What about the marriage of relatives?

The situation: two sisters had kids, those kids had their own kids. And now the kids of those other kids (in other words, the 3rd generation) have very high chemistry with each other. Would it do the game any good or bad if I married them? The geneology tree must become weird after that, although the game only shows it in chunks and never in full, so it's probably okay...

The game does not recognize beyond 1st cousins and grand parents so potentially, depending on how long you kept your Sims around, you could have a Sim that married it's great grandchild.

Shouldn't corrupt your game to have 2nd cousins marry. No idea what it will do to your gene pool but I would imagine it would similar to what happens IRL. Still there are no bad recessive genes so you might get a funny looking Sim or two but they won't be hemophiliacs.

Marrying first cousins once removed/second cousins or more distant should be fine: I've had a couple of marriages in my game which were similar (a sister marrying her brother-in-law, first cousins once removed marrying) and haven't seen any issues. The only issue you're likely to come across is if you do it too frequently your sims have a higher chance of looking alike, especially if you find that you've got a dominant facial feature (like an unusual nose) or hair/eye colour on a lot of related sims (heck, that can happen without inter-marrying: four generations in one family and I'm only now starting to breed out the uber-dominant brown eyes I gave one family).

Is it ok to delete a uni subhood, what is going to happen with the professors and other characters it has spawned, will they be 'deleted' incorretly or stay to clog up the character files or be relocated to another uni subhood? I want to create another uni subhood and I don't want this one anymore.

Same here. Hey, is there a way to "finally" delete the characters after deleting them in-game? Or no way? If so, that sucks. Because I used to delete characters if I put them in a neighborhood and they were made in the wrong one.

Nothing happens to them - they just stay where they are in your characters folder. I'd create the new uni sub-hood first. What will happen though, without the empty templates, is that when you create the new sub-hood, you will get an extra 50 students generated by the game. This happens every time when you create a new university after the first one (the first one generates the professors and NPCs as a one-time only event). It will make no difference if you delete the old hood first (and I think you can't delete it anyway - I have a feeling, once created, that you cannot delete the last/only university sub-hood in a neighbourhood), you will still get 50 new students. Just to make it even more annoying, the new students will be built on the same template as the first ones, so you will get 50 new sims who all look like someone else in your neighbourhood though they will have different names.

What you *might* do to avoid this is use Mootilda's terrain replacer to make a new country for your university and then delete or move around the existing buildings and/or build your own. If you used a EAxis uni in the first place, I don't know if this will cause problems with the secret lots (though you can make them visible in SimPE and can move them around then). I'd also move out any resident students to the bin first - just to avoid any problems with accidental deletions of lots. Make a backup first.

Unfortunately, by deleting characters in game, you have corrupted your neighbourhood. There is a way to delete characters (leaving only a stub file) but you have to prepare your sims for deletion BEFORE actually deleting the sim. And you need a mod (the batbox) and SimPE to do it.

Polgannon Project Seriously, I'm still working on it.

As I said, I think you'll find you are not able to delete the last uni neighbourhood - I seem to remember the option simply does not pop up. So you won't be able to delete the existing university.

So how do you delete it (safely)?

The way you normally delete a regular neighbourhood.

Press the 'delete' button in-game.

I believe once you've added a Uni subhood, you're committed to always having one so that all the Uni characters have a place to live, and that if you are able to delete the final one, it would be analogous to having deleted a whole lot of sims, which would be very bad.

ETA: Thank you for the correction/clarification, Maxon.

Well, not exactly - the sims aren't actually in the uni sub-hood (they're just files on a computer disk and the character files are stored separately from the neighbourhood and sub-hood files) but you are essentially correct: once added, you always have to have at least one uni sub-hood. That's why I said add the new uni sub-hood before deleting the old one (sorry MMAA, I could have made that clearer).

Bin empty lots that have been lived in without getting rid of the off-world loiterers. [need note about how to remove off-world loiterers]

Has anyone found a solution to this? Because I have some lots that I really want to save in the Lots and Houses Bin, but they have been lived in.

Pescado's batbox with it's Nuke Off-world Loiterers feature.

Thanks, but what are Loiterers?

Batbox has that function.

Ninja'd. Loiterers are sims what hang around - often invisibly.

Ok, what should I choose exactly from the Batbox?

And is there anything else I should be aware of?

Nuke. (If you don't see Off-World Loiterers under the Nuke button, that means the lot doesn't have any at that time.)

So, I'm fully aware of the dangers of tombstones and send them to my neighbourhood cemetery. However, in one case, I had a tombstone in my sim's inventory and he suddenly died in a kitchen fire. Would this have the same effect as deleting the tombstone?

I think you should be able to retrieve that one. You'll need someone that knows the original lost sim and the batbox. I think. Anyway, the option to recreate their tombstone will be on the batbox. You might have to summon the dead sim to the lot (Inge's cat) but I've forgotten exactly how to do it. You can find the instructions at MATY.

Brilliant, that worked perfectly. Thanks so much!

I had to summon the dead sim, make them selectable and then use the batbox in debug mode to do it, in case anyone else has a similar issue.

Hopefully nothing bad will come of that one...

I downloaded a custom neighbourhood, from plasticbox, it went well, then I thought it would be nice to have a downtown too, and added a custom downtown, to the custom neighborhood.
Then the downtownies "Spawned". I had forgotten about them. Was not happy to see them, again (only with new names.)

The downtown did not have any lots even, it was just a terrain. I deleted it. Then ran SimPE and deleted everyone from the Garth family.

However, I then ran Mootildas hoodchecker, it returned a long list of memories from the tricou family. I will just delete the whole neighbourhood now and install it again from plastic box. How can I add an empty downtown subhood?

Deleting sims will corrupt your neighborhood, unless done correctly. Don't do it. Here's the correct method for deleting a sim safely:
http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/s...pic,6205.0.html

To get an empty downtown subhood, you'll have to install an empty downtown subhood template, or just remove the existing downtown subhood template:
http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/s...ic,13382.0.html

In addition, you may want to install some or all of the no-regen mods from MATY:
