I know I've seen it discussed here but I've done searches and can't find anything. Does anyone know where to find mummitomium? It's supposed to be "around town." I've gone into the caverns under the market (in Egypt) and searched the ground but haven't been able to find anything. Anyone?? Thanks!! :D

You can find it through adventuring in tombs, or just picking it up as spawned stuff. Not sure precisely where it spawns but if you get the collection helper and pick up metals, you'll generally find at least three or four pieces of Mummitomium per day. I think there's also a mine on that little island type thing in Egypt IIRC, and there's usually some on the ground there and/or in the mine itself.

Go up into the hills almost directly above the two major pyramids. You will find a mine, as HP described, and Mummitomium spawns there.

I meant the mine on the island where you go down the steps and there's tomb stuff there... but yeah, up at the actual mine usually has a piece or two also.

One way of finding the spawning areas is to be in the military career. One of the opportunities in that career is to obtain some mummitomium. Whenever you have an opportunity like that active (and you do need to activate that opportunity when you get to Egypt), your map view will show where the mummitomium is located. It's much like the collection helper, only much more specific -- that is, it shows you where the mummitomium is located. There is also an opportunity requiring mummitomium in Egypt itself.

I have found, at least in my game, mummitomium spawns one rock every other day. I just got this by watching the map when this military opportunity was available and activated. There are certain areas where it will appear. The most consistent is the mine above the two pyramids. But it occasionally will show up in other locations.

There's also an Egypt adventure where you need to find mummitomium for one of the villagers and it will give you the same "collection finder" locator -- I suggest picking up every piece available at that time, maybe take a couple of Sim-days, so you'll have it in your inventory if you need it later.

Or, if you have enough points, you can purchase the lifetime reward "Collection Helper". This helps you find collectible stuff on the map view.

Thank you all for your responses. Here's what I found after searching diligently (lol) in my game. The mummitomium "icon" didn't show up after I got the challenge for the next sim day. My sim did have the collection helper and I used that to collect everything I could find and no mummitomium. HOWEVER, I discovered that it spawned one piece every other day and then the icon showed up when it spawned. So it took me about 4 sim days to get the two pieces for the adventure. So I guess that supports comments made here about the rate of spawning. But thanks especially for the hint aobut the military career. Since I have my sim "living forever" maybe I should send her to complete the military career before she goes adventuring again!! THANKs!! :D

There is also a chance for you to find mummitomium whilst exploring the catacombs of the graveyard. That's where I found my first piece.

Two methods that haven't been mentioned yet:

1. Use cheats. Under the buydebug category you can place Mummitomium spawners. You can place them on any lot, even in your sim's home town. But maybe you don't want to use cheats. Fortunately, there's yet another way that doesn't require cheats.

2. Sometimes the relic shop in Egypt will sell it, generally at a very high price. Typically between §900 to §1,100 a piece, and if sold, there are usually two pieces available for sale.

Because of the second method, it's why I recommend that while using WA, your sim should bring §10,000 x (# of days of the vacation) in money. Then make sure at least one member of your vacation party visits the relic shop every single sim day, and buys everything on the shelves. This will usually ensure there's a sufficient amount of metals for any of the quests.

If you have LN and your sim is a 4 or 5 star celebrity, you can get away with §5,000 x (# of days) because sometimes your sim will get huge discounts on purchases.

You can go into map mode and check all the metals spawns .. that at least works.

The relic merchant doesn't always have it available, so your Sim can't always buy it.

Since my Sims are usually only on vacation for 3 days, I don't have days and days to wait for a piece to spawn here and a piece to spawn there. I use Twallan's Debugenabler to create it so I can complete the adventure.

Purchase the Traveler Life Time Reward to extend your vacation time to 6 days. Then you can search to your hearts content.

Another Collection Helper alternative, btw, is a dog With enough points in the Hunting skill, you can have a dog "search for" rocks or gems, and they'll show up in map view. Of course, you'd need Twallan's Traveler mod to take a dog to Egypt; well worth it though I'd say And fun to have a canine companion for tomb raiding!

You can also use buydebug to buy a treasure chest, and set the treasure to be whatever you need. Its a more immediate way of cheating than to set a spawner and wait

I don't think there are actually buyable metals and gems, only the spawners. It is not like the plants, that you can buy.

Dude the copper request, I had a family of 5 run around and pick up all the metal that showed on the map and then put it all on one player. I got 37 copper, 5 iron, 5 gold, 1 silver and 2 mummytonian. I sent them all to be smelted and then raided the copper mine to see if it had ore. I got the Mail and the mummytonian had become 6 bars and you generally only use 2. If you have one ore try smelting it to see if the quest will take bars, and you can put out a 10x10 lot with 1 ore on it and then save it to your tray. Then just put down the lot and take the ore and then crash the lot and repeate untill you have enough ore. I have 90 something copper bars. From just smelting. You just click on the ore in the backpack and smelt all.

Step 2 put 100 something ores in the stone chest on a 10 x 10 lot and then fill it with bars. Save it to tray, and then raid the chest, burn the lot and place it again BTW I would never do that but its tempting.

<-- is that considered cheating? That is if you dont post said chest to the Exchange? (In Sims 2 we called that a skill lot.) To really qualify for a skill lot you have to put collection Helper in the chest and make it a quest to use collection helper except ... wait .... if you have collection helper you cant use it during a quest for finding things because it messes with the free one the quest gave you.
