This user has the following games installed:

Sims 3
Default Game won't load after installing custom content
Hey everyone!
I've downloaded lots of custom content off mts and other sites and am VERY sure that I've followed every single instruction for the installation of content.
My Resource.cfg is in my root folder, and the Mods->Package folder is in the root folder as well. However, having installed the content my game refuses to run and always shuts off by itself during the loading page.

It's soooo very frustrating and when I take out the Resource.cfg file and Mods folder the game is working fine again.

Does anyone have a clue to whats happening?
I'm dying to play the game with those pretty custom content.

In order to better solve your problem, please go through the following as listed below:
  • Sims 3 - Loading Crashes
If your game is crashing on load, with or without an error message, or the game starts up then just disappears, then you have a loading crash.

Please see the following FAQ and go through the steps listed in order to try fixing your game: Game_Help:Sims_3_Loading_Crasheswiki.
You probably downloaded something that isn't compatible with your game. See FAQ for how to find it and get rid of it.

On occasion you might be asked to do a long FAQ - please make sure you do all the steps and don't just skip over them. You'll often find that these long FAQs have all the details you need. If nothing in the above FAQs fixes your problem you may post again detailing exactly which you have done and which steps failed.

Hi, I've been having the same issues as HappyBucket, and I've also gone through all the steps for Sims 3 Loading Crashes with no luck. Running on iMac, with everything updated. Please help!!

With "same issues" do you mean that it's custom content that makes it crash for you? Or just in general, crashing on load even without CC?

If it's the latter: what game are you running exactly? When was the last time it worked – did you install a patch in the meantime; if so, which one?

Same issues as in I've put the resource.cfg and mods/packages in the correct place, and it shuts off during the loading page. However, when I remove the resource.cfg and mods folder my game STILL crashes upon loading. (It never crashed upon loading before I replaced the resource file, which was a few days ago)

I'm running the regular Sims 3 for mac and the launcher says everything is up to date, so I'm assuming it's patched. I've also installed the same copy of the sims 3 on my macbook pro without mods, and with the original resource.cfg file and it runs fine, but no cc on that whatsoever. So it's definitely a mystery to me. Thanks for replying so quickly btw =)

Okay so after hours of trying to avoid reinstalling, I figured out what my problem was. Apparently I moved the resource.cfg into the bin and not the root folder, which replaced the original file, and when I moved the resource.cfg into it's correct place (the root folder) there was no resource file in the bin. I'm not sure if it needs two of them or not to run, but the original one is where the game put it and the downloaded one is in the root folder and all of my mods show up now. I hope this helps other people as well because I was stuck for HOURS on this lol, thanks for all of your help plasticbox. =)
