EDIT: Can't wait to see your pics and progress though.

You can if you have Twallan's Woohooer mod. I actually think Awesomemod allows that too. And the highest generation the base game does is 4 but with Awesomemod or Master Controller I think you can make them as high as you want.

Really cool idea! I told my friend who is a Sims nut and coincidentally really into Native Americans haha! I think I'll do this as soon as I finish my Family Man Challenge. :3

Does anyone know of a world I can download with no roads or anything? CAW is just too much for my laptop. Also where can I find tribal furniture? I would like it to be realistic as possible. lol

Thanks!

Hey all,

I love this challenge and have been hunting for items and clothes to make it more authentic. Here's what I found! Enjoy!

Claeric made a small, flat world with no roads and only one residential lot in it. It's not necessarily ideal because you would have to add lots for fishing holes, etc. and it has no spawners. But he has it at fuzzylogicdishwasher if you want it. It's his CAS world. (The original idea for it was to have a world that loads quickly so you can make a sim in CAS. Then there is a lot to put them in for an in-game picture.)

I am Ghost. My husband (who made the account because I was too shy) is sidneydoj. I post, he downloads, and I wanted to keep my post count.

I love this challenge, I am doing my own kind of version of it. (I can never seem to follow challenge rules... :S ) I love making making it as "real" as possible (ie: no white fridges for me, or 4 burner stoves..whaat?!)
Hardest part is making my own markets with or without rabbit holes - I wish there was a grocery store cash register - ... my most current little project is making a butcher type market theme -so far I've fenced in some deer, created my bloody butcher shop keeper to man the till, and looking for other "farm animals" like pigs or something. With the cant make food without buying ingredients first mod, it only makes sense that in order to make meat-ingredient meals my sim would need to walk over to the local island butcher...amiright? (ps. my bf thinks I'm crazy! lol)

-I've considered attempting to dexter bear mod on deer - but I have no idea how or if it would even work.. and its probably way more complicated - so whatevs!

Hoping to post pics soon!

Oh! and child can garden is so awesome for this challenge

I don't recommend downloading Dexter the Bear mod so it can kill the animals, without asking the creator if it can be done first. Also I'm not sure if its updated for the latest patch.

That's awesome! Pets works so well with this challenge. Especially being able to ride a horse!

Dont ask how I got the skins because my brother downloaded a Avatar person called a N'azi or something on this website and came with rainbow skins!
I may make a N'azi tribe!!
THAT WOULD BE SO COOL!

A N'azi is a German. some of my new tribes are the green skinned Tipani, the dark brown skinned Kaytana, the red skinned Lotokayna, the blue skinned Na'vi and the light blue skinned Eywa.

Let us know how this challenge is with the new seasons expansion (if you have it) I expect it to be somewhat difficult. I plan on starting my own again soon with Seasons... but haven't figured out how to handle rain/snow fishing/crops. Keep us updated!

For plants, I was thinking of making a green house; make walls and roof but all with glass windows to create a green house effect?

With fish Im not too sure :S

I am just making my familys house and introducing new tribes later otherwise I will soon get bored of making familys!

Also Ephy, I am trying to rebuild your houses ^^ they look so good! :D

Aww really? You think so? I really suck at making any buildings! lol, I don't know how to upload??? I can post more pics if that helps? But I really have no exp building!

I also wanted to have like an indoor gardening center.. and I understand with seasons it's hard to grow plants with winter... I so cant play a challenge without realism.. so I've been trying to find an alternative to growing plants (ie. in my mind how can tribal people make glass? ) Its just my thoughts.. no offense intended at all to your idea! But these are some reasons why I've been holding back on doing this challenge again (which is really one of my fav challenges)

If you are interested here is another look/idea on what kind of realistic challenge ideas I prefer.. I even tried to make one... but again, much like buildings,... I don't do well lol!

if you have ideas? I'd love to hear them!

Just extend summer so you have more time to harvest your plants then attempt to survive on that during the winter, then shorten your summer back to normal after the first sim year.

More pictures would be a good help! I neither know how to upload :P

and Oh yes I see your point! Hmmm, well maybe a gardening centre but for the whole island would be a great idea! Im looking for and ideal Island at the moment but cant seem to find one,

One not too small but big enough to expand up to 10 generations

Oops! I completely forgot to take more pics! How are your houses looking? Do you still need pics as a guide or have you finished your buildings? If so I'd love to see! If you still need pics lemme know and I will load up my old games and take more pics.

I managed to load up one of my older games, but I had to replace alot of the items because I didn't have the same mods I use to ( the sink and counters are totally wrong )and some of the stuff I didn't bother to change the theme pattern or colour..... anyways here are some pics of my attempt at tribal homes...

There is suppose to be a lit fire under this and the colour /pattern isn't the greatest.. imo

I just think this last pic is sooo cute! I had to add it, teehee

Great stories everyone! I think this is the best sims 3 challenge ever. I've tried it multiple times but I can't seem to find the look I am after... For the beginners out there, I have a few tips:
1- have all the tribe houses similar to start, then branch of in different directions.
2- Create customs for each tribe like the animal print they wear.
3- While you create a community, use what expansion pack you have ad put them to good use. e.g. pets could have a horse on every lot and a around town, several of those horse poles (can't remember the name...) so you can tie up the horse.
4- GARDENS!!! I love using this. Remember, technology and cars haven't been invented so no mindless video games for your sims.
5- Have relationships between the tribes. This will effect what happens in your tribe like who can marry each other and who can trade with one another. (One tribe could focus on fish and another could be plants. Fish could be fertilizer and plants could be bait. It all goes in a circle)
6- Early on in the game, use fire pits for your stove.
7- have tattoos symbolize where you came from.
8- Seasons is great with this! Swimming in ponds and the ocean... rain, tanning, snow... it all adds in new realism to the game. I may create a sheet with reactions to all of the weather preventing my sims from doing anything else. This also gives me an excuse for making covered areas for my pets!
9- Add in new things for the population. I count one for every occupied house. So, for the population of 20, I would add in my festival grounds (for me, it is all the same throughout. I haven't added in my seasonal marker to my grounds so far.)
10- Late night Clubs are good if you dont to bother with doing the clothes for the mixologist. OR- you could just have the regular juice bars I guess. It is upto you.
11- Add in social classes like the roles in the houses. E.G.- women teach skills but males get the food.
12- make 'sets'. Click on this link- http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/b...dittownlots.php and scroll down to rabbit holes!
13- Can't remember if this was said but only cook if you have the food. So if you try to cook Autumn Salad but it shows up with the simoleon sign and the amount for the ingredients, don't cook it. OR- you could just eat the plant on it's own.
14- If yo have pets, one of the houses will become the pet adoption center. You cannot be that house so just breifly turn on testingcheatsenabled true and kill the animals. It won't be a pet adoption center the next day I believe. If anyone knows a way that I can stop this with out turning on cheats or using any mods, please let me know!
Note: These are just things I tried. They work fine for me. I am going to be starting a new game so I can talk about what is happening. I can't post pictures, I am sorry... I'll post more tips when I think of them.

Haha. The whole taxi thing, I don't get. I can get them to hop on the horse and ride places on their backs if that helps. I have a thread where i post some tips on that challenge since I've played it with so many approaches before. I go over trading and stuff. I may do one on creating customs next.

Great pictures! I love this challenge so much. If it wasn't for the insane amount of set up involved I'd probably play this all the time!

I find the best way to avoid any cars and taxi's is to look for a world without any roads. That way they have to run or ride everywhere and it makes it look so much better in my opinion (well at least for my tribes because they haven't built roads yet)

I love all the little houses! They are so cute and look great! : )

For those of us that can't download or make worlds, that isn't an option. I would play this excessively but I miss the little things about the sims lives. I love meeting new sims and with the little amount of sims when you start of, it is word. Oh and my pet adoption center isn't deleting... HELP! I need to play one of my tribes!
