Okay, I posted this in creator issues and no one answered me, I guess this is the place to go. I created this lot for the medieval challenge and it was denied because it was not a full lot. I made it as a small lot that was supposed to be used as a photo shoot , it was a set that you could plop your sims or objects in to take pictures so you don't have to go through all the trouble of downloading and decorating just to take a few pictures without it being boring or poorly done. So, it wasn't a full lot because there is no reason for it to be. I could make a huge castle, but that would defeat the purpose. If there is a huge lot and a slow computer, it is next to impossible to take pictures without lag. Also, to delete all the furniture except in the room you want takes way too long, again defeating the purpose. I was hoping to help some people out with this one, I mean so many people could use these. Is there another category to put this in? I have more I would love to upload. Or could I edit the lot so it does have a kitchen, bathroom and simple landscaping, but in maxis content so it would be more like a studio? The only thing is in my lots, they use downloadable roof so it looks super bad from the outside. |

Could you post pictures here so we can see it? I would suggest uploading it as Miscellaneous. That's where you find CAS backgrounds. |

The post in Creator Issues hasn't yet been answered because it's rather hard to answer. Misc -> Misc might be more appropriate, as it certainly isn't a lot - but the way you've described the upload, is essentially as a list of handy CC, organised into a nice layout. That's all very well - but making it easy for people to set up a particular theme is what the content lists are for. It really seems more like you intended to make a lot but ran out of time than anything else - taking an unfinished upload and repurposing it. I don't know if this is or isn't what happened; but you certainly have ended up with an upload that doesn't really fit anywhere. |

First of all, thank you both for answering, I really appreciate it. I honestly just want a resolution. No, I intended it to be a photoshoot. That is why there is limited CC that is included and that it is on such a small lot size. Here are some pictures if that matters much: As I stated, it is supposed to be for creators that need a quick set without having to look all over the place for decorations they only need once, half of which they won't use, just to set it up for a few minutes and forget about. If my lot was submitted, it includes everything, so its quick and saves space in your downloads folder. It includes credits for every object, so if they need to credit them or want to, it's all right there. In my actual upload, I said I wanted to make a full lot yes, but this idea is totally separate, this is shown in the fact that again, its a small lot and that I didn't leave room to make a full castle. I wanted to give my entry my all, not a half assed attempt at a house. So my question is, can I upload it into the misc->misc section, or should I not bother? It takes a lot of work to get everything right, so if there is no chance, I don't want to even waste my time. Thank you. |

Having a nice pre-built set with the CC you need in the Sims2pack would be really handy. When you aren't using it you can uninstall it to save room, and when you need it you can put it back. I wonder why nobody has tried to upload any of those before? That's a wonderful idea! |

As far as I know, there's no simple way to uninstall every CC associated with a lot. You'd have to individually delete them. So, the only thing that this lot does is to collect a bunch of CC for installation. |

I had intended for the dowloader to extract into a separate folder so that it can be easily removed. Can anyone tell me if this would be approved, theoretically in the misc. misc section? This is ssuming I did everything right, but I mean, would a lot of this type be accepted? |

Maybe it is more: would a Lot of this type be wanted by downloaders? IMO, if the upload is intended to be a photoshoot type of Lot, does it have rooms/backdrops for all the different decor style or cater for all type of photoshoot theme or *just* castle-medieval style theme? If castley-medieval type theme *only*, why would a downloader download it, especially if they are not doing a challenge or contest-type entries and thus have no need for such? And how many such challenges/contests are running around the Sims fansites at any given time? It would be just as easy for me to create a couple of walls and have the appropriate-themed wallpaper and other similarly-themed decor items that I already have, since I'm submitting such-and-such a themed-Sim/Item. And then change that Lot with the walls for other themes myself, as and when needed. I don't have to worry about having to add and remove CC everytime I need to take photos for my new Sim/item to be uploaded. ~my .02 cents... |

This isn't likely to be approved. Misc > Misc is really for things that literally just don't belong anywhere else. Your upload is still a lot, so it doesn't really belong there. As some have mentioned already, this is just a handy list of medieval CC conveniently packaged in a lot. We try to discourage what we call 'cc horses' or lots that are just filled to the brim with cc, most of which is unnecessary. People do that to get around objects being pay or their creators policies limiting their works redistribution. While I understand that these are not your intentions, your lot doesn't have much of a purpose. Ellacharm3d is right, if you need a backdrop for a photo you likely already have many usable things on hand and it doesn't take much time to put together a single room for that. You might have a stronger case for storytellers, but then I would argue that they would likely need complete lots as they are running a story and not just snapping pretty pictures. While its an interesting idea, I don't think there is much demand for it. Hope that helps you.

Wouldn't the lot cost a fortune? I know that when I take photos of my sims I use a very plain house with good lighting that is cheap so that I can whip my new sims in there without having to mess around with money cheats in order for them to even afford the house. It's very pretty, but I wouldn't use it as a photo studio. I prefer plain backgrounds

(Edited) Of course it isn't going to have all the possible styles if it's a small lot without enough room for a full castle. I'll bet it probably doesn't cost as much either. (And I still think it's a cool idea. It's too bad that it would only work in Sims 2.)

It IS a cool idea but I honestly wouldn't download something like this. Even if it is in a special folder, it wouldn't be something that would be used very often. Not only do I try to keep the amount of cc down..I have 2 lots (with sims on them just in case something needs tested with a sim) that I use just for screenshots and testing. At the moment, the only cc I have is stuff I've done/am working on and a few other things. So it's not that hard for me to find furniture/wallpaper/flooring/etc..BUT if I had my full download folder in game? It'd be much easier to make a collection or 2 with the stuff I'd be most likely to use. |

Actually, I think this might be a neat idea. You could make it look like a TV/movie studio with all the necessary facilities. A proper building with roof and simple but decently interesting architecture and decor. It could have a simple kitchen and bathroom, and whatever else a film studio might have, including some "sets" all dressed up as medieval (or whatever theme) rooms ...maybe with extra lights in those rooms placed where they would illuminate the sims well. A place like that might be fun just to play in, it wouldn't have to be only for photoshoots.

Okay, I can do this. So, should I be cataloged in community or residential? If it is going to be use as I intended, it would have a bunch of random people running through it and you wouldn't be able pose your sims. Also I have another problem, what can I do about this roof?I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be accepted. I was just thinking of building a second floor and put a roof on that to hide it. ![]() And to everyone that has tried to help and said positive things, thank you. And to everyone that keeps saying it's useless, I'm sure some of your downloads are quite useless as well. I appreciate you trying to tell me what you think, but telling me that something I worked really hard on is worthless is a bit over the top. Instead of telling me how much I suck, how about you suggest a way to get it approved while keeping my original intention. |

I think it would be fine to make it a residential lot, but that roof definitely needs fixing. It looks really wonky. You'll also need to make sure all the lot edges are level (which is required to prevent gaping holes in people's neighbourhoods) and that the upload meets all the usual Creator Guideline Requirements for Lots. For suggestions on how to improve the roof and overall structure, you should post a thread in the Creator Feedback forum. |
