I'm not sure that here is the right place for this but here is my idea:

The greatest things are usually the one that combine the talents of many individuals. We have seen for the sims 2 some great projects born thanks to some wonderful creators that worked together to create a common theme and the result was always awesome.

I'm not the most famous builder here (far from it ) but I'd really like to team up with other creators to create a common project: a new world. Since building is my forte the best thing would be to have a person who could create the map and another one who would like to write the story and create the characters.

So, if someone is interested to work with me, that would be really awesome. If you want to have an idea of how I build, you can check my profile of course. Well, I don't see what to add for now so if you have any question, just ask!

Cheers,

I'd love to be a part of this! Of course, I said the same thing in other threads involving world/hood creation and even started one of my own (Buffy Thread), but I can't seem to commit to anything. Ask members of the Sims 3 Buffy group, they'll tell you how good I am at procrastinating...LOL

I currently don't have the latest patch but as far as I can tell, people can use lots made by me so if you need help with building I'd certainly love to lend a hand. The drawback is that I can't load lots (or worlds) created by people with patches that are more up-to-date than mine, so it's a one way street.

I can, however, come up with storylines and character ideas.

CharmingFirewaller, I saw your Buffy project. It's a great project and I'm personally glad it's still on the run so I hope your being in my project will not be too much for you. Otherwise, welcome aboard A story-writer will be much needed, indeed. That plays a great role into the personnalisation of the neighbourhood. It's not only a pretty place it's a living place with background.
About the building, we'll see what exactly about the needs when we will be able to start the project. But that's noted, thanks for your proposal (is that word only for wedding? I'm not sure ). Two is always better than one.

SimGirlTasia232, I'm so glad you like that idea too I'll need all the help I can get. So if you think you can dedicate some time for creating sims that's really appreciated. I'll probably need some testing too but we could see that later.

What we really need is also someone who knows the create a world tool who could make us an awesome map or more depending on how much he/she wants to be involved in the project.

Well, I'm having serious problems with my Rawr Atoll project and have been looking for something interesting to do while I resolve those. Making a map would be fun, if I'm into the concept you guys are going for.

I absolutely loved your work on the Kingdom of Niua Simoa, amazingly beautiful, so I'd be of course a very happy simmer if you decided to join our project .

As for the concept, I've given a lot of thought about it but, since it is a shared project, I didn't wanted to impose my ideas so what I propose is that I'll give my ideas but everyone can add theirs or modify mine.

I love making sims - I can't promise to make ALL the sims but I can probably contribute at least a few interesting faces.

Me I think I'd be able to pitch in sim making, lot building, story creations and the sort. Sounds very cool ;P What type of world were you thinking of? Suburban, Victorian, City Style?

Thanks for offering to help litt0_lia

Well, if I've done it myself I would have chosen a western european fishtown or maybe a little bit bigger but still that kind of architectural theme. Maybe it's because it's what I know best but I love the feeling you get when you're in that kind of places, the beauty of the old stones, the apparent peaceful life that is in fact often the contrary. It's very scenic places on the contrary of (new) urban places that can be really impressive but cold. I don't know if I express it clearly, sorry. It's kind of like the feeling I tried to give to my Old Pear Beach redo. Anyway that would be just the scene, the story would matter a lot too to make it unique and not another town.

But that's just one idea and I'm open to other ideas even some less classical theme of course such as victorian but it requires a lot more: clothes, etc to make it look real.

I think I get what you're going for, and I like it. A warm, close-knit community where people can enjoy life's simple pleasures and old town charm. I'm actually brainstorming storyline ideas as I type this and I think I can come up with a few families that would fit in nicely. Maybe even a background story that involves the sea. It could be creepy, it could be touching.

What do you think would be best?

That sounds really interesting, I really love the style you're trying to create. Right now, I'm just imaging a big park with lots and lots of intricate landscaping. Then a big central tree with surrounding benches. Also, I think this world, we could really utilize the custom rabbit holes for community lots, so we could input the style you wanted into certain buildings. And I like the idea if we could mix in both creepy and touching. Such as one of those cliche love stories you see all the time. 6:

CharmingFirewaller, that's what I meant, yes. Glad you understood me and can't wait to see your propositions

litt0_lia, that's what I thought too. It should convey several emotions and both creepy and touching would be even better. I didn't wanted to use the eaxis rabbit holes anyway because they just wouldn't fit with the atmosphere we would be trying to create so I'm going to create customs buildings and use the custom rabbit holes.

For the park it is definitely going to be intricate, really natural, really not as symetrical and ordered as the one in sunset valley.

Two things are really important: the sea and the nature. The sea used to be not only the landscape but the life of the inhabitants and as for the nature it tends to regulate the life of the community. I hope I'm being clear.

I'm loving the ideas so far and yes, littl0_lia, I was kinda thinking of an overused love story as well. It would start out sweet then end in tragedy. Muahaha! Just kidding. We'll put our own spin on it.

Custom rabbit holes would be better and I think having your buildings instead of the EA ones would definitely make the town stand out. Having the sea and nature as recurring themes would be great too, cause it's like the town itself is a character. It would reflect the sims living in it and vice versa.

Hmm...we should name it. Maybe something like "Misty Shore" or "Eden" if you want Biblical references. That could help shape its history. We could have a museum dedicated to the first man and woman to set foot on the land and have the sims currently living there share tales about the town's history. Again, I'm just brainstorming...lol. It probably doesn't make sense now but we could start with that if you'd like.

I'm loving your museum idea! I see so many things to do with this, like our own pictures illustrating the town's life in the past etc... And the old tree in the park could have a story too. So old that it is now the only witness of many events that occured long ago and it wears the scars. Alright i may be going too far

Maybe we should wait to be sure that everyone is ok with this theme before naming it. But it doesn't prevent us to brainstorm further on it or even brainstorm on other themes.

Yeah, I think we should wait for others to decide on the theme too. Perhaps a better name would come up. I'm definitely a fan of the idea of giving something as mundane as a tree in the park significance, though. I like your description of it bearing scars from its past. Keep going!

Maybe we could have a few sims whose storylines relate to the events that have happened in the past. One of them could be falling in love with someone they're not supposed to (due to reasons I have yet to come up with...lol) and when walking by one of the paintings in the museum, he/she realizes they have much in common with a (fictional) historical figure. Sort of like history repeating itself.

And then we could have a desolate spot in the darker side of town that only brave (or ignorant) sims would dare to explore because of something that happened many years ago. There's something there that's keeping them away, but those who find out never return.

Dum dum dum dum....

Yeah and maybe bringing some old sims from TS1 or TS2.
that could be a good idea.

It could be a mix between a city and a forest something like that.
I'm not really good at building houses or stuff like that.
But i'm really good at creating sims and decorating houses. :D

Beaversyeah, you should post this on the Creator Feedback Forum, they will help you by giving you useful advices to help you decorate your world.

CharmingFirewaller, I like the idea of a desolate spot outside the town with a dark story within. So many things could have happened, maybe ghosts are still there... I let you explain the how, the why,... but I'll be definitely glad to build that kind of creepy building

maarco, I'm not really up for bringing sims 1 or sims 2 stories, or characters. Others have done it well already and i see this project as creating something new rather than bringing back some old favorites.
I think we have already 3 people on the sims so that should be enough. I usually build and decorate to keep some kind of unity but since CharmingFirewaller said she wanted do some buildings too if she agrees I guess we could delegate some of the buildings. I'm not trying to put you off, I'm glad you want to join our project Just trying to see who could do what.

Here are some pictures of a town I had in mind when I thought of the fishtown theme:

That's just for inspiration, if, of course, we take this theme. Kiwi_tea and SimGirlTasia232 have to agree on this or we could go crazy and choose a theme like native Americans, or Mayas, or Romans. That requires more work but that could be fun too

I think it'd probably be best for us to create a social group for this project - this thread can be used for recruiting but actual discussion and ideas would be easier to keep organized on its own thread.

Just a note, group projects are HARD. They need a particular leader or leaders (1-3 people) who kick peoples' butts to get stuff done, and a clear time frame for when it'll be done. I've seen a LOT of group projects fail because of a lack of leadership.

Also, ya'll have seen the rabbit hole rugs? They're on the Finds on the front page of MTS (but not uploaded here). Super useful for making truly custom rabbit holes YAY

Good idea, I'm going to create one now. Thanks for the warning, that would be a pity that such a project fail because we handled it badly. We'll discuss on the leaders and the organization there then.

I've seen the rugs already, on custom sims 3, I think. It is certainly a must-have. Great creation.

Edit: The social group has been created. You can now join the CAW group project (since we haven't choose our theme yet that's the best I came up with in a short notice, sorry). Here we can now discuss on our world and organize ourselves. See you there!

Beaversyeah, please keep talk of your town to Creator Feedback - you can make a thread there and get help on it - this thread is for this particular group project. Thanks.

Ooh, Lana, I love the first picture (=
Brick houses and cobble roofs would look great~

I have an idea, what if a foreigner (girl) from an unknown country came into the world we are working on now. She falls in love with a boy, but she carried a deadly disease only she was immune to. Soon after her arrival, people begin to become sick. So she brings a plague upon the town, but the boy still loves her even though he is the sickest of them all. The girl was pregnant beforehand, because she was fleeing from an evil husband(Yeah, I know xP). A few weeks(?) after, she gives birth to a baby that is also immune to the disease. This is how they figure out it was her who brought the disease, who killed many of the towns peoples. So she ends up getting burned to the stake, executed, blah blah...the disease still kills most of the town's population. But only a few dozen survived the plague, these were the ones who didn't care she carried a disease. They were able to see past that, and see she didn't mean to do it. Then these people came immune, and so they began to make babies(for lack of a better word) to re-populate the island. So everyone is immune, but there is a warning outside the island, that says those without good of heart will definitely parish.

Aiy? How's that. My idea on this story anyways, theres still holes but... tell me what you think.

Your plague idea sounds awesome, litt0_lia! I like the bit about her being burned at the stake. Not the fact that she burns, just that it's very dramatic and would make a very interesting story. It's also morbidly romantic which I think is appropriate since we agreed on the creepy/touching theme.

Those pictures are great, Lanawinst. The town's gonna be really lovely and the view of the area surrounding the windmill is breath-taking. This has a lot of potential. And by the way, I'm a guy...LOL.

I'm gonna go look for the social group so we can discuss this further.
