Of course, if I had a hot tub (and weren't currently pregnant) I'd have to go test that one out myself, just out of curiosity.

Anyway, how's that for realism in the Sims? I was surprised they didn't let pregnant Sims get into the hot tub, since I'd never tried to put one of them in there myself.

It is fine as long as you limit yourself. Birth defects usually only happen after being exposed to a high temp over a long period of time like several hours. Usually 20-30 minutes is recommended.

I think the mother (or a father giving birth) should be rushed to the hospital in an ambulance when their water breaks and they should be given an option (like when you want to go to a community lot, or any place off the lot) to take two (or whatever number) of people on that lot with you to the hospital. When they come back a few Sim hours later there would be that birth Sim music and the new baby(s) and the mother and person would have much higher realtionship points with the infants.

I think taking another person, especally a child, is a nice little bonus if there's an increase in the realtionship because children and toddlers (unlike teens, adults and elders) can't really interact with the infants expect for that "talk to the baby" interaction which I rarely use, because I have too much going on with trying to keep everyone's energy in the green and handling the baby when they're crying.

I agree, except that a child shouldnt come. Because normally kids arent even allowed in the room when the mom is like you know, getting the kid out. that would be traumatizing for anyone in real life under the age of young adult.

Ha ha that sounds just like my sister. When we all lived together she would walk around the house and start mocking the way the sims wave their arms in there air asking for a better environment. I think it was something like "Furnishna". If that was the word it makes complete sense.

I think that they should just be transported to the hospital. I am a mother and I really didnt enjoy watching my daughter come out of me. It only slightly grossed me out. But its still an exciting thing. We will just have to WAIT (ha ha) and see what EAxis trys to come up with.

really, I just like the idea of risky woohoo - but realisitic births? nah, I'm good with the cute birth animations as it is, anything more detailed and I'd have all my sims act as though they were "fixed" lol

I'm not easily grossed out and childbirth doesn't gross me out at all (just thought I'd add a differing viewpoint here about the "grossness" of childbirth ). That said though, there will never be anything like a real birth in the sims because the game is purposely made cartoony. I think the best ideas I've read on here are the ones that have the birth take place off-screen...whether taken to the hospital and then later returned home or the cute idea of the midwife and the screen (with no animations behind it...just a screen). XD

I think it would be hilarious to see it all from the father's point of view.. So "Honey, my water broke", guy looks at her, faints, screen goes black, they wake him up and present him with his new baby. :lol

I don't think risky woohoo will be built into the game. Although the Sims 3 world will run on it's own, that EAxis still gives us the option to create a baby. Like they can woohoo on their own but only when we control them will they have a baby.

I was wondering since in the neighborhood of the sims 3 there is a hospital, do you think our pregnant sims will be taken there when going into labor.

Here's the link to the photo, its the 5th one down:

Hahaha, I thought they could do something like the animation for ts2 birth and then they cut to the husband who rubs his eyes, then the wife yells at him for being lazy and he runs over to help her. Then the screen goes black, comes back in a second or two and they are standing there stroking their new baby's (or babies') head. Lol there goes my imagination

In the sims 3, I'm hoping the couple interactions will look much better. And I'm also hoping that when Pregnant, They will actually tell us how long until the baby is until being delivered. Or when we're suppose to be expecting.

That would be hilarious! Albeit, in a morbid sort of way.

"Congratulations! You've got Whackles! Now you're gonna die! Ha ha ha ha ha!!!!"

I should ask Maxis to include Whackles in TS3. Sims get it, and then they hallucinate that they're being stalked by an evil clown - then they die! Ha ha ha ha ha!

Romance Sims will have to think twice!

Have you ever walked into a room & forgot why you went in there? What if God is playing The Sims & he just cancelled your action.

Feeling the baby kick would be a great feature.

Personally I'd settle for the pregnant Sim's SO to actually NOTICE they're pregnant.

Pregnant Sim calls SO to living room, a quick convo, SO leaves living room on way to car with un-cancellable action of driving to store for (insert random craving food here).

SO gets food/magazine/turn on TV/what have you for pregnant Sim while the pregnant Sim is sitting in a chair/couch/bed or whatever.

SO runs over to stop pregnant Sim from doing a random hard labor task, and SO takes over the task. Yeah I know pregnancy doesn't disable you, but isn't it nice knowing someone cares for you that much?

Contractions, causing SO to /panic/reach for the "emergency labor bag"/coach pregnant Sim with breathing exercises.

This was posted a few days ago (link from snootysims). I've pasted the pregnancy parts. For a game thats meant to be out in February a lot doesnt seem to be done yet :S

http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/...s-pg-2-a-2.html

"Another question was to do with pregnancy and how it worked as it hasn't really been elaborated on in similar sessions such as today's. Ben said that they actually haven't decided on the duration of a Sim's pregnancy yet. Either that or he was lying so that we have something to look forward to discovering ourselves later on.

I then followed up with the question, "When the Sims actually give birth, do they still give birth in the same way (ie, scream and then a baby falls out of the air), or is there some sort of hospital involved." He said that hospitals are involved in the birth of babies, which was quite exciting news."

I think it should be longer then one day for each trimester... maybe at least 3 days per trimester.

No, definitely not, not unless they make a sim's whole life last considerably longer too. Compared to it and how long each life stage lasts, 3 days for a pregancy is plenty of time. Personally, I'd become terribly bored with longer pregnancies. :P

Sims will live longer because of the young adult being added as the default age group. Lol It would be boring if they make pregnant sims stay home. I think more then 3 days could work if their needs wouldn't go so crazy like in the Sims 2, but since needs are less important I think it could work.

I read an interview from a website and the question was brought up about babies and how they'll be delivered. Ben Bell said that it won't be like in the Sims 2, but there will be hospitals in the town. I have high hopes for this game, honestly. I haven't read one thing that's shattered them, either. I'd like to judge the game after I check it out for myself though. :P

Ummm I would like it if there was a chance that the pregnant sim could have a miscarriage without you having to download any hacks,it would make it a more realistic and pretty interesting if you know what I mean. Like your pregnant sim would start screaming and would begin to have pains and would be rushed to the hospital and your other sim would be called on the phone saying that the pregnant sim had a miscarriage.
