Give them a business to take care of or a pet.

I always play the same things but I never get bored of them. You either need some drama in your game or you need to get a little too attached to your Sims so you can project things into their daily actions.

For example normally I hate playing elders but in my current 'hood I am keeping them to live with their children and grandchildren in one house. Combined with the triplets & quads hack (I got quads in a family just now) this is really handy.

However my artistic elder couple decided to move out of the cramped house, bought a trailer and has a party or date every day :D

In this hood my Sims also have to craft/write/plant/paint in order to survive or they own businesses. This is very interesting too.

Maybe it's time to work on some new goals: take a vacation, befriend all the neighbors, befriend all the Sims that walk by and see how much free stuff you can get from each one, become good friends with the inlaws on both sides, open a business, impart knowledge to younger generation, get the wishing well reward from the garden club, get the kids into private school, earn extra money to buy a bigger house or a vacation home, collect insects, use those influence points you've been building up, play without cheats or without aspiration rewards, etc....

I have the cutest couple in Simland. I downloaded someone's extraction of the tutorial couple and put them in a new neighborhood with replicas of the tutorial houses found on this site. They're really sweet and so deeply in love with each other. They don't have a baby yet, but they plan to throw lots of parties and enjoy all the Sim moments they can together in their lives.

Don't play them exclusively. Play an entire neighborhood and do something different with each family, and set your play routine up - whether rotation or flitting from house to house as you feel like it - so that each session with each family is a tiny bit shorter than what you think of as a satisfactory play interval. If you quit each family before you're bored, you will never become bored with that family! And if it takes you a little while - my rotations take about a month - to get back to it, by the time you do you'll be actively missing them and looking forward to spending time with them.

Also, next time don't be in such a hurry to max all their skills and things. Plan ahead and leave them something to do when they're older.

All you can do is the best you can do.

Well, I once had this couple, the Hsu's, Jihoon and Christa. Christa was an elder while Jihoon is an adult. All families in my neighborhood need to have atleast one child, howevfer, since Christa was an elder, she couldn't have any, but since alien pregnancy is available and an adult male is present, an abduction had to take place. Luckily, both were knowledge sims, so no fear of getting abducted. They had a girl, Celeste. She was taught to talk, sing and do her homework by her stepmother, Christa. Now Christa is no more, so it is only her and her father at home.

The 3 main points here are:

1-Adult/Elder couple
2- Death
3- Alien baby

Wow! I just noticed that this happened in just one house!

Make them go bankrupt and have to move into a 1 bedroom trailer.
Have the sloppy brother whose just been released from prison move onto their sofa.
Turn them into kidnappers and have them put unsuspecting passers-by into their basement dungeon.
Make them have more kids than they could possibly care for and perhaps give them a live-in nanny.
Turn the whole family into careless nudists.

All the couples in my game live relatively uneventful lives, but occasionally a sim will get electrocuted.

Try a challenge with your families. Do something that you don't normally do. Give them a storyline and run with it. Maybe Sim A wants another baby, but Sim B does not or Sim B is tired of family life and wants to go out a bit maybe with a couple guy friends etc. There's endless possibilities. Look in the challenge section. I'm sure you can find something that'll give them drama. There's also ACR if you like Hacks/Mods.

I personally like younger couples because there's a lot you can do with them. With single sims I feel like the focus is more on fooling around or searching for the one. With couples it's no longer about finding another and more about starting their lives up together:
Start a new home or family business and grow it from tiny one room house up to nice mansion/corporation.
Take them on honeymoons and extravagant vacations.
Make a family farm.
Raise a bunch of kids and make all of the children very different in personality.
Start a family band.

Of course, you can do most of these with single sims too, but I feel like you get a different effect with single sims when compared to families.

There's enough game play options with the other expansion packs that you could easily find some new skills or goals to explore.

Frankly, I think the suggestions to create a story line and learn more about the personalities of your Sims were among the best. It could change the way you play. And Peni's suggestion made a ton of sense: Don't play one family exclusively; move around. When I get bored with one set of people, I often go to another neighborhood to play. After a while I'll wonder how life is for the family I nurtured before and return to them.

If you are finding married life boring, then perhaps you don't like it. Maybe you'd like more drama, so feel free to create it. It doesn't have to be about breaking a family up either, it could be financial, medical, or mysterious. You could create any number of a million and one themes to play.

There are soo many options to do with families. Now most of mine are married and have children ... but all the families are different. They all start off with the 20K and I build or modify a house according to that budget ... no money cheats. I tell you if thats not a challenge I dont know what it. If they want something fixed often they have to try to fix it themselves ... no repairman. If they get electrocuted -- thats a chance. Same thing with maids and nannies, etc ... if they can't afford them, they cannot have them. So in my game skill building and jobs are very important but my Sims also get taken to downtown and on outings and throw parties to meet new people and try new things. Some families have money like the Goths and some are still struggling (like Brandy Reeves ... formerly Broke) ... I think its more fun that way, much like real life you can only have what you can afford.

Natural disaster. Their house has been flattened by a freak storm and the insurance company won't pay out. Oh, and some idiot hit the wrong button at the bank and now they have no money. GO!

Failing, My sim randomly started trying to Make out with a woman while his Fiance and him were going to get a coffee

Anyone can build a house on Sims, but only those that believe, can be the best.

Do they have friends, relatives, etc? Invite them over and watch the chaos unfold! Large groups of sims rarely fail to amuse, especially if there's a big mix of personalities. (Heck, does either one know their campus cow? Invite the cow. That'll shake up the house!)

For me the answer was, as Penny already suggested, playing the whole hood and doing so in a way that allows you to experience the full extent of the EPs you own.
When you play an entire hood like this, it becomes a community that has multitude of needs that have to be met, and suddenly your families have duties, responsibilities and lives that can get overwhelming, fascinating, beautiful, tragic, etc. - never boring, at least not to me, or to be fair, to many of us here that are still, to this day, mesmerized by these worlds we can - and do - create. I've been playing this game since the first day it got out and I'm still around, still amused. And it is because, once upon a time, I've found out about this gameplay style.
Each Sim has her/his place in a town like this - an essential part s/he plays upon which other Sims' lives may depend. So my suggestion would be: build your Sims a community, give them a place in the world. Give them a world to inhabit, make them count toward something greater than themselves. Just like people, Sims too need a community to thrive. It gave me a great pleasure to first feel it - this communal history and life emerging out of a game. This game is a wonderful medium for creation of virtual realities. Think what kind of a community would make you happy and build it for and around your Sims. Trust me, instead of trying to kill time in game, soon enough you'll be needing more of it to be able to do everything there is to do and then some more.

In my new neighborhood there are only three couples living together. One of them are elders already.

The first couple is very rich and their life is spicy enough because they can afford anything and everything. They're having parties every second day and seem to enjoy the drama that comes with them. Their two children (one teen, one child) are happy campers because when Mommy and Daddy are busy partying there's the robot butler (a servo) to play with and talk to.

The second couple lives together with their two adult daughters and three grandchildren. The fathers of these grandchildren are vampires and live in a crypt at the cemetary. Having a house full of people helps them to never get bored (or boring for me ) I also like the other two couples not living together. They actively have to make time for dating and all this so it's never just routine.

The third couple are scientists. They're spending their days building robots and experimenting with everything the game gives. Just recently they had a baby...but only the husband seems interested in little Damon. Mommy couldn't care less about him. Most likely the little boy will have a horrible childhood. Second likely he'll be taken to the orphanage and least likely his parents will file a divorce and dad gains full custody. We'll see.

To me it's never boring because they all lead so very different lives. The vampires have girlfriends, too, that are both pregnant at the moment but have no intent to ever live with them...

I don't know, if you think typical couple's life is boring to you...just do it differently?

DIVORCE. And not just for cheating. I had a couple divorce because she felt he was too close to his family. He'd let relatives move into the apartment in hard times. Also, my game glitched and "family kiss" sparked jealousy in the spouse. But I love using game glitches so I didn't have them make up, I just let that be the final straw. Divorce. Also murder can spice things up. A good leaf-burning catastrophe because hubby spiked the leaf pile with gasoline, that sort of thing. I found some intoxicating beer that I downloaded and I've got another wife who is an alcoholic and does bad things like try to kiss the wrong person or start a brawl with her best friend. It's made the marriage spicy.

Um - by scratch you mean "in a fresh neighborhood not corrupted by deleting families," right?

Right?

'Cause we'd feel awful if we'd accidentally led you on to destroy your neighborhood.

All you can do is the best you can do.

Hi Miss.Pink,

deleting Sims corrupts your neighbourhood and renders it unplayable in the long run. And vampires' needs never go down if you play them as intended: At night. They can't go outside during the day because the sun burns them...so they are creatures of the night!

Maybe instead of trying to max their skills you should try to fulfill their wishes and take them out for activities on community lots.

They are not pre-made sims so i thought it would be safe deleting a family from cas that i made anytime and i saw few people doing that if they are bored because i cant keep them in the game, and i just found out its not safe god im crashed i hope my game don't get buggy or something.
btw: what is the safest way to delete sims?.
