I guess it's also because there are so few families, and the ones that are there are very underdeveloped, so it's easy to make your own Sims blend in. Whereas in Pleasantview or Veronaville, I always feel like my own families don't fit in.

I agree with maeve.2.0, the families are not connected to others and have little or no relationships with other families. I basically deleted all the maxis families and put in my own. My only problem with it is how small it is, very frustrating!!

He's a rather fun guy- I usually set his house in black and white with silver accents and make it look artistic and studio like. I love the beach lots too- always gives me something fun to do beside junk up homes with the same stuff. Veronaville and Desterata are my top 2 I like to play.

I've spend too much time and effort on my own custom hood and sub-hoods to bother with them. The first thing I do when getting a new expansion pack that gives a new hood; Go to the new hood, evict everyone, look at what houses/community lots I like and place them in the houses bin, delete hood. I'd prefer playing my own sims over someone else's creation
