Hello, there is a new freetime patch available onthe sims 2 website. This is after the old one was taken down due to many problems. Just wondering if anyone else has downloaded this new one? I have freetime sitting on my desk for installation. I hope that this new patch is better since I will be out of summer school in 4 weeks and will be able to play sims (with freetime hopefully) as much as I like. Please let me know if you have downloaded this.
Thanks,
Happy simming,
Bernz

I don't know why you've been waiting all this time for a decent patch! I have Freetime installed, unpatched, and it works fine on my computer. You don't have to patch your game for it to work properly :D

And, this is a different patch. The first one takes the game engine to version 1.13.0.148; this new one takes it to version 1.13.0.155. So it looks like everyone should need this second patch. Please, please backup your game before installing it though- just to be safe.

Reasons to install this: It fixes some nasty glitches which cause problems with secondary aspiration bugs, and also some issues with the body temperature when using hobby items. Full list on TheSims2.com, or here:

I will choose a path that's clear- I will choose free will

I noticed that it is a different one, too. It finally fixes being able to call the NPCs.

Wow, I'm amazed. Since installing this patch I can actually see the TV/computer video things. It's great! Least they've fixed something.

I just read through the list of bugs and am amazed to see how many fixes this patch has for problems that have been in the game for more years than I can recall. Hm. I hope it actually works! LOL

I held my breath during installation because I have used the sewing machine for curtains and clothes, but everything went smoothly. (I do hate how the patch resets my families, but that's probably unavoidable.)

I'll go first: I'm vexed about the phone directory/NPCs issue. I haven't checked to see if the hobby NPCs are showing up now (as the fix list promises), but I have verified that the _delivery_ NPCs are not, so I've returned Sim Wardrobe's NPC Phonebook Fix to my hacks folder. It would be unfortunate if my Sims couldn't call their BFFs because of a faulty patch.

Hrmm, reading through that neverending list of crap, I think I can wholeheartedly say "DO NOT WANT". I'll stick with Pescado's fixes until the newest L&P. None of the issues that were supposedly fixed really concerned me, and of the very few that did, MATY seems to hav covered them (with less achy-breaky coding).

Oh it's something to do with ATI graphics cards. I have a 2600 or something (sorry, not too good with the technical side of computers), so the game wouldn't let me see the TV. But the patch fixed this for me, it was on the list.

The patch worked for me. Before, freetime crashed many times, and just last night I was playing but it did not crash.

After I installed latest Sims 2 Freetime Patch, then play 2 times, now I get error 1000 again.

I got
Please insert the original CD/DVD.
and
Unable to authenticate original disc within time limit.

that I got them fixed on May 20th with new exe file from secuROM support --I got those error after install that removed FT patch--.

By the way, I just asked them for new exe file again and waiting for it now.

I read on the BBS for a long while last night and a ton of people are having major issues because this patch also has an update for SecuROM.

I think I'll be holding off on it for a while, anyway. While I'm reasonably sure I don't have software that would cause SecuROM any problems, I don't think I want to deal with the hassle of having to re-install my entire game and expansions if something goes awry.

(I had no idea this SecuROM thing even existed when I bought BV and FreeTime. Otherwise, I may have never bought them.)

Was it just that one particular card? Because I have an ATI card, not that one though

With all due respect Misty, you have to take stuff you read on that BBS with a grain of salt.

yeah it looks like they're both HD cards which would explain it. I don't think they're on the supported list, but at least the patch fixes it for people that have them
