Just 10 mb for upload??? #1 |
| FurDesign |
I saw that rar or zip files can only be 10 mb, i think this is very less since i build an amazing house that is not even so big and with not so much details as i saw from other on this website. And my house is 32 mb.. excuse me but how is it possible to upload wonderfull houses with an ammount of details if u can only upload just 10 mb:S if im packing it in in winrar, its making 18 mb, so this is still too much. How can i make it smaller and how does everyone else it? Thanks |

If you have a house that is 32MB, then it is packed with cc. You need to remove the cc. |

Some of that CC is almost certainly not stuff you've actually used on the lot - so it's even more important to remove the extra junk before uploading.

well honestly i didnt use so much CC. Whiterider probably remembers my other thread that i have problems with glinches on all my downloaded stuff cause of the Pets expantion/update. Hmm also if im deleting that CC, the house looks less interesting than before unfortunatly. And i saw many houses here with lots of downloaded stuff in it and much bigger, i just dont seem to understand how they can be 10 mb. I think ill start a blog or own website to upload it, cause its just a waist if im deleting everything from the house just to upload it here. Also it requires too much effort on MTS to simply share your creations.. that what I think. Love the site though, but i wish it was easier. thanks anyway!! |

You don't need to remove CC from the house - just from the sims2pack file. I don't remember your previous thread, but assuming you're on Windows, you'll just need to open the file with the Sims2pack Clean Installer, untick all the stuff that's included that either isn't used in the house or can't be shared with lots, then Save As. It's explained in more detail in the Creator Guidelines, if that's helpful. You can, of course, upload the lot somewhere else. But anyone who downloads it will not only get the lot and the CC used in the lot, but a load of extra, unused random stuff which the game shoved in the sims2pack for no particular reason. Since the downloader doesn't know which CC items are actually used in the lot, they have to either install the whole lot including all the junk, or remove all the CC and just get the lot with EA furnishings. Remember that the unused files can be pretty much anything in your Downloads folder. It's a bit of a pain, but it's better to put some time into cleaning up your file, rather than taking the risk of, at best, spamming people's download folder with stuff they don't want, and at worse screwing up their game.

7Z files can also compress better than RAR; you might want to try 7Zip. |

If you're using Sims 3, you can use CUSTARD (link is in the Creator Guidelines) for the same functions as the Clean Installer performs for Sims 2 lots. |
