I am on a mac so I can't get the 'Create a World' program, but I want to create a cool new neighborhood. I got the Sims 3 when it came out but haven't really played it until now. In TS1+2 you could create new neighborhoods but I couldn't see an option to make one in this game. |

You can't create a new neighbourhood from inside the game. With Ambitions we got the option to add/delete neighbourhood objects and lots, that's it. |

You could not create a real neighborhood in Sims 2 either. It had to be done in Sim City. I think what the OP means is starting a new hood from scratch. You could do one of two things...open a new game in one of the EA worlds and delete all the houses and lots. Or two, download a blank copy of one of the EA worlds. They are available in numerous places and you could probably locate one here or through google. |

Um, you actually could create neighborhoods in Sims 2 without any other program...

She was referring to making the actual terrain and placing roads, and for that you needed Sim City. Inside the game you could take any terrain and modify lot placements, and hood deco, and for the exception of the new terrain up/down cheats that came with LN, after you had a neighborhood inside the game, you couldn't really modify the terrain.

Is it me ? or is CAW driving other people nuts?? I hate the roads!!! I wish it was like sim city: join two roads, no prob intersection appeared, put a road over water, no problem, bridge (and a choice) appeared. And the manual is no help either. Oh well hopefully the next update of CAW will be easier. |

CAW is still supposed to be in it's beta stage though. Honestly I think it's at the bottom of EA's to-do list, maybe they'll give out a finished version after the next EP. They're probably focusing on working on things they can actually make money from first. (Don't feel bad OP! I'm a Mac user too! D:) |

I know CAW drives me nuts, mainly because the tools decide to stop working randomly and suddenly I can't paint anymore :/ I have a great neighborhood in the works, if only I could get the tool to behave for more than ten consecutive minutes. |

We won't see a huge update of CAW. They will update it for new EPs but not with big changes. I work with terrain building software for my job and CAW is much MUCH easier to use than they are. Most games use very un-user friendly terrain creation software. So to me, CAW is amazing and wonderful!! The reason it was so much easier in Sim City is because it was a different sort of engine and a different sort of world. Sims 3's world is more like what you see in an MMO, a real open world that you can explore every detail. Sims 2 was much simpler and while you could see the cars driving over your bridges from a distance, you actually did not see your Sims driving the car over the bridges. Its completely different. Using CAW takes a lot of patience but the results are wonderful. Its probably my favorite aspect of Sims 3 and without it I would have quit long time ago.
