I am making a Sims 3 movie for the MTS Activity Month, but I am new to Sims 3 machinima. Do any of you experienced Sims 3 machinimators have any tips I could use to make my movie better? I've already written my script and all that; I just haven't made the actual movie yet.

I have made machinima in other games (namely EverQuest II), just not in Sims 3. I just feel that Sims 3 is a whole different ball game.

Can you be more specific about what you want? If you can post a link to your already created videos ,will be more easy to say what and how

Here are links to two of the videos I have made with other games:

Basically, this is my first Sims 3 machinima and I'm just looking for the basics. I've looked in this forum and had trouble finding them for Sims 3 (I've just found them for Sims 2), hence this post.

Also, please don't give me the movie achievement for this post. These aren't links to Sims movies in the spoiler tag; they're EQ2 and SWTOR movies. I want to earn that achievement fair and square.

Okay,1st go to my fresh Q&A ,this will give you some ideas about how to produce good quality HD videos http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=493571
About how to make everything good in game
F10 Hide/Show UI
Tab Enable movie making mode
Q / E Lower/raise camera height
Shift + A / Shift + D Roll camera counterclockwise/clockwise
Shift + S Level out the camera roll
Z / X Adjust focal length

Also enter Shift +Ctrl+C and write slowmotionviz (1-8) 8 will be max slowmotion

testingcheatsenabled true (enter) hideheadlineeffects on/off (enter) for hiding everything what above sims heads but im fine without this

Another few tips for people who might stumble on this thread later!

Cheat: hideHeadlineEffects on - this cheat will remove the plumbob and speech bubbles etc.
maptags off - this will turn off the map tags with the sims faces or building pictures on them.
Finally hide the UI with F10 as was mentioned previously.

Sims 3 even on a good pc will sometimes lag or crash as is the same with most video games. Just save regularly and when your switching between ingame and out, make sure to do practise runs with your camera shots before recording, this generally gives your PC time to get a smoother hook on what your going to do as it loads it into the RAM.

Final note, Fraps is awesome, yes you need a lot of space for it but its good quality and you can delete all footage later. Important: MAKE SURE YOU PRESS STOP RECORD AFTER YOU FINISH, BEFORE YOU SWITCH WINDOW. Depending on your Operating System this will crash your game so you need to stop recording first.

Another note on Fraps is that you can run in half size and its fine for youtube so long as you don't want people to view it fullscreen, and you don't need lossless RGB capture either it doesn't make that much of a difference apart from occasionally in dark scenes. You will still have crisp HD footage with these settings.

Just a few little things i've learnt and have helped my movie making attempts.

Enjoy!
