I don't know how else to explain it. I got some merged packages, no idea how much space my computer had then, ran rigfix, I came back and got the out of memory error from TSR rigfix, I then freed up 85gb on my computer then ran rig fix again saw less memory thought ok maybe I did it wrong then freed up an extra 30 gb on my computer. Now I have 25gbs left...rigfix still hasn't been successful and I have no idea what to do out of desperation I ran the game to see if the packs were there any they were. But now my computer's memory is in the red sigh*
I'm at my wits end searching google and forums, someone help me please.
It's an HP DV6 series, 4gb ram and 285gb hard drive with windows 7 64 bit
hp dv6000 processor intel core 2 duo t6600 2.20 ghz
. I have all sims 3 expansions except showtime and only high end loft stuff.

The out of memory error refers to your RAM, not your hard drive space. To get around that error, I would suggest rigfixing your CC in batches, rather than doing everything all at once.

I dunno what's eating your hard drive space, but it's not rigfix - unless you have ridiculous amounts of CC that's being backed up during the rigfix process.

so the CC is backed up during the rigfix process where would rigfix store the backups?

and why would the out of memory error refer to my ram? nothing goes wrong when I;m playing it just happened when I was running the rig fix..(just trying to learn so I won't be so confused)

As to the first question, I've no idea - have a look at TSR's documentation (if they bothered to write any).


For the second, bad coding. All programs can suffer from memory overflows - that's one of the primary causes of TS3 crashing to the desktop with no error message. However, programs which are coded to be particularly inefficient are more prone to them, and, um, well, TSR wrote it. The more you try to force a program to do at once - e.g. the more files you try to fix at once - the more likely it is to end up needing more RAM than you have, and if that happens, it'll crash.

sigh* thanks I'll be awaiting your reply I just did a complete system recovery a few months ago really don't want to try again

I figured it out....hours later my local/temp/app data folder was holding all of the tsr stuff that got backed up or whatever so I just got myself 140gbs thanks for the motivation hope others find the thread useful
