Wow, this group really died since DW ended.

Since telly seems to one thing that gets us talking what is your favourite comedy program on telly at the minute? What's the worst and why?

I have absolutely fallen in love with Shooting Stars (I know the series just ended) but it's hilarious in it's own way. Oooh, and John Bishops Britain is good too - does that end tomorrow? Don't think I have a worst funny TV show, but anything with Michael McIntyre is pretty much a FAIL imo. He absolutely does my head in.

I don't get Michael McIntyre either. Whenever he appears on Mock the Week he's mocked constantly by the other comedians. I can understand why - its partly jealousy I suppose, and hes on every BBC programme known to man!!!

Russell Howard is going the same way now too. I don't like him either though. xD

I love Mock the Week.

Mock the Week is awesome, though it's not quite as funny now that Frankie's gone, though I guess the others get to say more! And it's less risky for the BBC. Other comedians don't appear to like him, I think because he's come out of nowhere as well. And he's not funny. Russel Howard was never really that funny on Mock the Week, but his Good News show seems to just be like swearing for the hell of it, I'm not a prude, and swear a lot myself, but I just can't watch it. I forgot Would I Lie To You. I can't believe I've only just starting watching that, Lee Mack and David Mitchell are brill. I've been watching all the repeats on Dave.

I've been watching Dave too, I even named my bonsai tree after it! =']

Frankie isn't funny because all he knows are one-liners, and Russell Howard's humour seems based on things like "Like oh my fucking God! My granny turned into a monster! Grrrrr!" Being wierd and swearing isn't funny!

I like Would I Lie To You, but I'm not a big fan of Lee Mack. He just insults people and I can't stand his accent. I love David Mitchell though, as well as Hugh Dennis, Marcus Brigstocke, Steve Punt, Sandi Toksvig, Dara O'Brian, Jon Holmes... basically, the posh and/or sarcastic ones.

I love Would I Lie To You, Have I got News For You, QI, Michael McIntyre... However I'm not a big fan of Mock the Week.
Oh, and I love Sean Lock.

L&L you don't like Frankie????

I used to love QI, recently it doesn't seem as funny as it first was though, it just seems like the same thing happens every episode. Alan will almost definitely lose with a negative number because he'll make the buzzers go off. Sean Lock is great though "They say a woman's work is never done. Maybe that's why they get paid less." LOL!

I live for comedy most of the time. At the moment, I'm really loving Grandma's House. Simon Amstell is not only sexy and funny, but he's great at inventing stories! :D

I love Simon Amstell! I was devestated when he left Nevermind the Buzzcocks, it just won't be the same.

Meh, everyone said that when Lamarr left because he was absolutely brilliant, but then he was replaced with Amstell who was also great. I actually really liked having guest hosts. I think my favourite was Alex James. My favourite episode of the last series though was the Doctor Who one because Catherine Tate was totally mad and Bernard Cribbins was so wonderfully abstract.

Outside of panel shows - Mock the Week, Buzzcocks, QI etc - there isn't much by way of British comedy shows (there actually isn't many British shows of any kind except soaps, documentaries and reality shows but that's another topic for another thread), however I love Peep Show - new series coming soon = yay - The Boosh, Inbetweeners, Gavin and Stacey and Black Books.

Is Black Books the thing will Bill Bailey? I've never watched it, but I love Bill Bailey.

Can't say I care for Little Britain either, I never really found it funny, which I don't get since Matt Lucas as giant baby George Dawes is (was) hysterical.

What about Outnumbered, The Thick of It - they're not panel shows but still brilliant imo.

Totally agree about George Dawes, peanuts anyone (you should search him on youtube, there are some hilarious clips on there)?! I think Matt Lucas and David Walliams are great comedians. I did enjoy Little Britain but I think with sketch shows there is only so much you can do with the characters before it gets repetitive, so I only really enjoyed the first series. I also prefer more spontaneous comedy rather than scripted and I find Matt and David funnier when they're themselves as opposed to their characters (although Vicky Pollard will always have a place in my heart!).

God, Peanuts was hysterical, I wonder why he left? But Angelos is brill too (and the guy that plays him is totally sexy )

I think they created some brilliant characters on Little Britain like you said like Vicky and Lou & Andy, but I just never really go into LB, maybe you need to watch several episodes? Dunno.
