Moved to Help from Discussion

Game Help:Installing TS3 Simswiki

Please describe exactly what you are attempting, and the steps you have taken. By "premade Sims," you mean that you have downloaded custom Sims from this or another site? Are the files you are placing in the SavedSims folder .sim files (not rars or zips or Sims3Packs)?

Are you looking in the correct gender and age group in CAS? Have you tried toggling the custom content icon in the CAS sim bin?

I followed every normal step according to http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php...ng%20TS3%20Sims
But they dont appear in the bin where you can choose "premade sims" when 'creating a new sim'
..
downloaded custom sims (yes several sims are from this site)
unpacked them
moved the .sim files to the SavedSims folder
then play the game.. but none of the sims appear in the 'bin'

I dont know anything about toggling custom content in sims 3

another thing
I donwloaded a premade sims PACKfile (the name of the sim is adem tyler, which can be found on this site)
that one I moved to the 'downloads' folder in mydocuments/sims3
then at the starting screen I installed it at downloads
the sim then moved to mydocuments/sims3/savedsims and thats actually the only .sim file that actually works
the other .sim files do not work
oh and if I save a sim for my own, it also appears in the SavedSims folder

I checked at every gender/age possibility

so.. what am I doing wrong?
and.. if I'm still not clear at describing or attempting.. let me know

It does sound as if you are installing properly*, so let's try toggling cc view. Enter Create a Sim and click on the premade Sims display. Select the age group your downloaded Sim(s) should be in, and click the * in the upper right corner.

* You abbreviated the file path in your first post, but I assume the full path is My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\SavedSims

yes it's My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\SavedSims

no it doesn't seem to work
it's real annoying because the sims that I make myself and which I save, appear and stay in the premade bin.. and they also appear in My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\SavedSims

Can you provide a link to a Sim you've downloaded from MTS that isn't appearing in your game?

To be honest, if you're definitely installing it correctly and you're definitely not looking in the wrong place, then there's no reason why the content wouldn't be working. Especially as the example you've linked to is confirmed working by commenters.
