Problem with kids going to and coming home from school
I've been having a weird problem with kids and school. It takes them almost 2 to 3 sim hours to get home and they don't come home with homework. When I go to the school, all the kids are standing in front of the school. It appears as if they are unable to get into school. I'm not sure why that is affecting how long it takes them to get home.
This is happening in all the neighborhoods I've used except for Bridgeport as I don't play this one.
Is anyone else having this problem or have an idea how to correct it.
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. I don't think it is a game issue as described in that link. It seems to be a routing problem. The kids are all bunched up together and can't get into the door of the school, so they end up standing around.
Does that make any sense? I couldn't find an answer at Game help.

I had this happen when I had a bad mod. They would go to the school, but no one could enter, so there was a mass of NPCs outside. For me it was happening to all community buildings, not just the school.
If you select your sim, then click on the school to force him to try to go inside and he does the routing temper tantrum, then start checking your mods. IIRC, I was using 2 mods by the same creator that caused my problems.

It is just a routing issue you're experiencing? The interactions for school, career and opportunities are not affected?
Which is why we asked to do that game problem FAQ, most of the time the cause was an outdated mod.
If no mods are the culprits, it could be due to overcrowding (place a second school in the world) or just simply a borked rabbithole (demolish and replace), it happens.
Or having the old framework still in place in Programs Files paths - can be confirmed with new user files and issue still occurring in brand new, cc-free worlds.
But the only way to confirm any of the above is to do the FAQ which would show whether CC is the cause or not, by testing if the new, cc-free game has the same borked school, you may just need to play a bit to see if the glitch is replicated if overpopulation is what you suspect.
Another slim possibility is if you just added Ambitions - the auto-placement of the Ambitions-specific Lots sometimes caused borkiness in other Community lots/rabbitholes.

Thanks everyone for your ideas.
I haven't added any custom content or mods in awhile now. The school is very crowded, lots of families in town but putting two schools didn't help. They just didn't go to the other school. So I went with the borked rabbithole and that seems to be working at the moment.
I demolished the old school, bulldozed the lot, and then put another school back on that spot. When I check it out during school hours, there are still a ton of kids standing in front but the sims I'm playing with are in the school.
Thanks again
