I'm getting seriously bored of The Sims 3. I went through a phase like this with The Sims 2 but luckily that was 4 months before the release of Sims 3. God knows when/if Sims 4 will be released. I miss playing the game for hours at a time without being bored. What do you guys do once it starts getting boring? |

Well, I usually start going through a serious building phase. I grab a favorite world and start bulldozing and constructing new houses. I just started doing that following a Victorian theme and I am changing every house. Then when I get tire of building I go back to my saved game as normal. |

I usually play through adventures, or level my collecting skill. I really love exploring the neighborhoods and vacation worlds and finding what kind of neat things I can pick up. It works hand in hand with fishing and gardening too. |

I pick something off my todo list and update one of my mods. Though I will admit that is not something most users can do on a whim.

I pick a modding project too ambitious for my skills. That always works for me. |

I mostly just make worlds, so if I get bored with that I fish for compliments on my worlds on the sims forums to inspire me to do more. Sometimes I play the actual game too, but not much xD |

I build until I'm tired of that. Find a world with just empty lots and go for city planning or organize my cc collection. |

Since I am really bad at building I usually just start a new family in a world that I haven't ever played or haven't played in a long time, and like mentioned already I send my sim exploring to see what new things I can find. I also get my sim to learn new skills I've never bothered with before. I actually just had my sim master the mixology skill and learned I really like it. I enjoy my sim being able to learn how to make all the drinks the clubs and lounges offer. |

I check out the CC on this site and on others to get inspired by a lot or world or mod or clothing. That usually gets me imaginative with sims and making stories for them to play out. If my boredom is extreme, I return to TS2 or play GTA IV. |

I just take a break and do other things with my time until I get an urge to play again. Yes, I'm boring. :p |

I usually make a new family, give almost everyone the jobs from Ambitions, make a teen the most flirtatious and commitment-phobic teen around, give them parents with interesting traits and an uncle with traits opposite of their parents, and then add on 4+ babies and toddlers to make their lives stressful. |

Haha, I once had a couple have like...10-12 kids. I nearly went mad. It was in a condo in Bridgeport and I ened up having to put one of the dressers out on the deck to make room for the cribs. Now I literally fear my sims having children.

I should try that sometime. I've managed to create homes with enough room for eight with NICE bedrooms on a 10x10 lot... and that was before bunk beds. I'm sure that I could make 12 kids workable on a teeny tiny lot. *rubs hands together and cackles evilly* |

Funny, this same problem just happened to me today after my third crash on a new user profile. I literally started thinking of the old music from TS2 and installed all the games again. Played and then sadly saw the reason I switched... I love TS2 but the open world in TS3 is so much more interesting.... So yes, switching does it good for me...because then you want to play the other one. But they both have their headaches....boredom included... |

I am bored with the game, too. Pets held my interest for about a month. Showtime, about a week. I suspect the supernatural stuff will keep me interested for about a day. So, I have been playing another game. Maybe, someday, EA will get around to making interesting supplements with enough play value to hold my interest until the next supplement comes out. But that does not appear to be in the cards. |

I discover something to fix in the game like today. It was so bad I made screen shots and a story. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/...=3&l=bfc516cf7c |

Mods help the game stay interesting. These days a new mod is more effective than a new EP in extending my interest in Simming. Virtual Artisan's Downtown Roles mod started a teen mom stripper storyline that I played out for weeks. Also Story Progression sometimes sets up really interesting game scenarios that keep me interested. Like I have a lot of teens in my game now due to a baby boom so there is a lot of teen drama going on. I have one couple that SP keeps breaking up and then putting back together and normally I wouldn't have cared about that but now I want to play out their volatile romance. I have another that SP put together as romantic interests but they are sort of cousins (his stepfather is her uncle but they share the same last name) so that could be interesting as well. In between my regular gameplay, I also switch to Lucky Palms which I am setting up as a travel destination. I got bored with the Singing career after a day of playing as it was very repetitive and unimaginative so I just used Master Controller to move my Sim from Level 6 to Level 10 and set up steady gigs for her at big venue. I have a lounge singer and a Derren Brown-like magician, playing at the casino, a Sim who I gave top DJing skills who hangs around Diamondbacks and turned the abandoned motel into a base camp. I'm currently looking for glitzy apartment to download that I can turn into a "hotel" with a rooftop bar and swimming pool. |
