Fine with me -- I think that would be cool to see. But I also can see EA refraining from having the NPC Sims automatically do this for fear of backlash; it's one thing for the player to introduce the same-sex concept into the game, but they are probably leery of having that aspect automatically appear in everyone's games, since there will undoubtedly be others who would not want to see it. |

There is a video of two gay male sims in bed called gay love.I would post it but I'm afraid I might get banned. It's a pirated copy of the sims 3.Anyway I would rather sims not hook up with the same sex automously.I would rather make my own gay couples. 1)The game needs hetrosexual sims to make babies for the next generation of sims. |

Well, if gay Sims didnt exist in Sims 3, I'd have to shut my site down. |

I hope there is a way to fix this. I'd be so upset if I had a Sim that I wanted to be gay and they ended up with the opposite sex. See, it won't matter for straight Sims because as long as they are straight, they WILL end up with the opposite sex. It's only the gay Sims I'm worried about. As for bisexuality, looks like that's pretty much tossed out the window unless you make them bi. |

Quite frankly, I'm happy with the way it was in the Sims 2. After my romance aspirationed lesbian sim was with a girl, the people who walked past the house due to the local legend award were girls. I've had lesbian, gay, and straight sims and enjoy playing them all. I kinda like that I can make them undecided at first and as I play them they can move one way of another or stay sorta bi-ish. I can kinda see the problem there though, Frankie. I don't know what to do about that. I guess I never really care which way my Sims end up so it doesn't bother me. |

Well I will create the gay couple I saw in the video. Both were very muscular athletic men and had big muscles on their chest. The poster said he married them in cas.The video by the way shows that the makeout in bed is now 30 seconds instead of 5.I would post it here but I'm afraid I might get banned. |

It appears that in the random town sims marriage dosen't even matter in the generating of children. In the same family there will be kids that only show one parent as the mother or father. Single sims will also spontaneously generate children. Many of the "familys" are random collections of people spawned based on the number of beds in the home. Someone posted how she created a sim and after placing in a home she made a copy of the town and played the same sim as both straight and gay. It seems that as long as the sim reaches the right interaction level with any other sim you get the relevant "go steady/engaged/married/etc". The availability of interactions as far as I can tell is based on how the other sim reacts to your sim's interactions ie: Sim thinks your sim is being boring/friendly/inappropriate/filrty/etc rather than any indication of gender. |

Fennec, I normally don't care what my Sims' sexuality are, but there are just those times when you want to tell a specific story and it can go all go wrong. On the other hand, I'm glad that marriage is marriage and not union. ![]() Sharkloverplayer, that's great! I didn't know it was longer this time. I, too, will make two muscle men together. |

Just looking down a few of these comments, i'm surprised with what people get away with saying quite bluntly. Maybe in England it's more of a taboo subject than it is worldwide but it's interesting and also saddening to see what people think on the subject. |

I don't even understand why they need to put so-called "straight" Sims into a game that could be played by children! Everyone knows that heterosexuality is just a temporarily phase experienced by a vocal minority of the population, and Maxis is going to confuse our kids by showing them something other than happy, gay couples. EA should be making Adam and Steve, not Adam and Eve! <And for those of you who didn't realize I was just kidding, you do now>

*laffs* I thought you were serious for a second!! ![]() I'm not concerned if Sims3 has gay or not... I mean, they *arent* going to exclude it, It's just not possible. And the marriage thing, that's pretty cool, I'd have my gay lovers be in "unions" but I always thought as sort of a temporary thing (as in not as commiting) as the "traditional" mariage thing. |

All my Sims are gay. They have been gay since Sims 1. If EAxis ever does decide to do away with gay Sims, then I will no longer buy any of their games. |

hey everyone... I think I came a little late, I only read one full page of posts. So yea, on Sims 3 they are bisexual like in the previous games. Apparently, there are gay relationships among the townies... But you know, one of the pre-made sims called Gobias Koffi... He has a girlfriend, but his biography hints at a possible homosexuality. I thought that was nice, it's a slow but certain improvement from EA '=) I also always thought it would be great fun for the Sims to have a sexual orientation... Have somebody from the wrong gender flirting with them! '=D Another thing I would love (but that would be way too controversial...) is if the Sims reacted to homosexuality like we do in real life... In the game, they're not surprised by any sexual behaviour. It would be funny if they were shocked to see their teenage daughter kissing a girl, for instance ;-) Oh, and on Sims 3 they don't have turn ons and turn offs '=/ |

Wau, I never heard of all these different mods, like Pescado's Romance Mod, Two Jeff's Same Sex Mods or even that SimPE had option in the sexual preference direction. Awesome! This I will certainly have to try now : D One of the things I've never really understood is the whole marriage contra union deal. There is no religion in the Sims, so why make a difference? Who is to say that marriage in the Sims has anything to do with our world's Christianity? Pft. And if it has to "add up", so that marriage is some Sim-religion and the union thing is a government thing, please make it so that my straight sims can enter into a "regular" union too. I've made all of my sims with a strict "no-religion" vision in mind, so none of them wants to enter a "holy union". They just want to make the commitment, of 'legally' binding themselves to each other (: /end rant ;D Now, the whole slider vs. option to choose your preference. I'm really not sure. I just really don't like it when a sim I intented for one gender, - that be straight and gay - ends up going in another direction. I unfortunately don't have the perfect solution at hand. But I like all your suggestions - creative (: |

Erm...what? I was just commenting on how he seemed to have a lot facts. Was a little suspicious as to where he got said facts, seeing as the hep new trend is not waiting until the release date. And I don't even go to MATY, so how am I supposed to know what they're talking about? |

Never, ever, ever have any of my Sims in TS2 entered into a "holy" union when they've married because there's nothing to indicate that it is holy at all. It is simply a psuedo-legal union called marriage. In real life a person can get married in any of several ways: before a priest type person, or just whoever has the legal authority to perform a legal marriage, thereby legally bound. The fact is, in TS, no one presides at all--the Sims simply commit themselves to the relationship, which happens to be called marriage. |

Okay, WOW, 9 pages, and I haven't followed this thread from the beginning... didn't have anything to say 'til just now. To be honest with you, I had very few gay/lesbian Sims in my TS2 game. Not because I dislike homosexuals... it had more to do with the fact that, well, I'm heterosexual, and that's just the kind of characters I could more identify with. Having said that, if, for example, a female townie Sim was forming too close a friendship with a male Sim I wanted a Sim *I* created to end up with, I'd turn that female into a lesbian so that she would no longer be attracted to him. Problem solved! Now, as far as TS3 goes, I'd really like to see Sims (townies) have their own sexual preferences just like in real life. To me it makes it more realistic. So even though I'm heterosexual, I'd like to see my Sims make up their own mind |

Yes, Koffi is definitely gay from that description. It sounds like he is a closet-case in fact, and I saw a screen shot of his Simbology which could make him stereotypically gay and his house is so charming and was obviously designed by someone with great taste... you can just tell, seriously. I know it's a stereotype but let's face it, it works and it was probably the only way that EA can hint that he is gay without directly saying it. I can't wait to play him and give him a nice guy to be with him! ![]() I also saw a screen shot of Claire Ursine who is a young adult female and she is definitely either lesbian or bisexual because she had the "romantic interest" symbol with an elder female, and I say bisexual because she used to date one of the Frio brothers and is pregnant with his child (trust me, I ask way too many questions since I have yet to buy the game and I want to know all that I can out of impatience). Though, that person claimed that they didn't make her that way, so if this is true, that means that EA really made this game more gay-friendly. I mean, why would Claire autonomously go after a female after she even had a child from the Frio brother? If she was with him first, then that set her sexuality to be straight because Sims don't seem to be autonomously bisexual as far as I know (I could be wrong, though). Unless there is a hidden sexuality option that we don't know about? Because remember, the sexuality points in Sims 2 were technically hidden. Jeez, why couldn't we have at least a "check Sim out" interaction to set the sexuality if we can't have a way to choose it? Unless in future EP's we will be getting such a thing like how in Sims 2 we didn't even get an attraction system until NL? |

I hope they do keep the whole idea of peoples gender preference being a fluid process tbh. I also hope that there is some cheat like the tombstone of life and detah that cna help my gay sims have children together or else an inventive mod that allows it too. But that does not just default to the alien birthing animation for men.... grrr. |

Testing cheats is...limited at best. It appears there is no pregnant bodyshape for males, although males can somehow become pregnant. Although I hate to say it, I think the male pregancies are currently a bug. (only beacause of the missing mesh) Relationship mechanics among townie sims appear to be almost randomat times. The AI reaches a point where it's time for Sim A to be in a relationship, does an enie-menie-minie-moe on avalible sims and PRESTO insta-couple. Then the random spawnage of children with no apparent relationship to other members of the family, repeat as generations pass. So, the gay pairs aren't based on attraction, rather by simple random chance. |

yea, same here. a lot of my sims are gay (like me, haha); it's actually a little boring and tiresome sometimes, I feel like I'm creating the same characters every time! But I know it will be different on TS3, because of the traits thing. Quote:

I actually kind of liked it in TS2 when a Sim I had arranged a hetero marriage for in my head developed an intense relationship with a same-sex sim in college. Who was I to stand in the way of destiny? Actually, this is making me miss TS2 already, the romantic interactions in TS3 aren't nearly as interesting to watch unfold...so I've heard. |
