If you are having problems with the patch...

Whether your issue is with downloading/installing the new patch, or if you've got it installed and now your game is having issues, that's a job for the Help section. Do not post here for help with your game!

For issues with the patch itself, see: Patch Issues
For problems with your game that have come up since installing the patch (or ANY problems with your game in general!) see: Sims 3 Game Problem

So I installed the patch on my old computer to check things out and everything seems to be working as it should. I only tested for a little bit but CC and my updated mods (only NRaas) are working well.

I didn't see any issues with CAS or CAS CC. I only have default skins (no non-defaults) and a handful of hair and piercings though. And they implemented the make-up by category in the same way as with hairstyles—with the little lock at the top. I already had that feature in my game courtesy of Master Controller, but it's good of them to implement it officially… finally. Can't figure out how the family wardrobe is supposed to work, however.

And for those of you who were concerned about being able to avoid the social features in the patch (of which I definitely was one), I'm happy to report that you can avoid them pretty much entirely. I kept the game blocked through my firewall, shop mode off, and didn't log in, and everything in-game was the same as before. You will be nagged the first time you get to the main menu with a message saying something to the effect of "You are strongly encouraged to log in to fully enjoy all features the game has to offer… blah blah" but there's a check box where you can tell it to not show the message again. And there's an extra tab in Options, but that's easy to ignore. In the notification box in the upper right hand corner, there is a tab for player updates but it's just greyed out and unclickable if you don't enable the feature.

Now I'm cautiously optimistic that SHT and Simport will be fully "opt-outable" as well. I mean, there will still be those locked features and that pisses me off, but most likely they will be able to be modded to be unlocked and I guess I can live with that. At least TPTB haven't required an internet connection to play the game (yet). That would be a deal breaker for me.

So, yay! Everything hasn't erupted into a fiery ball of fury so far. Let's hope it stays that way with the release of SHT. I'll probably patch my "real" game in a couple of days. Hopefully there won't be another patch next week.

Two words.....Memory Hog.... I did try the new features, and encountered a problem while trying customization to build a house. If you tap the randomization button alot, while being logged into the features, it will stop randomizing and get stuck on that particular item. You can come out and select another item by switching from build mode to object mode but......if you click on the paintbrush icon to customize a new object, customization will go into a endless loop. And you will either have to ctrl alt delete out, or click to go back to main menu. I'm not sure if you can save if you go out using the main menu option, I was to scared. But if that's not a bug, it's never happened to me before, so that's what I've found with the new patch. That kind of sucks, because the achievement system looks kind of interesting and I wanted to try that for awhile. But you have to be logged on for things to be counted towards that...Cest le vie

Generations Updates
Additional bug fixes and polish to existing features.

Late Night Updates
Additional bug fixes and polish to existing features.

Ambitions
Additional bug fixes and polish to existing features.

World Adventures
Additional bug fixes and polish to existing features.

Base Game
Additional bug fixes and polish to existing features.

Thanks for the information coming from someone who has applied the patch. I also use Twallan's mods; although I do have quite a few non default skins that I use that should not be a big issue; creators are always doing something new.

Heh! Shows how much I know about modding. Least of all - Twallan-style modding.

I installed and it took me a few tries to get it to load. I have a lot of Twallan's mods but no custom content. Now there's a popup alerting you that you had mods in your game that aren't up to date. The game actually would crash until I removed four of Twallan's mods which haven't been updated. Just sharing my experience!

Actually, for me that issue was solved when I removed Error Trap

So far, I have it working just fine And I love the fact they allow you to turn off those online notifications! I got quite annoyed by that pop up that remained in my screen asking me to post whatever I was doing. Turning off those online notifications removed them! But, I do not have friends on my sims account, never actually used it, so I'm not sure what the patch does on that front

Just a warning. Some people have been saying that their login was not automatic. I don't know why, but my login WAS automatic, and it seems to log me in every single time I start the game. So don't assume that you're not logged in. Check it!

It's sad when the only feature in the patch that we're excited about is the ability to turn off the new features.

I'm waiting until Twallan gets Master Controller, Error Trap and Over Watch updated for the new patch before I put in the new patch. I refuse to play with out those mods.

Hmm. Played about an hour with the new patch. It rendered my household's cat unplayable. I tried resetting, moving it in and out of the house, etc., to no avail.

Well, now that I don't have any mods that need to be updated on a regular basis...I think I'll sit this one out. I can live without SHT and I really can't be bothered to reinstall all my CC for the equivalent of ingame facebook. And the last time I updated it deleted my legacy savegame (and the backup) so I don't trust it anymore anyway.

Yay! Another cache .package to corrupt and mess with starting the game.

Okay, I don't know if it will corrupt, but we now have socialCache.package file in the Sims 3 folder. Oh the joy.

Still thinking...

I can't get any LTWs to show up in CAS. I just have these little blue hearts and when you click on them an empty text box pops up.

Twallan has been working on the updates and last night, when I checked, most were already up. He has always been great on keeping up with his mod updates.

Yeah, he's been really blitzing through them like a horse at the races! I'm rooting for him...as well as a number of other modders in our community. :gush-of-love:

There are reports of content not showing up in-game and problems installing new content after the latest patch from EA. We are currently narrowing down the issues behind this (most seems to be related to CAS content and textures) and will provide free updates through our newly launched Updates Service. If you have been a subscriber here previously you will be able to download all updated subscriber content for free as well.

We are sorry for the inconvenience this is causing many of you and we will report back here once we have come up with a stable solution.

Update: It seems the problem is not with the file formats, but rather with the installation itself not working properly. Hopefully this is a patch issue that will resolve itself with another patch (since even EA store content refuse to show for some). We'll keep investigating.

Deja Vu!!!! This is from a 2009 thread! We are actually making progress you'll we are coming full circle!

It would seem this patch does not like my Facial, or Sim Sliders?
