I keep receiving the error message that the website is unreachable. This only happens when I try to look at a download page. I can access most forums and threads, the home page, and the help pages, but the downloads are being weird. I can still access the download search and even see the thumbnails of downloads but when I click on the images I get the unreachable message. Can anyone help? or at least tell me what is going on?

What exactly does the error say?

Been having the same problem lately too it only started happening in the last week...well for me at least. Basically every so often when I try to brin MTS Firefox immediately returns its standard "Problem loading page....Website is unreachable" press button below to try again. Hitting "try again" usually gets the page to finally load albeit after 2-3 attempts

That sounds like you have a slow connection, do you ever get a "Connection timed out" message?

I can tell you that they aren't time outs. The page I get thrown at me when this hiccups is the basic "couldn't connect to the server modthesims.info" the kind you'd get if the site were genuinely down. Its an instant failure to connect never any delay in communication. The problem goes away after I hit refresh a couple times so it hasn't been that big of an issue I prolly wouldn't even have bothered say anything had I not happened across this thread and saw it was actually recent

As luck would have it I got one of these little failures a moment ago so i grabbed a screen shot of it and attached it here.

I also just noticed that the OP mentions the problem is mainly in accessing the downloads section. I also just realized that my MTS2 bookmark leads directly to the downloads section and the OP of the thread did mention his issues were also with loading the downloads section. That said it this place is a pretty high traffic site so the problem could just be congestion or something like that

"Can't find the server at..." sounds to me like a DNS issue, which is unrelated to the server itself. What happens if you use, say, nene.modthesims.info (or just modthesims.info)? Does that improve things?

Tumblr - Yes, I have a blog. :)

<Corsix> Why 'mod the sims 2' when you can mod 'mod the sims 2'?

I agree it seems to be a DNS error using sub domains like nene or leaving out the WWW don't seems to make a difference tho honestly its kind of hard to be certain about since the issue itself is so random. I mean I can go several days without it happening and then have a day where it happens repeatedly. I did just have a thought tho... I have Adblock plus for firefox installed do you think that it could be happening because the add on is reacting to "pop over" style ads used on MTS? I mean I know how the blocker handles traditional new window type ads but I'm not sure how it handles any other type. Only real snag in the theory is that I if it does block them it doesn't do it all the time which is odd.

Anway I've disabled adblock for modthesims.info as a whole so I'll report back in a day or 2 to see if that has any effect

Don't block ads for sites you care about. If they are running ads, they really need the money generated when you see the ad.

(And sometimes they even have an ad worth clicking.)

I am Ghost. My husband (who made the account because I was too shy) is sidneydoj. I post, he downloads, and I wanted to keep my post count.

It's nothing to do with the ad popup - thats just a standard colorbox modal (the same as you see when you expand an image). It's probably related to DNS/CDN setup.

FYI ghost it actually wasn't even blocking the ads here to begin with which was why I never bothered to put it ton the list of AB+ exceptions so lol

Anyways TBH I'm past worrying about it cuz as I said before it's not really undermining my ability to use the site since a simple refresh is usually enough to remedy the problem and I can live with that. That said thanks for taking the time to try to help me figure this out you can get back to you know...running the site and stuff lol
