I wanted to recolor this lampshade from the base game, but it did not appear in Wizard of SimPE, so I tried Object Workshop. I made a color-enabled recolor package file and opened the package file. I exported the texture, recolored the lampshade part, and imported the texture. I committed and saved. Then I went to the game and it had a Maxis texture! It worked perfectly fine with the shower, but I couldn't recolor the lampshade.

HELP!

It would help if you would give the lamp name. Lamps tend to have 3 textures, one for the base and one each for teh lit/unlit states. Did you recolor all three images? Is this lamp color-enabled due to CEP? ANd if yes, do you have it installed in the game config your testing your recolor in?

Name of Object: "Wall Flowers" Sconce

I was supposed to recolor three textures? That's weird. As I recall, I only saw that there was the base and the lampshade. Where do I find three textures -- the base, the unlit, and the lit? How do I know and differentiate the lit and unlit?

I think this lamp is color-enabled due to CEP, because SimPE allows me to create a color-enabled package. Yes, I do have it installed in the game config, because this is a base-game object. So, it's supposed to work in the base game. I have the base game, Open For Business, H&M Stuff Pack, and Kitchen&Bath Interior Design Stuff Pack.

That light appears to be one that does not have a lit and unlit state, and when I ran a test recolor through SimPE it pulled just one texture. But if it did have both, the lit texture would be brighter than the unlit.

So when you open your recolor file, is your texture the one there? And when in game do you see the custom recolor option? The recolor you did, it shows up with the * on the thumb?

Is your package file in a directory/folder that the game can find? (Downloads, Savedsims)

I made a color-enabled package file via SimPE. I saved it in my Projects folder so I could work on it. I opened the package file with SimPE, exported the texture, edited the texture, and imported the texture into the package file. At this point, the texture appeared to be changed, so I would expect that I had made a new recolor. I went into the game and opened a test lot. I drew a wall on the ground and attached the lamp on to the wall and tried to find the recolor option. The recolor option was available; it had the * sign, but the color was Maxis.

hrmmm..Can you attach your package file so I can take a look at it? But first, did you Import or use Build DXT? If you used import then maybe all the textures in the mipmap may not be your textures, so based on your zoom level it could show Maxis or yours. And I guess what textures show if you zoom in/out?
