That's hilarious!

I think I am going to wait to install the patch till a bit later. I've just done a complete reinstall after some glitches and it seems to be working all ok. I'm not sure I want to mess with the delicate balance that is Sims 2 on my computer right now!

I just found out about this new patch. I was looking for some poiners what to do, if the game won't stop crashing. The only thing that works is, if I save the game every few minutes, which is annoying, mostly because I so often forget to do so and lose quite some progress and time... grrrr

so I was wondering, Starwyn, has it stopped crashing? Tnx for your or anyone else's reply

I have all the EP's and I'd never had to patch my game before but this time I had no choice. I was worried because I've heard that some patches were even more buggy then the EP itself.
Well I bit the bullet and installed the patch and I'm happy to say everything is finally working the way it's suppose to. (knock on wood) LOL

... Anybuddy know a cure for Alien withdrawl?

Well, my game works all right, so I'll wait. Most of the things that bothered me have been patched by Lord Darcy and similar already.

The one issue I am having since i have installed nightlife i haven't seen addressed yet. The big clear glass shop windows no longer being recolourable now having a bright red border ONLY. I had made a few shopps and some moddern houses, both of which are either black, white or blue. new and improved by maxis with bright red windows. -.-

Utterly un-Maxian problem. You have the old CEP. You need the new CEP.

They are. What happened was that the large shop windows that had previously been included with OFB were also included with AL. I know this because my brother has AL but not OFB on his computer, and he has the large shop windows, and they work fine.

Hopefully, the new CEP will fix this whole windows mess. xD

After installing the patch my game insulted me telling that I haven't installed NL. I did, and it was in the programs list. I removed it and installed NL again, now everything seems to work all right.

They still haven't fixed the problem of creating custom secret vacation lots and having them in university lot bin instead of the vacation lot bins....

That's right; as pycho$immer mentioned, the Ergo Windows were included with AL as well as OFB. The AL windows seem to partially overwrite the BV windows (or is it the other way around?) and break the Maxis recolours, but there is a fix in the CEP Extras for this. Make sure you install the Extras when you install the CEP to get this fix. The AL patch doesn't address this problem at all, seemingly- I still needed the CEP Extra fix after the patch to get the recolours.

A question about this patch: does it fix the forever changing AI pic of the sims? If that makes sense. You know, the picture of the sim currently selected. For me, it keeps changing every so often for no apparant reason, as if my sims are constant changing their appearance.

No, it doesn't seem to change the way the portraits regenerate.

In case anyone is interested, I extracted the new Apartment life building so that those who have the patch can still use it. It is the 'H Building':

And as you can see it appears in the Neighbourhood 'Misc' section next to the other buildings.
This is only for people who have Apartment Life and who have applied the Patch!

The portrait fixture isn't a bug it's a new feature. The portrait changes in the console versions so I guess they tried to add this feature from that.It doesn't bother me.

Looks like some data corruption in your hood files- restore your backup. You did backup before patching, right?

Since installing the patch, the 'Triumvirate Designs' belts and cornices (decorative building accessories) aren't displaying textures properly. Is anybody else experiencing this, or is it down to something else I've downloaded?

That seems to be a CEP issue- Numenor is going to fix that. If you check out the CEP 9 thread you'll see that Havelock has posted a fix for it, which Numenor will be building in to the CEP soon.

will this patch fix the simmies to not serve food in the communal area or if they have no more table/counter space in their unit, they wont go out (in my case, two stories up to the roof) to just put down an empty plate? Even if you cancel, they'll still go (only to put down something) and its annoying.

I have same problem, but with new installation, even before I added old neighborhoods back to game.

Are the speech bubbles not displaying the character names correctly, or something else? I would have thought the character names missing would be neighbourhood character file corruption, but I could be wrong. It is possible that something in your game files could be incorrect, causing the game to reference files wrongly. In that case your best bet would be to reinstall and repatch the EP; assuming that this corruption occurred after the EP was patched. Check out this article though, for troubleshooting to confirm that this is indeed not just a userdata issue:

The patch wont even install for me it says I need to reinstall AP again? This has never once happend to me when trying to patch any game and I have all EP's and have patched them all when needed so I'll just stick to MATY fixes.

Y2kRobie, when the patch fails you can usually see what file it fails on. All you need to do is copy that file from the Compressed.zip file on your AL Disc to the correct location on your hard drive, and patch again. The game has a nasty way of writing to your objects files, which can change their details so that the patch fails. Check out the MTS2 Help forum- I describe how to do this in detail several times!
