I haven't been on the sit for 2 years and recently bought a new computer and the sims. When I try to acess your site it says "The admin has banned your IP address". When I was here before, I never say or did anything to have it banned so what is the issue and how can it be undone?

You probably inherited the IP address of someone who got banned.

Neither of the IP addresses you've used are banned. I'm not sure how you're getting the banned message, in light of that - and able to access the site to post this message, if you're IP banned. So, um, yeaaaah...

But normally, if you get an IP banned message and haven't done something, it's as Pescado says - someone else had that IP, did something wrong enough to get IP banned, and sometimes, we have to ban a larger range than a single person. Or we ban a single IP and eventually that person switches IPs and someone else gets it. We don't like to IP ban people because sometimes innocent people can get caught in it, but IP bans are preferrable to letting a persistent troublemaker do whatever they want on the site.

I'm posting this from my phone, its the only way I was able to. I can't post from my computer because acess to the site has been banned. Is there a way to remove the IP ban. So I can acess the site?

I'm Bajan and my name starts with a K. You're overthinking it.

Unfortunately if an IP was banned it was because it was absolutely necessary to stop someone from accessing the site who needed to be removed. Someone else who uses your same ISP caused issues, and through their behavior, has made it so our only option to keep them off MTS is an IP ban. As IP bans are our last line of defense for troublemakers, they are permanent. Sorry.

I don't think its right that because of someone else, I can't acess this site. There's absolutly nothing that can be done?

It's not fair, but it is, unfortunately, necessary. The only other thing that can be done is for you to use a different connection - library, work, friend's house, something like that.

You could always ask your ISP to give you a "static" IP!

Isn't it sad that trolls get back with such ease and innocent bystanders don't?

I am Ghost. My husband (who made the account because I was too shy) is sidneydoj. I post, he downloads, and I wanted to keep my post count.

Bajan is posting. I don't really understand why he feels he has a problem.

If he's posting from his phone it means he can't download. (Unless he gets a flash drive and downloads to the flash drive from a friend's house or the library.)

The thing is that most libraries block this site because of "nudity" because it has an underwear section. Really is a shame.

This might help, but not sure if it will work because of the large scale ban.

This is why I generally only ban registrations from an IP. If they can't register, they can't really do anything anyway, and it avoids harming existing users.

Vampire_of_Death - This has nothing to do with a restriction on their end like a library filter or whatever - it's because someone else who uses their same ISP did something stupid here and got an IP ban. And we had to ban a range because their IP was dynamic.

Pescado - We generally do it that way too - but with the ease of someone, say, registering an account at a friend's house to bypass the registration restriction (or using a public login like those posted on Bugmenot), it won't cover everything. And in this case it's a new registration anyway, so only banning for new registers wouldn't have really helped them - they were able to register using an alternate means of accessing the site. It's a new account.

Unfortunately, our choice as staff is between inconveniencing a handful of people who may be caught in an IP ban that wasn't their fault... or between inconveniencing many people who have to deal with the troublemakers who warranted the ban in the first place. In any case, I'm going to mark this answered - very sorry if you've gotten caught in an IP ban and didn't do anything.

Yes, I got that, I was talking about him not being able to use the site at a library because of their filters etc. Sorry for the confusion.
