There are many errors associated with the new patch. The causes (i.e., user configuration, cc, or the patch itself) have not been identified for all problems. However, EA acknowledges one problem on their website and offers a workaround. Read this BEFORE installing the patch or the EP: http://easims.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/...=&p_faqid=23834

I had this error when I went to install WA. I ended up having to unistall and reinstall my Sims 3 entirely. I removed all the CC and mods, deletes caches, I tried everything and it still didn't work. After the reinstall, it was smooth sailing.

I wanted to put my two cents in here - I had to do the exact same thing. Got the game last night and spent about three hours trying to get it to work. First off, had the region code error and had to use regedit to fix it; then WA asked to update and wouldn't. Got fed up with it, so tried again today. After trying to get the patch through my launcher, and failing, I decided to uninstall my Sims 3 and remove my Mods folder. After reinstalling the game, my launcher still wouldn't recognise the patch. So I had to download the patch from another website, and then install WA. Worked perfectly, and still is at the moment. I sent a test Sim on vacation for three days to see if my lots will turn blue - they didn't. So, after much toll and trials I'm a happy camper, for now

The game prompts you to update to 1.7 before even installing WA, and then after it updates to 2, but this may be different seeing as the 2 patch came out a day later than when I installed.

:A while back before the WA expansion pack came out, I seen that stupid patch for just the Sims 3. It claimed that some computers were going to slow for the Sims 3. I installed it not knowing what it really does (for slow computers or whatever) and bam..no more like BAM! I STARTED UP THE GAME AND IT WOULDN'T LOAD. So I uninstalled the piece of junk and low and behold the game was fine. It had nothing to do with my cc at all. Well, here comes the WA expansion pack and It wouldn't let me even attempt to install the game unless I "upgraded" as it stated. So I did and now it won't load..again. That is on one of my computers. The other computer with that patch and cc just won't show up traits nor can my sims socialize. I removed cc and somewhere my downloads still have cc cause when my sim took a shower the pixels were still missing. I'm very unimpressed with EA. I had spoke to a rep there and they claimed that my computer won't load cause of the graphics card. I went to Best Buy to scope out information and a geek tol me my graphics was over the requirements.

A card can surpass the requirements and still be unsupported.

Not to mentiont he best buy geek squad is a group of people who only barely understand computers which is just enough to appear to be a genius to people willing to pay a 250 dollar fee to have their PS3 set up, so they're not exactly the best source of information.

There's some pretty damning stories about them on The Consumerist.

I installed to patch early this morning. It was the latest one that fixed the save bug. As I have not purchased WA yet, I don;t know if that is the problem, but all my sims still had there inventories and I did not have any problems with my game. I totally removed my mods folder and deleted the 2 bigger cache file. I left the cc in that was installed through the launcher. Like I said, no problems at all.

Well, good news. I installed the game, and patch with no problems! Although, my game is VERY slow, it has been since i installed the base game. I have all of the graphics and what not turned down, and it looks TERRIBLE, and still runs very slow. Any tips on that??

Dharmie, I'm hearing lots of anecdotal evidence that cc (I'm talking objects and hair more than xml tuning mods) is a huge drag on the game after the latest EP/patch. However, it sounds like your machine may simply be underpowered for the game. If you would like to verify that, the requirements to run the game as well as instructions for identifying your computer's specs can be found here: Game Help:TS3 Technical and Graphics Issueswiki

If the machine is underpowered and you already have your settings turned all the way down, the only tip is to upgrade the computer. You can get help with that in the Computer & Software Help forum.

I actually spent several hours "testing" my custom content in the game and removing ANYTHING that made the game hang even for 1 minute. My game literally went from being completely unplayable (due to EXTREME slowness even with all options dumbed down) to super fast again as if I had no content. I currently have over 2 GIGABYTES of custom content in my game and it's fast as ever.

Here's what I did:

1. I did a fresh install of Sims 3 and World Adventures & patched (temporarily removing my mods folder, my saved sims, my library, my dccache from the game).

2. Create a 'test routine' for when you start the game. Mine was: time how long till the first green bar clears, then time how long till the second green bar clears (this is the most important one!! Delays here mean delays & choppiness in playing your gameplay later!!), then I would enter a house - once loaded (should be instant too), I would start scrolling side to side quickly to see if I had lag issues at all. Choppy performance here is another indicator of potential problem files. All of your object loading should be instantaneous. (I used to think it depended on how much custom content you had, so when it started taking time for things to load, I thought it was because of how much custom content I had added - trust me, it's not. It is directly related to your game getting hung up on specific files in your master file list.) Then I would go into CAS - ALL of your thumbnails in here should load instantly as well as you click each button (blouse, pants, hair, etc) - with tons of custom hairstyles or not. Delays are indicative of a problem file in the content you are currently testing.

3. I would put only 1 or 2 folders of custom content back in at a time and then load the game - for example, "Peggy Hair" and "Rose Hair". If your game takes more than ONE minute to load that second green bar (after the neighborhood select screen), there is a problem with one of your files!! This is the most important loading indicator in the game - this particular green bar. It doesn't matter if your folder contains 500 megabytes or 5 megabytes. Anything more than 1 minute, your game is hanging up on something. I went through testing a few folders at the time. Surprisingly, I found even though I have a zillion Peggy hairstyles - they do not lag my game or load time at ALL. I found that I had lag issues created by New Sea hairstyles (not all but some) and Parsimonious footwear/accessories. I also found New Sea hair does not take kindly to compression. I kissed the problem files goodbye and what a difference in game speed! I also found I had a few Sims 2 files (mostly hair) mixed in also - you can identify them in your folders because they will have a mesh AND colors. They also will cause your game to hang on loading. Sims 3 files generally come in 1-3 files increments representing different age groups/gender.

4. The process listed in Steps 2 & 3 are what I did for anything I did NOT add to my game via the installer.

5. Next, I removed ALL other files that were hanging around in my Mods folder - these were mostly numbered files that I didn't know where half of them had come from. None were in sub-folders that I had created. Some had been Simpack 3 files containing multiple files (like object sets) that I had extracted manually. Some were excess I had picked up after downloading Sims from the Exchange. Anyway, after it was all gone, I got worried I would lose so many of my custom furniture sets. Well guess what? When I put my Dccache folder back into my game, not only is ALL of my stuff there but my game speed is still acting as if I have NO CUSTOM CONTENT at all installed? So I didn't lose ANY custom objects but I did not keep any of the files in my game. Can you believe it?! I couldn't either, but it's true. I don't even have my settings turned down anymore either! They're all on high and game is running beautifully.

I'm really sad to hear CC has trouble getting along with an updated TS3... Does that mean every bit of CC around needs to be remade in order to to work harmoniously with an update? Or what? Here's hoping it can be fixed another way.

I do not have WA, but have patched my game to 1.7. I removed all cc and only have "no mosaic" in my mods folder. I have one question.

Is anyone noticing anything weird about ghosts on lots? Michael Bachelor was married to my original sim and his grave is on the families lot. He is not playable, but he never goes back to his grave. He is roaming the lot 24 hours a day. I even have a screen shot of him using the bathroom during the day. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
