So if you're like me you're UBER frustrated at testing and retesting paints and road parts or opening them in Photoshop or what ever because you CAN'T SEE THEM. I was so frustrated I went looking on Google for a while until I found this.... http://mysticcoder.net/mysticthumbs.html Basically, it runs and has a little icon for you and it allows you to see all your files! You just install it. Some time after (like a month maybe, can't remember) it will have a popup on start up asking for a serial but I just click the tick and get on with it. It's "only" $25 but I can't afford it. If I did buy it though the annoying "mystic logo" would quit showing in the thumbnails. Regardless it's a real time-saver!! Anyway, here's a list of files it supports (I bolded what I think people would be interested in): Quote:
While this isnt a resource "for CAW" it's for use with CAW and I figured would help more people in this section than buried in the other . Happy CAWing!! ( )

Thanks for this, Alundra, but I'm moving this back into CAW, as it's neither a user created resource or a free download. Some may find it useful though, so thank you for posting. If you want a free program that will allow you to view DDS files, I'd suggest this one: http://developer.nvidia.com/content...ure-viewer-089b Since it's free, made by NVidia and also allows you to scroll through your images with a mouse wheel. I know it's not exactly the same as your recommendation, but it doesn't cost anything! |

Yeah, that Nvidia one hasn't been updated in forever and doesn't work with Win7. At least, not for me and for a great many other Win7 users online. But if you're persistent enough, there are other options. Mystic is one of the most recommended, but the newest versions are all pay. The earlier free version (1.98) is still floating around out there, and it works beautifully. However, as the latest version number is 2.63, there's obviously been some updates. There are others out there, just Google "DDS thumbnail viewer" + "windows 7" if you need one that works with 7. It is SO helpful to be able to preview what texture you're planning on using before loading it into CAW. I always forget what shade or even what a file looks like at all when I'm trying to make a palette set. It doesn't matter how descriptive a file name is, it's not the same as a picture representation to glance at. |

The Windows Texture Viewer works fine for me on both XP 32 bit and Windows 7 64 bit. I did not install it to the default location, so UAC could be an issue if you put it in Program Files, perhaps? |
