This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default Blank Error Message on Startup?
I've been trying to load the game for the past two days, but all I get in response is a popup titled 'The Sims 2' with a red 'x' with no message attached and no options other than to click okay.

Nothing has changed since the day before when the game was working perfectly except for the fact that it has been shut down and rebooted since then. I've had someone tell me that it could be a problem with my computer being unable to read the disk, but I'd like a second opinion.

I'm working with all EPs up to FT and all SPs up to TSS on a Vista and the computer is more than capable of playing the games that are installed; after all, it's been working fine before yesterday.

On another note - a few years ago I had an issue like this one where, just after I installed University, I got a popup message like this one. However, I had just received OFB and Pets on the same day, and being the weirdo I was just disregarded the error and - voila! - as soon as I installed OFB the game worked perfectly. I was wondering whether, since I am just about to go out and purchase AL and a couple stuff packs I'm missing, installing those could fix my problem.

Thanks!
xoxo saizine

In order to better solve your problem, please go through the following as listed below:
  • General - Do the Game Problem FAQ
You appear to have not gone through our main Game Help:Game Problemwiki FAQ. Please go through and do the steps on this FAQ, including any others that it links to (for example the Game Help:Game Problem-Problem Custom Contentwiki FAQ).

Usually, in the vast majority of cases, actually going through and doing the steps (doing, not just reading) fixes issues - sometimes you may be asked to remove custom content, or to patch - please rest assured that all of our FAQs have been tested by our staff and volunteers and we wouldn't suggest you do something unless it's been known to fix particular issues.

On occasion you might be asked to do a long FAQ - please make sure you do all the steps and don't just skip over them. You'll often find that these long FAQs have all the details you need. If nothing in the above FAQs fixes your problem you may post again detailing exactly which you have done and which steps failed.
