I think the wand has to be added with a script. A script mod to add interaction with an object, wand being the object here and use the animation you made.

I'll first try adding an interaction in my vampire mod. Than I'll try adding for child witches. First try conjure Apple than wand animations. Stretched animations at first than converted ones.

That sounds reasonable. You have the apple animation to work with already, and then stretching is fine to get it to work. Converted animations can be added later.

Nope, not at all. Sorry can't help you there. Maybe the modder Greenplumbbob knows something about it. Or Skydome. : )

I don't know if comparing the animations from casting a spell using a wand and casting a spell with the Magic Hands LTR would be very useful, but have you tried that?

There are a bunch of animation files for the wand. They're marked _wand at the end. I assume this means that they must be animated, and there must be a rig to animate. I have been poking through tutorials about this, but nothing I've tried so far has worked.

I think magic hands are considered to be a type of wand by the game. In the game code I saw something like wand type magic hands or something like that.
We just need one animation conjure Apple to start with. It's the core block which is the main issue here. If the core gets removed than we can make animations anytime and even add our own custom animations.
I think we should just do conjure Apple, play with magic, good luck charm and conversion to start with. We can do the rest when core lock is removed.

I don't know why there'd be a wand for magic hands. The animations look complete with just the sim. But there are MANY things I don't understand.

If we can remove the core block, we ought to just be able to enable the interactions for child with an ITUN or using Retuner. Chain's willing to work on it, but I didn't want to waste his time unless we were ready to go. There are also some tutorials on core modding here. It would be nice to be able to produce a standalone mod that wasn't dependent on anything in the NRaas suite, though the overlap between folks who would want this mod and folks who already run the Nraas suite is enormous.

I'll pop over to NRaas and make a new thread, telling chain we're ready to move forward with apple conjuring.

I'm pretty sure it's possible to do it without core modding as well but it would require a different approach that I have discussed before in that we create a script mod to create a new skill for kids called kid magic which will have skills upto level 3 like dancing skill. And we add our interactions completely separately like this mod http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=543219. We'll use the converted animations but a completely new type of interaction. The game will not treat it as an occult interaction so the core block won't activate. It'll be like any other interaction adder mod with a custom animation. There are mods that add a high five interaction or a bowing interaction so ours would be just like that, it'll be a normal interaction presented as magic so players will see it as magic. However if we do it this way we'll have to recreate the rest of the code as well like where the sparkles appear or where the Apple appears etc. But recreating it won't be too difficult cause the code for the original spells are already there so we'll use those same codes. However breaking the core lock will make it a much easier process as we won't have to do all of that. We can always make two versions tho, one that depends on Nraas hybrid and one that uses high amount of scripting.

That sounds like a crazy amount of work to me, but I'm happy to hand you animations if you want to do that.

Then again, it sounds like it would be a decent amount of work for Chain too.

Something odd....I reported it at NRAAS, but I'm also mentioning it here.
I left a potion out that turns the drinker into a werewolf. A child drank it. And became a werewolf.

I'm not sure why that's odd? Children can be occult. Child witches just can't use their powers.

Yes it'll be a lot of work but I'll have a lot of free time once my exams are done and I want to spend that time productively, making mods is very productive imo and it improves my coding skills. It'll be great if you can share your animations thank you

When Chain said there was a core block I obviously misunderstood. I thought he meant that children who didn't have an occult status were blocked from getting one.

OK, now that I can get into JAZZ scripts, I see that a lot of props have separate animation files. Im not sure what they're for exactly. I'm going to have to read the tutorials on JAZZ scripts with props a lot more carefully. There's a lot there, so I've mostly just scanned so far.

Hey guys Chain has done it, he created an Nraas hybrid version to allow child witch spell tuning. Test it out if you get the time ok?

I was watching the thread and saw his notification! I was out all day yesterday, but I hope to be able to test it today. I can test with Conjure Apple and I *think* I can give a kid the happiness reward of magic hands and test with the animations I already have.

His first pass at removing the core lock looks really good. I've had a breakthrough with JAZZ but still have more to learn about props (the apple in Conjure Apple and the wand).

Sofmc9, do you have animations converted? Which ones? I think I mentioned that I did the Magic Hands (no wand) animations, but I got bogged down in the wand animations. I may be overthinking things. I'm probably overthinking things.

LOL. OK. So we're on the same page.

The apple prop does not appear. I'm still trying to figure out what I need to do to produce it. I think it's a JAZZ thing. I just haven't had a bunch of time to experiment.

If I'm lucky, Chain will drop a few more hints. I may send a note to Greenplumbbob, since she's been so helpful here.

Wow pretty cool. That's very good progress. BTW are children able to eat apples in general? Like can they use eat interaction in the apple?
I think the apple prop has to be added similar to Wand I think.

OK, additional testing of Chain's mod removing the core block didn't go so well. I can only get the Play with Magic option if I give my test child the Magic Hands lifetime reward, which I did first because I had those animations converted. But then it doesn't actually USE my animations for the magic hands spellcasting. The child sim still stretches.

I went ahead and converted the animations for normal low skill spellcasting this afternoon and loaded them into my game. But then I discovered that I can't get the Play with Magic option unless I give the kid Magic Hands.
