Not sure if I'm the only one experiencing this, but I can't hyperlink urls in any of my replies. I'm using the hyperlink icon in the advanced reply box.
When I try to I get this: http://dnssearch.rr.com/index.php?o...80%26posted%3D1
It doesn't always link to the same search site, but the link never leads to where it should. For instance, the hyperlink that produced the above link should have gone to the hacks list at MATY. If I post full urls they work fine. I've been having this problem for a few months now. I use firefox as my browser but I was using it before the issue started so I don't think that's the problem.
Any help on fixing this would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance

Just out of curiosity does it also do that in Chrome, or IE? I ask becuase it's almost like the links are getting hijacked somehow...

Edit: I just tried it myself (using Test as a text and www.modthesims.info as the link, and it works fine)

<Corsix> Why 'mod the sims 2' when you can mod 'mod the sims 2'?

Did you create that hyperlink using the Insert Hyperlink button, or did you copy it from another post? If the latter, could you give us a link to that post? I'm wondering if this is actually a redirect hijack on your end which is sending you to silly places, even when your actual hyperlinks are fine.

Is this a new development? Just switched ISP?
At first I thought it's something to do with the DNS changer virus thingie, then my search returns this among the results. http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/763866

Delphy: I don't use chrome or ie so I'm not sure if it does the same for me in them as well. I didn't think to check that out before but I will do that.

Whiterider: I did use the hyperlink button on that link

Ella: I can't exactly remember how long this has been happening but it did start before that virus you mentioned. I've had the same isp for over a year. Unlike the article you linked to, I'm only having the issue hyperlinks on this site. I can use keywords in my browser address bar and such with no problems.

Going to download Chrome and see if that helps.

Edit: Apparently it's just a firefox issue so looks like I'm going to start using Chrome instead. Thanks for the help!

I guess it wasn't a firefox problem after all. I replied to this post: http://www.modthesims.info/showthre...d=1#post3931663 using the hyperlink button and I'm getting the same results even though I am now using Chrome. I left the hyperlinks there and just reposted the links since I'm linking to that post here.

I noticed something in your link in the corner stairs: this is what your first link looks like (copied link location and pasted into a new tab) - http://http//www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=183892. There's an extra http:// in there. Copy/paste and taking that extra http:// out will usually let the link work properly. I did that however and still got redirected to a Google page. Not a solution to your problem, just thought I'd point it out.

edit: After what ellacharm3d posted, I looked and didn't even notice the : that was missing. So, yeah, taking just the http//out of that link leads to the right place.

It's all in the "what" was copied and pasted.

If you copied a whole URL with its http URI scheme, then you need to replace the "http://" portion (which is pre-filled) in the Hyperlink input area when you click the

button, when you paste. But if what you copied is only from the "www" onwards, then you paste it after placing the cursor after the "/" symbol in the Hyperlink input area.

For that thread, the first 2 links are both missing the ":" after the "http".
The last 2 links work.
And all four do not have any of the dnssearch.rr redirect stuff.

When I clicked on the links right after I posted them I got the dnserror thing but that was probably from the missing punctuation.
I always just copy whatever is in the address bar and paste it into the hyperlink without deleting what's already there. Kinda feel like a noob at the moment

Thanks again for the help.
