Default Sick of EA monopolizing the life simulator genre? Give La Vida your feedback!
In case you haven't been browsing the TS3 section, it looks like someone is working on a life simulator that used to be on Kickstarter. Now he's just doing it as a hobby with no set deadline. It does look promising, so check it out and give him your feedback.

This time though I'm only going to be doing it in my spare time and I have no goals to do a Kickstarter so there is no rush to get things off the ground this time. I'm simply going to go at my own pace and all I'm really here on this forum for is to ask for your input in making the game something that you'd like to play

I'll be taking a few days to re-read this thread and gather the comments and ideas already on here but feel free to add any thoughts or ideas you might have and I'll do my best to include them if the seem sensible and add to the enjoyment.

Going forward I'm not going to make a separate forum but you are welcome to come over to our facebook page (http://fb.me/lavidagame) were I'll be posting weekly videos to show progress.

There are already a few on there to show the current state of the game.

Let me know your thougths!

Mike

And no, Shigemi. This is not a joke.

Maybe you need to invest in a better phone instead of buying the CEO of EA a yacht.

I did try to load a smaller version. I tried three different smaller versions and they didn't work with the image tags.

When you have a big one, you don't need a smaller one.

At least it wasn't "too hard and too expensive."

Works nicely on my phone. He should learn how to edit movies though. How annoying looking at that woman when I'm suppose to look at some lightfittings.

If he's going to do this after work, the games progress might have troubles keeping up with the industry progress.

Probably not worth my time.

That's actually a great progress for a hobby

I want to se better made animations, but for an early, early alpha hobby game it looks very promising actually. Some work on the UI, textures, people models and animations, and the game would look very appealing graphicaly. Now, he will need to introduce interesting and different mechanics to Sims in order to really blow me out of water.

PS: I'm not a fan of need dynamics overhead indicator

Yeah, pretty decent progress for a hobby project. I remember when the project was originally posted, and it looks a lot better than it then.

One of the things that gets me immediately, however, is view. Something just seems off, and I can't quite put my finger on it. I'm not quite sure if the camera has weird perspective, if the field-of-view is not optimal, or what, but it doesn't seem right. Everything has a short and stubby kind of feel from it, at least from the video.

As mixa97sr mentioned, the dynamic indicators are not very appealing. A simple indicator to indicate the active person would be a better solution. Something iconic, like the plumbob but not exactly, would be ideal, but a simple placeholder would suffice for now until the art of the game needs to be a serious consideration.

Well yeah but those details are easy to polish later. What I am more concerned about is finding out whether he intends it to be a serious people sim or a quirky weirder stories game.

Well fow is perspective, and yeah, it's too big too look either appealing or functional. I can see some hardships while building with camera like that. I hope the developer sees the feedback here, so he can improve it.

Ofcourse, I don't expect anything from this project, but it sure is nice to see that someone is having enough interest to start making a people simulator game.

For the simulator I am developing I am using simple limbless peg people and concentrating on the psychology and physiology. If he doesn't have plans for similar depth I'd love to see what might happen with his animations and my behaviour driver combined.

Any competition is a good thing. I wish that developer well and hope he can make something he's proud of.

Hi All!

I'm the personage that's building La Vida.

So far I get the following points from you guys:

1) Drop the overhead meter!
2) Sort out the FOV weirdness and make it look like a normal aspect ratio

Did I miss anything?

Nice to meet you all!

Mike
