I think Michael Cretu deliberately made Enigma hard to classify. Thus, the name. I've seen Enigma CDs all over the record store: The New Age section, the instrumental section, the dance section, and once or twice in the classical section, even.I think some of their music is relaxing, yes, in that it's sometimes simple, meditative, and repetitive. But some of it I find to be energizing in that it's complex rhythmically and/or has interesting chord progression and lyrics. They caught my attention when they incorporated Gregorian chant into the music on their first album, since I have this odd fondness for chant, and they just kind of kept my attention from there...although I do need to look up their newer albums. The last one I have is "The Screen Behind the Mirror." |

I don't stick to a certain genre of music. I listen to anything that sounds good to me. But, if I had to choose what type of music I like best, I'd choose rock. My favorite bands are: Radiohead, Nirvana, Placebo, The Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails, The Vines and Hole. Lately, I have been really into rap music, though. I mainly listen to Texas rappers, such as: DJ Screw, Pimp C and Lil' KeKe. |

You do any of the early stuff? Like Kurtis Blow, Big Daddy Kane, Run DMC, The Sugar Hill Gang? That's where I'm most likely to turn when I'm in a rap mood. |

The lyrics to 'I Kissed A Girl' basically represents everything that is wrong with the media today, with a horny male producer penning the words for a "hot, young thing" to sing in skimpy clothing. Note how the lyrics are only playfully, flirtatiously bi-curious so as to tantalize but not alienate the public and everything is so faux-innocent and ugh. But I LOVE Katy Perry's voice. It's so unique, husky and broken, and perfect to sing that song. So I love it! |

I'm mainly a Country person though I do listen to the odd Pop, Rock, Rap, or R&B song. Johnny Reid, Chuck Wicks, George Canyon, Jesse Farrell, Miranda Lambert, Maroon 5, Rascal Flatts, Dwight Yoakam, Johnny Cash, Lil Wayne, Los Lonely Boys, Billy Gilman, Gord Bamford, Kellie Pickler and others. |

Run DMC!! That takes me back! I loved them & the Beastie Boys, but I blame them for sending me on a pointless foray into nonsense music, like Vanilla Ice, Easy E, Young MC, etc. I can blame it all on the fact that I was 12 at the time. But, oh, what a time. And thank you, Jizabel, for mentioning Maroon 5. They're another one I won't miss live. I heart Adam Levine! |

Ok, this is my pretty list what I listen, too: Fort Minor, Stateless, The White Stripes, U2, Maroon 5, Lily Allen, Green Day, Nine Inch Nails, Offspring, Gorillaz, Vanilla Ice, Tori Amos, Emilie Autumn, Reveille, Loreena McKennitt... and loads more. One or two songs by each, except Fort Minor. I love listening single songs, as I can see... |

I love classic rock. AC/DC is my favorite, and I like The Doors, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Neil Young, Lynard Skynard, Queen, The Who and The Rolling Stones too. Led Zeppelin is fantastic, and makes up at least 1/4 of my iPod playlist. :P I listen to some newer rock too, like Green Day, Saliva, Alice in Chains, The Black Crowes, Breaking Benjamin and Rage Against The Machine. Neurosonic, Disturbed, Drowning Pool, Linkin Park and Hinder, too. And Flogging Molly! I LOVE Flogging Molly. Depending on the mood I'm in, I'll listen to some "lighter" music too, like Elton John, Thin Lizzy, Billy Joel, Garbage or Gnarls Barkley. I’ve even listened to some Static-X (thank you, Grady Sizemore.) If I'm in the mood for some non-English music, I love Rammstein and Gackt. |

I'm like that too. I listen to pretty much everything except rap and metal. From cheesy pop songs to r'n'b. But my favourite artists are Ayumi Hamasaki, Lifehouse and Fightstar. I used to listen to a lot of trance when I was younger though, ATB was my kind of thing lol. |

Not to mention the lyrics only perpetuate the stereotype of homosexuals/bisexuals being sexually promiscuous. I like her voice too, though. Quote:
Indie is a pretty broad genre. You hate A LOT of music, apparently. pretty much every genre of music is represented in the indie envelope. there's indie rock, indie rap, indie pop, indie country, indie folk... i could go on! you could also argue that indie means independent, as in not represented by a major music label. what's to hate about that? |

I like pop and rock and metal too. Sometimes I listen to classic songs too when I'm feeling depressed or need to concentrate. I don't really care though, I listen to mostly everything depending on my mood :D. |

I think I love you. A classic rock fan :D! I never meet them in real life... today it seems that a lot of people like that emo and rap trash (no offense to anyone), but it's nice to see someone who knows what REAL rock is. | |

Whatever you guys think, my favorite band is AFI. Davey Havok is beautiful. Otherwise, some of the stuff I listen to a lot is Muse, Oasis, Brand New, Hot Hot Heat, The Hives, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Ramones, Sex Pistols, Jack's Mannequin, The Strokes, The Blood Brothers, The Used, Third Eye Blind, and Smashing Pumpkins. |

I guess I like a wide range of things. But I really can't stand 99 percent of what is on the radio, though. Whether it's rock, rap or country...it just doesn't sit well with me. I go through phases so one week I'll be listening to all dancey electronic music and the next week I will listen to all acoustic stuff. Some bands I'm interested in at the moment: Crystal Castles, Girl Talk, Lykke Li, M83, Kate Havnevik, MGMT, Yelle Some of my all time faves: The Knife, The Unicorns, Modest Mouse, Tegan and Sara, Interpol, Tilly and the Wall, Blonde Redhead... I could go on but I will stop in an effort to spare you all.

Oh Modest Mouse! Don't you love The View?! I adore it's chorus so much. I discovered the band through watching The O.C., it had such a great collection of songs just like Grey's. Dashboard is also a cool song. |

Yes! I love everything Modest Mouse does. I put in an old mixed cd into my car's cd player the other day and Dashboard came on. I was singing and dancing so obnoxiously. Other drivers probably thought I was nuts. |

My favourite band of all time is Incubus. Their music is like poetry! My favourite song is Skullflower by The Sound Of Animals Fighting. I reckon it's really spiritual and beautiful, and it's definetely way under-rated (if that's a word!) Umm my other favourite bands are System Of A Down, Nine Inch Nails, The Legion of Doom, Circa Survive, AFI, A Perfect Circle, Escape The Fate, Hollywood Undead, Interpol, City Sleeps, Dredg, and Wolfmother. I love music! I tend to listen to almost anything. However I hate disney-ish sugary crap like Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers. I also don't like Fall Out Boy and Linkin Park - Linkin Park say they have a unique sound, but all of their songs sound exactly the same and people are obsessed with them. I also don't like much rap - well, the stuff about raping women and shooting people :\ |
