You really do not want to convert clothes, it is a huge ammount of work.
Hair can be done i guess but no tutorial available.

You can download TSRW, it is a easy to follow proggy that lets you view all EA's stuff.(you do need to have sims 3 installed.)
With it comes a set of plugins that you need to install in your Milkshape directory(just copy and past will do)
You find them in TSRW's installation folder inside the extra's folder if im correct.

In TSRW you can clone a hair for instance and after cloning you have the possibility to export the textures(texture tab) and the meshes(meshtab)
With the plugin installed you can view the meshes in Milkshape.
