Application/Round 1 Judging Scores and Comments
Tips from Judge 1
Lighting
I noticed that some of the lots were very dark. Please turn your lights on as it makes judging so much easier if we can see what we’re looking at . You might find this mod by Mootilda helpful. All it does is enable you to turn the lights on without having to have a sim on the lot or changing from day to night every time you place a light http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=492998
Walls
When you’re taking your images please have the walls up! I want to be able to see what wallpaper you’ve used and I can’t if they’re down! A little tip: When taking pictures in a confined space delete the walls behind you. When you’ve finished taking the image just press undo!
Images
Try not to distort the images when resizing them.
Try and remember to remove the grid lines when taking your images – they’ll look much better press tab then R
With the top down images please make sure you zoom in and fill the screen so that we don’t have to squint!
Please make sure you are directly overhead for the topdown images.
The information in this tutorial is very useful and taught me how to take screenshots http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=492998

Comments: This is so cute! I like the added tower. The colour scheme works really well with the cottage style furniture. There does seem to be rather a lot of empty space in the middle. My other pet hate is the placing of the TV in the middle of the room rather than against a wall – just think of all those little fingers poking in the back of it! Good landscaping!

Comments: My favorite aspect of this lot is the landscaping, that big beautiful willow and the dirt terrain detail you underlaid with the blue flower bushes is lovely!
The way the interior is laid out doesn't seem to jive and leaves a lot of empty space, I feel you could have forgone the extra house plants to spring for a cheap dresser in the master bedroom or made the bathroom less elongated to allow more room for the nursery.
I enjoyed the little desk nook. Overall the interior is functional and meets the requirements but doesn't seem as inspired as the exterior. I think a lot of it has to do with the candle lighting on the outside and inside – those are some of the more expensive lights, if I remember correctly and you could have probably used cheaper ones to allow yourself more funds for sprucing up the interior.

Comments: The outside is charming! I can never make a “tower” that looks right – but, this is very nicely done. The stucco, stone, tin roof, and blue flowers make for a very interesting curb appeal. Great job on that! The inside, however, just seems “blah” to me. Maybe I need more color/texture contrast, IDK. Maybe there's too much open space? From the outside style, I expected more of a cozy cottage inside I think.

Comments Lovely first entry. There is some lovely landscaping going on. The house has quite a few empty spaces which either need filling up with deco/useful items or make the house a little smaller. A toy or a potty in the nursery would’ve been a nice touch. The choice of décor is quite bland.

Comments: I like the kitchen the best, the color palette for the counters with the walls that have tiny tile design detail look good and charming.
I love the stepping stones around the the bench in the shade at the back of the home. The uniform yellow/beige theme of the interior walls becomes a bit blah, maybe the nursery could have perked up with some peachy color. To allude back to the kitchen palette as not to be totally random.
Also you are missing blinds on every window, you could have sprung for a cheaper painting in the living room or cheaper lamps to afford blinds.

Comments: I took away a decorating point because I don't think they would've used such fussy wallpaper in the living room. They're furniture is basic bare-bones beginner furniture – so why would they fork over all that money on wainscoting? Similarly, their bedroom… is it country/cottage (wallpaper) or minimalist malm (furniture)? I don't mind mixing styles, but this is just to incongruous for the given situation IMHO. I love all the flowers outside

Comments: This is a good first attempt at a contest entry, well done. You don’t say what EPs you have installed but if you can I would try to lower the roof pitch as at the moment it’s too ‘pointy’. Also try and join up the individual roof pieces a little more so that it looks as though it ‘flows’ better. The high chair won’t be able to be used placed at the table like that without a mod

Comments: I like the way the nursery is decorated, the carpet teal matches the teal accents in the liner at the top of the wallpaper and then the yellow of the crib and changing table does the same.
The potty is precariously placed. The fridge is blocking a window. So be more mindful when you furnish the interior. You could probably have used smaller windows ones for the kitchen and bathroom instead of the big long ones.
I adore the front porch sitting area and how you used the fencing nestled with flower boxes. I think you could have used some stone or brick foundation base covering to break up the ground to roof monotony of white paneling. I like the triangular flower beds lining the walk way up to the porch however holy flowerbeds!! You could have trimmed some of that to afford curtains or blinds which I don't see any on any windows. Or a sink for the half-bathroom, because it's going to get annoying having them to waste time walking to the kitchen or other bathroom to wash their hands, that is, if they do. I don't know how clean the Walters are.

Comments: Please take your pictures when your lot is completely finished. Some of your pictures show gardens, some don't. Some show furniture, some don't. Very confusing! Just because a foundation is provided, doesn't mean it all has to be house – you have a lot of unused space inside that might've been better used as another porch. I would've put the front door where it is visible from the front of the house (and, why is the potty-chair just inside the front door?) Did they really need to spend money on 2 bathrooms? (One of which, is missing a sink, btw.) You could've saved a lot of money on the windows too – the cheap double-hung ones would've fit the outer siding better anyway (IMHO) The bedrooms (at least) need curtains. As a general rule – furniture/fridges should NOT be placed in front of windows. Spend some time standing in the middle of the room – with the walls up & roof on – before placing the furniture. Thank you for including the hi-chair

I like the added extras in the nursery but you haven’t put a changing table in there. Comments: While you are consistent with the furniture style, I would like you think more about color matching and color schemes because there's nothing that really pulls the open room together between teal counter tops, the pink fridge, red striped rug, etc.
I enjoy the fireplace you added turned 45 degrees however the toaster oven is not playable at a 45 degree angle and sims will stomp about that when they go cook a toaster pastry. My suggestion would be to have removed the country style end table, installed another counter and move the toaster oven there for full playability.
The back deck lacks the railing seen in the front porch which seems inconsistent and many windows lack blinds or curtains. I think you could have allocated more money for these types of materials by doing away with the back garden (the front flowerbeds look great though!) and the extra hanging plant by the TV.
The nursery is also missing a changing table. I do like how the wallpaper has bunnies and then you have the bear in the stuffed bunny costume in the nursery which ties it together.

Comments: Here is a nice basic country home with front and back porches and room for a garden. Nice! I am a fan of pink fridges and turquoise counter-tops (...reminds me of the first house we lived in) The stone tiles on the porches wouldn't have been my money-conscious choice though… and the back porch needs a railing – think of the safety of the baby! I took off a point from someone else because they didn't have a changing table – so, you lost one there too (even though you said you didn't need one.) I took away another point for the bathroom being so far away from the bedrooms.

My only critique is that I think it's overkill to have three different outside doors to the back porch, especially the nursery where the toddler can crawl directly outside. You probably could have removed those and used the extra simoleons for some more interior decorating material.

Comments: Your curb appeal is quite cute! I can smell the frangipani from here! However… I don't like your choice of front door. I know, you were limited for a double door, but maybe a single door and the 1T plate glass window would've better suited? I'm also having several issues inside: the bathroom is too far from the bedrooms, I don't think a baby's room should have outside access, and the kitchen seems to have a lot of wasted space. Maybe if the kitchen and dining area were separated I'd like it better? I appreciate the eclectic mix of low-end furniture, and the yellow color-scheme throughout. However, their furniture choices make me wonder why they sprung for the more hi-end wainscotted wallpaper? I really love the blue roof with yellow siding – super cute! :D

Comments: I think overall you did a good job, especially the living room area and the big windows that view the front yard. I like the use of space but I see room for some improvement too. For example, you are missing a changing table which I would consider a requirement for a nursery, I also do not see a kitchen sink which would create a bathroom blockage for those needing to wash dishes.
I like the colors and the plant decor at the front window is very cute. I would suggest removing ivy as it is more suited to crawl up a solid texture than glass like what we see in your pics, you could maybe have traded it for a changing table as you were right on the budget limit. Possibly could have downgraded the crib to the cheaper version to pinch on simoleons as well.

The entry hall could've been a tile wider – I can imagine some foot-stomping happening at the front door. I like the non-square bathroom – but, it should be placed closer to the bedrooms. The bedrooms need curtains too. I'm not seeing a changing table? For safety purposes, stairs off of the back porch would also have been nice. The roof looks like it may have some extra valleys in it. I like the mid-century style you have built onto the foundation and think the layout flows very well. The kitchen and nursery are especially well decorated for the budget limit and you have put curtains on your windows which makes the space feel more lived-in.

Comments: Cute curb appeal ...then we lift the roof off and discover all that orange – yikes! I hope they can replace that old carpeting soon – babies like to play on the floor; I'd hate for baby to have to crawl around on that! It's unfortunate, too, that the bathroom is so far away from the bedrooms – but I understand it's due to the era of the build. Maybe someday they'll be able to remodel. Nice use of the Bay Window in front. And, I like the attention to detail in the ceilings – but, I prolly wouldn't have used that blue floral tile in the living room. Comments: Gaz Regando! This home looks classy with that bay window. I love the placement of the dining table right in front of it. You did a great job decorating, managing to fill the space, stay in budget and maintain curtains/blinds. Nice use of 45 degree angle tv.
The nursery is adorable and has the extra oomph to be inspiring with the chair and dresser with the teddy bear. The only critique I do have is the similar use of porch flooring that flood-fills the living open space indoors. I think the main room would have benefited from some kind of tile in kitchen space to break up that monotony.
Also, I can see a possible routing issue ensuing in the nursery if someone is trying to exit while the other is trying to enter because there is no space to step to resolve the blockage from the inside.
The yard looks very well.

Comments: A classic suburban charmer! I'm sure your Walter's will love it! The yellow brick is warm and inviting; though, I'd like to see some vertical siding in the roof peak over the front door – but, that's just my preference Looks like they fertilized the yard the day they moved in – the neighbors should be happy about that. I would also prefer to see a different flooring used on the porches. There is no way the same floor would look as nice outdoors as it does indoors – especially if the house has some age on it. They're furniture is sparse – but that certainly fits with the situation. Thank you for putting the bathroom and bedrooms together.

Comments: This is a gorgeous cottage with some lovely recessed window boxes to the front aspect. I like the addition of the bonus room with the karaoke machine but I wonder whether the money spent there would’ve been best spent on some lighting as the living area is quite dark. Although you have the requirements in the nursery they don’t match up very well.

Comments: I am immediately charmed by this house exterior and its aesthetics, the slanted roofing over the front porch, and especially the indented front window space with the flower box fencing. However, the sims will never be able to take care of those flowerbeds on the foundation so they will either have to replace them or let them grow wild – not knocking any points off for playability since Jo mentioned garden stuff for deco purposes can be nonfunctional.
Another note of playability concern is the trash in front of the counter – that counter won't be usable, granted they have another space but I'd have suggested you put another counter in to wrap that around and then move the trash bin in front of the stone pillar segment. It also seems there is not an interior door to that back room with the guitar so sims will annoyingly have to exit the house through the master bedroom and re-enter the room – this will be odd for any house guests. For it's residents, it maybe not an issue in the warm seasons but they'll have to do some double clothes flipping going to and from it.
Wooden floors seem a cold choice for flooring in a nursery, or if they must be used, at least a rug would help tie the space together. I see you were pretty tight on funds so my suggestions may not even be possible but I think you could have sold the ladybug house considering there is no functional gardening plots in order to get back some funds for either the counter or a rug for the nursery.

Comments: I have no problem at all with your roof. It adds interest to the house and full-fills it's purpose – to keep weather out! I like your siding and stone combination – and the fact that you brought some stonework inside. Though, I would've used a different half-wall – the blue accent paint on it doesn't quite fit the woodsy-cabin furniture. IMHO

Comments: It's very impressive you were able to do a second floor considering the budget limitation, and you still managed to have some nice exterior landscaping and interior-deco too.
It's kind of weird there is ivy growing on the kitchen wall, but the pans look like they are in the right place. The bathroom seems a little too big and empty.
The Walters will also be in for some stair stepping as there is no bathroom on the second floor for morning/night routines and they will have to carry new baby back and forth to feed them. The nursery and living room area are very cute.

Comments: I love the outside 'look' of your property. The roof style is quite unique too – and it works! Great job building a 2-story with-in budget I wish you'd used a different flooring inside instead of the slanted 'deck' floor. I didn't see a foundation shot from you either. I took off a point for the bathroom not being near to the bedrooms. There is plenty of room to have a bathroom upstairs – and the downstairs one is too huge IMHO. There is also a lot of unused space. Everywhere. Just because the foundation is provided, doesn't mean it all has to be house! Bedroom curtains would've been nice. And, I just don't 'get' the ivy crawling up the inside kitchen wall – a hanging plant would've been preferable – or that little wall-planter. The outside 'look' is just about perfect though, I think

Comments: I immediately love this atypical build you have applied to the foundation, it's a very creative layout. While the bit of the exterior that is painted solid blue throws me off considering the only other place that's blue is the roof, I can appreciate the risk.
I'm not a fan of the tikki counters with that stove though not sure how that could improve aesthetically. Those counters seem more appropriate for the tikki wet bar attachments than kitchen counters.
You've done an excellent job with the exterior however some of the money could have probably been spared to furnish the inside a bit more as it's kind of bare bones in there.

Comments: A good first entry Try to join up your roof by dragging the roof parts over the main roof (have a play with the tools and see what you can do). The gabled roof would look much better if it joined up to the hipped roof more. I would suggest that you use the roof cheats or M&G tool to reduce the pitch as well. I like the flower borders and the water feature but I’m not sure what the tiled sun is for in the front. Don’t forget to use terrain paint under the shrubs and trees for added realism.

I love how you decorated the master bedroom and kitchen with the black/orange theme. I do also want to commend you for providing curtains and blinds to your windows, it's often overlooked.
Another suggestion I would have is to use a terrain paint to make a path to the little tiled landscaping area in the corner with the fountain. Dirt terrain paint is usually 1 simoleon per every second you drag it along the ground.

Comments: Your interior layout and spacing is superb! You have utilized every space to it's fullest potential and I love it! I appreciate the closet space, the shower rooms, and the half wall breaking up the living room from the kitchen open space. Also you used your funds very well for decorating, it doesn't seem empty and instead very cozy and interior-decor wise, it's all pulled together really well.
As for pointers of how it could be better 1. Flip your master bathtub – it's not playable when the faucet is being blocked by the toilet. 2. That dressing screen is kind of random in the living room, no one can really get dressed behind it anyway. My suggestion is to sell it and invest in some blinds at least for kitchen/bathroom.
I also appreciate the wedding banner considering the family are two newlyweds. Personally I think the banner looks tacky outside of a wedding venue but it's a good second-level detail you've put thought into.

The exterior is pretty nice as well, and I love how it pops with red on the foundation bricks and then with the flowerbeds underneath the tree.
I think the interior layout could be better and there are some spaces less inspired for decorating– the kitchen seems way too large in the overhead view, the top portion of the living room is also seemingly bare, and the nursery is about as minimal as you can get. You had almost 1,700 simoleons left and could have at least sprung for a house plant or some other kind of wall hangings or toys for the nursery to spruce those spaces up.

Love the sunflowers against the red accents on the house Make sure that your roof pieces are at the same angle (most of them, anyway) then the seams will meld together better. The outside landscaping is simple but effective. The nursery is very well done. I like the columns you have on the front landing.
My only critique is that I think there are some better suited furnishing layout you could have done with what you had such as – the lamp sticking out in the middle of the living room could have moved to the corner where the chair and coffee table were and the mirror in the bedroom could have been turned to the back wall to allow the two dressers against the back wall as well. To me, it would have looked a bit even more pulled together.

Comments: Your roof is very steep and interesting; I do like that you tried matching up the angles from the second floor portion to match the sides of the second floor roof to look like one continuous roof. I don’t see the point of the false chimney though since you don’t have a fireplace in the house and think you could have nixed it to spare the simoleons. I think you used your space very well and commend you for putting bathroom on the upper floor next to the bedroom.
I feel like the blue kitchen tile is out of place and isn’t as harmonious as it could be. If you had blue counters or counter tops, a blue curtain, or any other reference to blue in the kitchen it wouldn’t seem so random because blue and orange can work together as complementary colors. I feel you could have used your remaining simoleons to fence the back decking area to match your front porch to remain consistent.

Comments: Thank you for putting curtains in the bedrooms; and the bathroom next to the bedroom (master, at least) – I think new parents would prefer to have the nursery nearer, and on the same floor as, the master bedroom. I see what you were trying to do with the fake chimney – using brick all the way up would suit it better, I think. Be sure to match the pitch of your roof when doing complex roofs like this one. The back porch needs a railing – think of the safety of the baby! Your pictures seem squished – be sure to maintain the aspect ratio when you're cropping them next time. I like your texture combination on the outside – the brick, siding, and leaded glass combo. Very nice

Comments: I think this is a decent entry for a beginner, but part of this contest is also to build skill and I do have a lot of critique.
First off I will say what I think works in your entry:
1 – The nursery looks well for what it should be and the requirements.
2 – I think it's neat you put 'the great divide' floor/fencing to line your walkway.
3 – I love that your kitchen tile colors relate to the counter tops for harmonious sense of interior decorating.
Things to consider:
1 – I feel you use too many patterned wall papers and try to match the furniture which comes off as gaudy and over-stimulating to the eyes. Perhaps next time choose a solid upholstery within the same color palette or keep the flowered bedspreads and couches but choose a solid wall paper in the same color palette.
2 – You are missing an overhead shot of the floor plan which can be done with the birds-eye button, this gives judges an accurate view of spacing rather than a view with the walls down and the camera raised at an angel.
3 – Sims cannot use the changing table at a 45 degree angle
4 – You have no blinds or curtains on any of your home windows, and you have approx 2,139 simoleons left to spend before reaching budget limit so really squeeze every cent you can on the details once you have everything built. A lot of people forget curtains, but they can be the difference of making a house look like a home.

Comments: Wow! For being so far under budget, you sure crammed a LOT of stuff in there. I wish you'd used all the pictures (you only gave us 10) and included in them a top-down floor plan shot – with the walls UP. I can't tell where the windows are in relation to the furniture. The bedrooms need curtains – that much I can tell. It looks like maybe your nursery adjoins the master? I can't really tell without the walls being up in the picture – but, that is a nice touch if it is. I'm also missing a foundation only picture. The baby's not born yet – right? - so I will allow for the decorative changing table. (It is unusable at an angle though, fyi) The roof would fit together better if it was all the same pitch. Maybe the front bump-out section could be a hipped roof, if you wanted the lower pitch for an aesthetic reason? Help this judge out next time with more pictures – K? I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work

Phae: Wow I wasn’t expecting to see an apartment. Thinking outside the box. It feels very much city apartment. Not too flash but not too shabby either, perfect for a young couple just starting out. Is that a little hopscotch grid out the front? Clever.
SimsRocka778 Cute house, I like the sunroom. That bathroom is pretty, I like how that basin recolour looks with that toilet –if a toilet can be described as ‘pretty’ I’ll have to keep that combination in mind. Can your desk be used? Outside is tidy, just remember to squirt some terrain paint under your plants, makes them look more realistic.
TheFlyingRaccoon Lots of plants, I like that. You managed to get in quite a few decorative items too. Not a fan of the TV in the middle of the room but I understand why you placed it there. The recliner out the back won’t be useable since it’s one of those silly Maxis items that can’t be used on an angle. I also like the inside brick and feature walls.
Essa: Your building and decorating look fine. I like your roof. Nice use of space, I am enjoying seeing how many different floor plans you are all coming up with. You could have recoloured your planter box to make it appear not part of the foundation.
whoward69 An interesting house, good going on getting a second story in for the price. It seems like a suitable house for an alien household. While the front roofing looks fine I would suggest redoing the back with just a couple of pieces. With a starter you also have to weigh up the size of the house verses how much you can afford to buy for it, things like telescopes and robot benches being luxuries as you realized. When taking a floor plan pictures you need to get in close so that your building fills the shot rather than the surrounds as I can only barely make out what is what in your shots.
kanzen Such a cute little house and nicely decorated. Smart thinking on having a large deck and a smaller house. The crib on an angle is unusable and I’m not sure about the plants on the floor, maybe some taller edging would have made that look more like a planter. But I love that you have lots of plants and how you made the planter box around the deck.
AndrewGloria Very Veronavillesque. Interesting floor plan and plenty of flowers. The roof could do with tweaking although the chimney does help. Here is a cheat that you can use individualRoofSlopeAngel ## Control + Alt click on the roof you want to change. Where I have that hash# use a number http://www.simechoes.org/simechoes2.../nightlife.html for more information. With the kitchen I would enclose it then use a double arch. It looks more finished and prevents sims in other rooms panicking over a fire- not that your sims would know what a fire is. I would suggest thinking about a colour scheme when you decorate and go for a more cohesive style in the main areas. There are a lot patterns and colours going on in that house. Bedrooms are more the places to go wild.
HugeLunatic I love the outside colours. Someone very cheerful must live there. Very daring as is the inside with the large spots but it all works so well. Hope you are going to upload this little gem? I also love the two click foundation. The only slight down fall is that with no edging on the deck the BBQ looks like it could be pushed off rather easily.
NatteryakToad Nice cottage. Good job on getting plenty of decorating into your budget as well as skilling items. My only suggestion would be to use the roof slope tool on the main area of roof and lower it some.
MystAngel What a gorgeous house and so different to anything else I have seen. I really like the outside colour, the roof and the architecture. If you build too large you will run out of money when building a starter. I think you did really well with how much decorating you got done with the limited cash. Being a play along it doesn’t matter, but that square of foundation attached to the house would have broken the no attached foundation rules.

I have no desire to nitpick scores, Jo, as this is already much higher than I expected; but that's a Seasons floor I used on the kitchen/living room ceiling. I'm positive of that because I've got a CC-free Seasons AGS in which I've used it several times. I didn't show the bathroom (because I hate taking bathroom pictures; they're boring and constricted) but I think it has the same one. I don't think the whitewashed boards in the bedroom are CC, but I'll check. They don't have a star but I suppose they could be Castaway extractions that slipped by me. If so that deprives me of the 5 points anyway (and for the Rhodeses, too, unless I change it - that's a useful realistic floor/ceiling and it'll be a challenge if I have to go forward without it!), and that's my own fault for not generating the second Sims 2 folder. I don't want to have to load the game to build or take a picture, quit, change out folders, and load again to play, so I chose what problem to have there and can live with the consequences.
On the whole I am surprised and delighted by my scores. Don't be afraid to open your spoiler, people!
ETA: Oh, I was thinking of the ceilings and you meant the actual floors. No, that came with, um, what did that come with? A stuff pack, I think? I'll look that up and get back to you. It's called Blue Beehive and there's two slight variations in the catalog.

Two other moderators confirm its CC and I don't have it in my game. We were wondering if you had a default sneak in. A stories extraction without a star is also a possibility.

@joandsarah77 Just to be completely sure (and I'm sorry to bring up and beat the dead horse), but are extracted items OK? For example, the suitcases they take on vacation, the mop they use to clean puddles or even a loaf of bread from the cutting board? Or are they considered CC?
I know you approved the buyable craftable items. Thank you for that!

I don't see any lights in the kitchen; you had a bit of simoleons left so you could have installed an overhead light. |
In the overhead shot, there is one right by the lower right chair.

Okay, my bad. I thought all I had was CS stuff. Great, now I get to second-guess everything! Unless I scrap my BG AGS, since I'm actively using the Seasons and NL ones...Maybe I should. I can always remake it later.

I came to upload my next entry and find scores!!!! Thank you, Judges, I am quite happy with my solid points for my solid build
The house for the Ellitots turned out fantastic until I found that I forgot the computer. So it required some rebuilding and budget cuts, but it is ready now.
The Walters have twins. Trust me, those toddlers are going to use that back door when it snows or when there are butterflies to chase outside. They also have 2 fruit trees and have just met their new neighbours, the Elliots. I have added a subhood to my main hood and named it Jo's village.
@Peni - what about just making a new game folder? I always do that when I am not allowed to use cc because it is just convenient.

Don't want to open the game, take one or two pictures or build, quit the game, and then load again to play. Which I'd also have to do with AGS, of course...only AGS is familiar.
Query: Not to shoot myself in the foot, but shouldn't using the CC get me a 0 for the whole round, since no CC was a requirement for the round?

Very good comments from all the judges!
Some things I noticed: Judge 2 mentioned gummilutt's 45o toaster oven not being useable. Numenor made a mod that fixed the routing problem with corner counters. Are mod fixes not allowed to be taken into playability consideration because of the no CC rule? I would think that would also mean that all the slot enabling work Lord Darcy did for dressers and the like would be out if that were the case? Judge 1 mentioned needing the diagonal tv mod in gazania's comments, while this time Judge 2 approved of diagonal object usage so we have a bit of a consistency issue. Also, Judge 1 said they took off points from Voeille for inaccessible roof garden flowers when the rules state that garden plants are exempt from this.
Take away I got for our contestants from reading all the comments: Use your entire budget, don't forget curtains, terrain paint is free before moving sims in, and roof pitches should match or be super sure they aren't supposed to.

It’s interesting to know plants are an exception from the accessibility rule (which is great!), especially given that I’ve had the Perfect Plants mod for years and I’m used to building gardens that are completely impossible to take care of in vanilla game. But anyway I’m happy with my score, it’s interesting to see that each judge noticed something different about my house (However I’m still going to use the tiki counters, I like them for some reason )
And it looks like I need to take a new foundation picture for my entry for the second round so the whole lot is visible. I think I’ll also slightly move a plant so it doesn’t go through the wall (a bit of a leaf is visible in the kitchen picture, and I don’t think saying that it’s an unusual wall decoration is a good excuse of not fixing it ).
Oh and Peni shouldn’t get 0 points, after all it’s not CC used on purpose but mistaking it with an already in-game thing.
