Floor Plans
I thought I'd create a thread for house plans. I don't have much imagination when it comes to building. I suggest you try building some of the smaller, easier ones. Here are some floor plan websites:

http://www.coolhouseplans.com/

http://www.globalhouseplans.com/

http://www.houseplanguys.com/

By the way, how do you measure the size in real life house plans to fit for the sims?

Please suggest any house plan websites you like.

My god that's a huge house! I can't imagine trying to figure out the complexities of the plan to even attempt to built that sucker. :insane:

Oh and, abel1980 I wasn't familiar with the site you posted. Thanks. I'm always on the hunt for other good home plan sites.

In the game one tile is about three feet. So, a 12' by 15' room would be 4 by 5 tiles. Odd sized rooms (say 11' 3" by 7' 8') I round up or down to the nearest 3 feet (so that room would be 12' by 6' or 4 by 2 tiles). Hope this helps.

Thanks! I'll try that measurement. The way I would do it is about half the size of the room on the plan. For example: the size on the plan is 12 x 12, then in the Sims I would do 6 x 6.

I also use 'clues' such as the doors (and tubs, counters, etc if they're included) to determine the appropriate scale. And of course make adjustments as necessary due to build mode limitations.

hey everyone! when i build my houses, i first find a plan i like, plot it out on graph paper, and then proceed to make it in the sims. that way, you can use the grids on the graph paper to see how it will fit into the game. the only trouble i have come across is when there are odd shaped rooms where making it scale would require usng a half of a block, but i just extend it and hope it works. I'd show you some real houses and my renditions, but my computer's retarded and wont let me upload the pics, plus i cant find them when i take them in the sims.

I also come across this problem however it can be overcome by thinking: what space i need in the room and what space is practical when considering the sizes or furniture.
More or less its the outside which is important initially and the space can be divided up inside, however, when its all about space then its the other way around. If you need the screenshots then go to the storytelling folder and they should be there if not then go to the neighbourhood file and then the number of the lot the house is in.

I read all the comments you leave, even if they are made a year later, thank you all:)

Any lot building requests are considered, just pm me:)

i usually print out the plan and then take a ruler
and usually a half of a cenimeter is equal to one box/space in game

0.5cm=1 space
1cm=2 spaces
1.5cm=3 spaces
2cm=4 spaces
etc.

except when i get to a garage, i just mess around with that to get it right, and also sometimes it doesn't measure out right, so i just round the number.

i'm not shure is that will answer your question, but it's helpful!
