Well... Already in TS2 base game they had metal, rock, RnB and hiphop (among other categories). But in TS3, we still lack metal and rock, and RnB and hiphop came only after like three EPs.

And anyway, the music categories in the game aren't about appealing to the player's personal taste in music, but to be part of the sim world, sims' lives and stories. And for the player's personal musical interests we have the 'custom' category!

The weird thing is, that in LN they apparently almost included rock and jazz. Based on this discovery, you can notice that it must've been cut out at the last minute... so annoying! WHY DID THEY CUT IT OUT?!

When I saw that screenshot, I thought I'd fall off my chair, really... That looks like some poorly done CC to me. EA should learn from their fans who can do much better stuff thna they produce. Couldn't Ea just put some receipts of cakes into the game, and make items for a realistic, cozy pastry shop, with proper signs, wall and table menus, displays for items that can be bought and eaten, etc? That would be cool, but I can't even imagine who would buy this crap. I wouldn't even get it if offered it for free, seriously.

EA knows damn well that they can, and with minimal effort, but the lack of communication and focus (I don't care what the Gurus think, it's obvious, and the need to fix it, whatever the real problem is) make the product lack luster. This is simple crap that fans can mod into the game. I'm sure EA can clone some cakes, or food in general and make the buyable form the buy menu, or the market.

My first reaction was like WTF is that? Oh dear. I won't buy it. Never ever. It looks so lame and cheap.

Have to disagree with King's statement in the video that there is "something for everyone" in this SP. Ehhhh, no, King, just no!

I have no use whatsoever for a dress clad with Katy Perry's name and vinyl records. a cherry topped cupcake arch, a freezer bunny fountain or a banana split sofa.

This is worse than I originally anticipated.

Idk, I'm KIND of interested in it, but purely for my Berry Sweet sims. I don't think I've seen much hype over Berry Sweets outside of the official forums, though.

I only just got Fast Lane and High-End Loft Stuff, and that was because they were in a two-for-one sale and they were both $20, sooo I got both for $20. I'm not going to fork over $30 for a stuff pack with 10 items or something, though.

Wow. EA has hit a new low.

I mean, shelling out $40 for furniture that LOOKS like food?

This is one SP I definitely will NOT be buying.

It's supposed to have a ton of new items, not a typical SP as far as the amount of content. Much of it is clothing but you also get the "candy land" items for build/buy.

Either way, I personally don't expect it to hit sales records so I'd be willing to bet it can be had for much less in a pretty short period of time.

Is EA just really lazy now, or insane? I really don't know why they are making this pack; I don't even think many will even buy it, will they? I know quite a lot of Simmers now are Teens, but I doubt this means all of them like Katy Perry -- I don't like her music, but she seems all right, I guess. I think they just chose one of the best Celebs they could find; not too expensive, decently popular with the teenage market. Either that, or the developers have lost it. I feel EA is extremely flat now; I think of certain people like this when I discover how greedy they are. No true friendliness they claim to have, no real care for its market, just the desire for money, and the fake smiling presenters they use to advertise the games on the internet -- It just seems like such a heartless company now, which depresses me.

Sorry, I had to rant there; they've been annoying me lately.

Money, and they're hoping lots of it.

Not to mention they have added Katy Perry themed crap to the store for a ridiculous amount of money.

EA's greed is really starting to make me sick!

They added it to the store too? Are they the same furniture or new ones? If it's new furniture, my jimmies will be extremely rustled.

I like Katy Perry but this SP is something I would just pass up... might be useful for a carnival or theme park or some kind of fluffy fairy tale thing, but I prefer to have fantasy themes to give hints of a Lovecraft dark side thing... <sarcasm>make the perfect forest home for my shiny-rainbow farting unicorn or cotton-candy retirement home for the useless imaginary friends, the bestest occults evar</sarcasm>

EA is pandering way too much to the wrong audience or mistaking that there's an actual market who wants a theme based of a popstar tour theme! The modding community can do that just fine.

I'm a fan of fantasies but this SP just makes me wish we got an SP called 'Sims 3: the-Normal-Ordinary-Mundane-Boring-things-you-see-everyday-so-you-can-recreate-those-things Stuff Pack.'

This.

If EA really wanted the money to flood in, why wouldn't they make EPs and SPs which have fairly universal appeal? Make an SP or store building set which offers all the rest of the build items to go with the one shuttered window they gave us in WA, for example. Give us real-life stuff. Give us shabby crap stuff for poor sims. Give us weather! Or universities! Or businesses! Give us a flipping carnival with all sorts of rides, new foods, occupations (carnival geek, etc), and activities. Give us a working airport, train station, or subway station.

There's all sorts of neat stuff they could be doing. Unfortunately, they waste their time on creating crap like this... Meh.

On the main page they're advertising the "Katy Perry-inspired mystery bag." Seems to be bonus items for buying points bundles.

I have to say that if I were them, I would not have tried to be all mysterious by presenting a silhouette of what I presume to be an ice cream cone potted tree/bush. Ice cream cones are rather phallic when silhouetted, you see.

Now that I think about it, the only use I'd honestly have for some of these objects is for props for Showtime shows/venues. However, for actual non-showtime related use, forget about it.

True, but there are plenty of Rock/Metal songs that would fit into the world of The Sims just fine though.

Sims everywhere agree: Everybody wants your name.

That's exactly what I meant. The music categories on sim stereos aren't about suiting the player's personal taste, but to have music that fits for all kinds of sims' stories and personalities. It's quite weird that we have all kinds of grungy clothes, mohawks and decorative items but those sims still have to settle for 'indie' category when it comes to music... :/ not to mention that the bands that these 'hardcore' sims play in can only play blues and jam without electric bass and guitar.
and it goes for other styles of music culture too... Like we have hip-hop style clothes and LN gave us hip-hop music, but sims can't actually do anything hip-hop stuff like rap or break dance.

I've seen pictures of what these objects actually look like now.

-You are right about the potted ice-cream cone bush. It's a pink bush with lots of little pink ice-creams sticking out of it.
-The 'throne' is a sliver/grey chair that looks quite regal but the legs appear to look like little mini ice-cream cones and there is an ice-cream cone motif on the top of the seat back.
-The wall decor item appears to be some mutated candy monster. It looks like a wrapped up hard-boiled sweet with the wrapper twists as hair (?) with a pair of googly eyes near the top! It's stripey too.

This is some sort of weird fetish I don't get. If you get the simport stuff unlocked, there are tons of candy and food themed props and furniture there. Then there's this "grab bag" of more food stuff and soon there will be an entire stuff pack full of it. I can't imagine that the EA mailbag has tons of letters that say "Thanks for making Showtime. My only complaint is that there just wasn't enough candy themed stuff in it. Please make more so I can recreate my dream Hansel and Gretel house."

I talked to an actual Katie Perry fan (neighbor's daughter) who didn't play the sims about this food thing. She got really defensive and said "She does lots of other stuff. It's not all food - and she just wore that bra one time." When I described all the stuff that EA had dedicated to Katie Perry she said "No. I love Katie, but I wouldn't want any of that stuff. That sounds stupid." I was also surprised to see a clip from the Katie Perry interview where she said that she was inspired by the pack and may consider having some of it made for her shows. So it's not even based on anything she has actually made or used. It's not really Katie's stuff at all. I kind of wonder if maybe there is some weirdo at EA who is using Katie Perry to live out his bizarro food fetish fantasies.

It's getting to the creepy stage, like the animal costumes that crop up all over the place. Is someone out there just drooling with excitement that they can soon make an entire candy themed world for their dog suited legacy to live in?

Ha. There is a wish in the game code that is something like 'get fatter' or 'reach maximum fatness'- it was near the wishes to 'get more muscular' and max out athletic ability. I've never seen those come up in the game, though.

Well, let's consider this. Katy.....whipped cream........banana. Now all we need to know is who was the driving force behind this Katy deal, and we'll know who the fetishist is and what they dream about. You're right, way too creepy for me.

I hate myself a little for saying this, but I may have to get this. I dislike almost all this stuff, but there's this one dress that looks just like Jessica Rabbit's dress. =/
